- Every Dream Ends Eventually... Thank You. - 8 July 2026
I got some bad news rather suddenly out of nowhere. Long story short, you can always pay rent on time but it won't save you when someone else buys the property. The abrupt expense of having to find a new home is a deathblow. There are no pennies left to pinch. Durance Gaming can no longer afford to keep the lights on. I gave it my all, it wasn't enough. Thank you to all the incredible people who joined me along the way. It's been a dream come true. Neverspring Chronicles, Ogre Dungeon, Stellar Punk... Event Builder: Brides & Banquets... It's been a good run and I'm proud I came this far. So What Happens To Current Titles? Neverspring Chronicles is my baby, and I will always be maintained for as long as I am physically able. To future players, if there are any, I will always keep an eye on the bug report section of the Steam forum. That being said, I want to thank the players who suffere…
- Combat Update & Bug Fixes - 8 July 2026
CHARACTER CHANGES Characters have had their combat designs tweaked for flavor and balance. Native skill lines (like class or character based skills) now follow a new design philosophy that revolves around individual core skillsets that can be modified or exploited with different build styles. Marrick - Marrick now learns his native skills in a different order. - New "Sneak Attack" skill learned at level 1 as part of new core skills. - The new sneak attack skill replaces Marrick's old Back Attack skill. - Smoke Bomb's AoE targeting has been stabilized. - Steal-modifying items that create skills like Mug or Ambush have been tweaked. Vanessa - Vanessa now learns her native skills in a different order. - Dance skills learned slightly sooner and in closer order. - Dance cooldowns have been removed to allow for the strategy of dedicating consecutive turns to support actions for faster aura st…

- Hotfix Update: Bug Fixes - 17 May 2026
Just a quick hotfix for some recent bug reports. I've also been combing through the game looking for any maps/rooms that need adjusting to accommodate the recent tileset updates. It's always embarrassing when someone hits a bug but I really appreciate the bug reports players post. Neverspring Chronicles has something like 600 individual maps so it's easy to miss a few and think I got everything, haha! The common boat graphic was all sketchy. It has been smoothed out a bit. Some new tile-mapping code was placing fake treasure chests in rather inconvenient places. This has been fixed. The slowing effect of hills and forests on the overworld map was removed previously and I accidentally removed the slowing effect of walking in swamp shallows. This has been fixed. Swamp water is now properly annoying. A bug with the ramp tiles that lead in and out of the mountain town has been fixed. Player…
- Hotfixes & Update Info - 11 April 2026
When Neverspring Chronicles was released in March of last year, there was really only one regret. That I wasn't able to afford proper artwork. I had to rely on a lot of mismatched graphics and RTP in order to communicate the world properly... The truth is, there's just not a lot of assets out there for Neverspring's niche genre. But now, one year later, I've been able to take the money from the game sales and completely reskin the game with a single, uniformed art style. https://static.wixstatic.com/media/ae40c7_53de0073362b46c4a7a05c9197e73245~mv2.png (Screenshot - Ashbury Fen) It was actually more of a challenge than I had expected. I purchased work from several different artists over on Itch.io to test out different looks but where one style would be too much, another felt like not quite enough. Neverspring Chronicles takes a lot of inspiration from the 1990s SNES games, Final Fantas…
- Major Update #02 : A New World - 7 April 2026
Just now as I'm posting this I realized that I can't remember everything I've been updating in the past few months. Lots and lots of little things. Bug fixes, performance tweaks, etc. What makes this our 2nd major update is something else entirely. Months ago, I finally found an independent artist with the right kind of pixel art style to give Neverspring it's much needed makeover. It feels especially cool because the purchase and licensing fees were accomplished as a direct result of the players who supported the game. So thank you to the players! I genuinely couldn't have done it without you. o/ The entire game world has been updated. Thanks to the pixel artist "Electric Lemon", I have been able to shape custom graphics for Neverspring Chronicles. (Even graphics for possible future installments) All the work I did during the game's original development really paid off. Since I had bui…
- Hotfix Notes For November 30 - 1 December 2025
Seems like everything is working properly with the uploads again. So here comes the next round of tweaks and fixes! Hotfix Notes - "Melanie" no longer notices things. - Several stray face graphics fixed from old artwork. - Some dialogue fixes where text was cut off. - Dogs with blasters? Not anymore. Worgs will no longer crash the game by trying to use tech skills. - Axe Throw's damage formula has been fixed. - Some enemies were showing up much larger than intended. They've been cut down to size. - The shallow water in Eastpoint now works correctly. - Bennet's graphics have been fixed in the Underways. - Some files were missing due to the earlier problems with Steam's uploading. These should be fixed now. - The "Steal" skill has been made more useful by making some items only gotten through stealing. - The "Dance" skill no longer uses 2x it's skill cost. Calm down, Vanessa. - The "Earth…
- Cloud Save Update - 4 November 2025
There has been some really cool feedback so far that is legitimately inspiring to me. I remember being younger, wanting to play an odd game, and going down one rabbit hole or another to figure things out. Sometimes it was looking for an English translation. Sometimes it was trying to figure out how to get the game to run at all. Whatever the reason, the hunt was all part of the fun. I've heard that some Neverspring players have done the same. One player e-mailing himself save files to play here or there. Another player scouring Reddit for solutions to Mac compatability. These experiences that make their way back to me are like the realization of exactly what I was hoping to do by being an indie game dev: sharing those experiences I had along the way. So in an effort to continue improving the game, I was finally able to get in there and get some cloud save features up and running. Thanks…
- 1.2 Major Update: Bringing Things Together - 16 October 2025
There will surely be some loose ends that I forgot to tie up. I had grown complacent during a slow period and was tinkering away at this major update when suddenly I realized there were players playing who needed some bug fixes. Since I was elbows deep in the project files, it wasn't as simple as just posting a bug fix. So I worked as quickly as I could to stabilize things and upload this update, along with many of the reported bug fixes. From here I can get back to quick hotfixes as needed. Lesson learned: Keep 3 project file copies. One for backup, one for current build, and one for larger updates. That being said, I apologize for the wait! Here's what you'll find in the latest major update: Art Style Overhaul tons of work dedicated to improving the clashing art style maps, characters, monsters, interface, and animations ---- NOTE: I have used AI tools to edit a lot of the artwork tog…
- First Major Update: Artwork & Combat - 7 June 2025
\\Bug Fixes\\ - The invisible monster in the Ashen Roost has been replaced with a new machine-type enemy. This fixes that bug while also further increasing the player's chances of finding a Thaumetic Battery to power the lower floors. - The Ashbury Arena fight is supposed to heal the party before each round but it was not healing the party for the first round. This has been fixed. - There was a bug at the Abandoned Farmhouse that if a player tried to hide in shadows just as they were about to get caught, they could be teleported to a location farther ahead in the game. This has been fixed. - The Scan feature from the Lore Book item was bugged out. The Scan mechanic has been rewritten and now works properly. - The Shoulder Canon (MK-I) device had a bug that caused Knockdown to persist until combat ended. This has been fixed. - Very rarely a NaN value gets returned for a character's HP va…
- Patch of the Wolf: Bug Fixes - 1 June 2025
Thanks to the YouTube channel Slice of Kris, I was finally able to track down the missing graphic bug for Ellessidel. Bug Fixes - I do believe the long-elusive missing graphic bug for Ellessidel has finally been fixed. Ellessidel should no longer turn invisible when she loses her temper. - The worgs Bawz and Koda were displaying the wrong portrait in battle. This has been fixed. - Ogin's battle portrait has been fixed as well. - The boss rage bar was showing in regular fights during Natasha's escape. This has been fixed. - Some enemies had their elemental weaknesses offset by 1 in the database. This was causing odd vulnerabilities like earth-type enemies being weak against Lightning when it should be Air. These enemies have been updated. - Several Light Armor items were displaying General Armor tooltips. These items have been updated. - All Shield tooltips have been updated and the Ligh…
- Streamer Update: Content & Fixes - 29 May 2025
I've been up for almost 50 hours... but it was worth it. I noticed a streamer on YouTube had given Neverspring a try and so I watched all 6 hours and took notes on the bugs and hard points. The guy was an absolute champion, some of the stuff I saw him running into was jaw-dropping so I figured I could sleep when I'm dead lol. I was able to get a chunk done but there's still more to do, along with the currently active reports (some of which I was able to get to in this update as well). Bug Fixes - Some typos have been fixed. - The missing tooltip for Support Drones has been fixed. - The tooltip for Casual Shoes has been rewritten to better explain that it enables dash for faster walk speed. - The slimes in the Lower Sewers were 4 levels higher than they should be. This has been fixed. - Some trinket accessories were missing their promised Max HP increase. These have been updated. - The i…
- Lugae Fortress Hotfix - 27 May 2025
The upgrade to Lugae's Fortress had 2 doors that had transfer points off by 1 tile. This would trap players in a wall when using these doors. The doors have fixed. Also added in a quick check whenever the map loads just in case anyone boots up an old save file from before the upgrade and finds themselves loading into a wall or something. This is a very small update so players may need to "Verify Game Files" to force an immediate update.
- Bug Fixes & Upgrade: Lugae's Fortress - 24 May 2025
Bug Fixes - The Moldy Spores skill was designed poorly. Some players would get stun-locked into a forever sleep/slow loop in early game when there weren't enough party members to absorb the effect. This has been fixed. - There was a bug that could cause a player's game to slip into a different combat system. This combat system is fully functional but is not meant for the game in it's current state, so players may or may not have noticed this bug if it did not cause any other problems. If a player could see little face graphics in the upper right-hand corner of the battle screen to represent the turn order of allies and enemies then their game file was afflicted with this bug. I am still searching for the source of how the bug was happening but in the meantime I have re-written the function that toggles combat systems to no longer be able to access the secondary combat system as a tempor…
- Dash Movement Fix - 18 May 2025
:: Bug Fixes :: - The "Casual Shoes" item has been restored. - The Dashing System is now working properly. Players will be able to move faster as long as at least 1 party member has this equipped. - The "Iron Coin" item was a temporary placeholder for the "Casual Shoes" but it's pretty cool so it has been added to the game permanently.
- Scene Change & Fixes - 17 May 2025
Bug Fixes - The shop on the Pirate Ship was selling a blank item. This has been fixed. - There was a problem where the Magitechnicians would sometimes bug out or not drop a keycard. This had the potential to trap a new player, forcing them to reload the game to progress. The way they work has been changed slightly to address this issue. - There was a problem with the pathing of the Magitechnicians. The above mentioned changes have fixed this. - Some of the Bow weapon icons were missing the overlay for their Magitech slots. These have been fixed. Scene Changes - After rescuing Andorlane there is a scene that reveals Gafgaren's past. This scene has been updated and expanded. - Various dialogues have been updated along with the Gafgaren scene update. - A small new zone has been added to serve as a transition between getting shot down and arriving at base of the Ashen Roost.
- Minor Content Update: Sanctum & Ashen Roost - 11 May 2025
Minor Content Update - The Sanctum (dungeon) has been updated. As an older map, it was lacking in level design compared to newer maps. - The Ashen Roost (final dungeon) has been updated significantly. The tower now has two distinct phases rather than one long crawl. The dungeon as a whole is now much more interactive. A new item called "Thaumetic Battery" now has a chance to drop from machine and construct type enemies. There is also a chance to find them in junk piles.
- Content Update: Combat & Difficulty - 9 May 2025
Bug Fixes - A new script has been written to check for initialization errors on start-up. Some game data is only written at the start of new game. This background process will fire off when loading a save file and check for missing or undefined data and, if detected, will force a reinitialization. This should help older save files, especially Early Access ones, run smoother. - A reminder to players attempting to load Early Access save files from before March of 2022: the Phoenix Down update in 2022 marked the start of a complete rewrite of the entire game. Save files older than March of 2022 are not salvageable because they will attempt to access deactivated content and a completely different database. - The skill mastery feature was not working properly. This has been fixed. Skills can once again level up the more you use them. Higher level skills cost less and deal more damage/healing…
- Quick Hotfix: Achievements - 1 May 2025
I had just uploaded that minor update for balances when I alt-tabbed over to the Steam forums and noticed two new bug reports. Since I was already here I went ahead and fixed them. I apologize for the back-to-back uploads. - Players can no longer run away from the Reclusive Queen boss fight. - There was a typo preventing the Mud Golem boss achievement from activating properly. This has been fixed. - There is now a fortune teller NPC in every town. If you talk to it, the NPC can scan your game progress, check for any missing achievements, and activate them for you. Just a reminder to all players! Sometimes Steam does not give an automatic update if it is too small. If ever in doubt, simply verify your game files. It will force an update, no matter how small, and you can be confident you have the most up-to-date version.
- Minor Update: Balance Adjustment - 1 May 2025
Content & Adjustments - Some skill and/or battle command icons have been changed. - Weapons and Armor now show their magitech slots/links with their icon image. - There were several items (specifically trinkets and magitech devices) that had hidden stats which were contributing to a sharp drop in difficulty in the 2nd half of the story. This was making the final stretch of the game way too easy if a player leveled up high enough, making them practically invincible. This became especially noticeable as magitech devices grew with the player for even more stat increases. These items have had those hidden stats removed. Just a reminder to all players! Sometimes Steam does not give an automatic update if it is too small. If ever in doubt, simply verify your game files. It will force an update, no matter how small, and you can be confident you have the most up-to-date version.
