So we had a lot of questions from the players who tried the game or heard about Elypse. We decided to pick and combine the most commonly asked questions from the community and here they are: Is Elypse a Metroidvania? We got asked this question a lot and there were some initial misunderstandings/miscommunication and assumptions that it was a Metroidvania when the game was initially announced. We would just like to emphasize the fact that we never wanted to call it a Metroidvania and tried to avoid using the term. But everyone knows how the digital space is out of our control as a small team of indie game devs. Honestly speaking, we drew inspirations from celebrated titles, including Ori and the Blind Forest, which influenced the aerial aspect of the controller, providing a sense of freedom and fluidity in movement.
