- Update 12 Patch Notes - 24 September 2026
Update 12 is now live; run saves from Update 10 and onward are compatible. For news on the Sacrosanct, check out our notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1769830/view/693147294304830653 The headliner here is naturally the full controller support. After much testing, it's now available for everyone! Gameplay adjustments in this patch focus on a few things: Improve the ease-of-play of the Guild, and push their mechanics to play better with more of the card pool and their faction-specific mechanics; on this front, the Ranger, the Shock Trooper, the Dive Suit, and the Electrocannon see the most changes, though many other units see kit improvements as well Certain Scavenging mechanics were quite opaque to many players, such as what Hazardous nodes meant and how the odds were being calculated for success. Some system adjustments for the Scavenging mechanic now make it much clearer h…

This update will NOT clear your in-progress runs from either Update 10 (Patch 0.15.0) and forward. The wording on some of the cards in the former group won't be changed until the next major update to reflect the behavior change Fixed an exploit where you could use the same option multiple times at a location under certain circumstances by canceling an action then retaking the action Fixed a typo where Turbo Charge was written like it gave 2(3) stacks of Supercritical when it is only intended to give 1 Fixed a bug whe…

- Update 11 is out now! Plus news on Controller Support & Sacrosanct teaser - 20 August 2026
Hey everyone, I wanted to give you some news on a few topics. As we head towards 1.0 (which is somewhere on the horizon), the major features that remain are controller support, the third origin, and the end game. This news post focuses on the first two topics, as those are our immediate two near-term goals. We'll also continue our monthly updates, where we make iteration on balance, UX, and other steady improvements so that As We Descend can be a complete package when we do fully launch. - Update 11 Patch Notes - 20 August 2026
(Patch 0.16.0) Known issue: The Japanese localization is still in-progress, so it did not ship in this patch. We'll followup with a hotfix to patch it in. City Market Plaza can accept Supplies now Market Plaza Dreamfruit copper value reduced from 30 to 25 Reliquary Contaminated item cleansing now shoes an icon to indicate its input type Chemist Rework Design Notes: Chemist played too similarly to the Forge Smith without carving out its own niche in the Guild. To better differentiate the Guild-specific variant, the Chemist now plays into the "Limited Charge" theme that Guild has by generating Flow Crystals as well as being able to benefit from Limited Charge cards. It also gained an additional Tar payoff to capitalize on its own Tar-generating card pool. (Upgraded values are shown in parenthesis.) Thermochemistry (Starter perk): Whenever you play a card with Limited Charges, gain 1 Rune.…

Unfortunately there was a data error in that one that could not be made compatible with this version; apologies if you lose your run this way. Your meta-progression is still retained either way. Added new card art for Infection Faction War now gives a resource reward rather than another advanced ally; additionally, the followup events have text more befitting for the outcome Workshop now has a different visual based on whether or not it is powered Another possible fix for the missing Workshop issue Shop cooldowns down from 2 to 1, and fixed an issue where shop locations could inconsistently have a cooldown or not Fixed an issue where Quartermaster's once-per-run effect of a special per…

Hotfix for Update 10 (Patch 0.15.0). https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1769830/view/708904182867820760 This will work with recent runs starting with Update 10, except for Hotfix 0.15.0.2 (500117)! Unfortunately there was a data error in that one that could not be made compatible with this version; apologies if you lose your run this way. Your meta-progression is still retained. Fixed an issue where resuming your run would lead to a missing City and a black screen Tried another fix for the issue where the Workshop would sometimes fail to spawn. If your current run suffers from this issue, continuing the descent may not necessarily fix this; it's only guaranteed to apply on a fresh run
- Hotfix 0.15.0.2 - 24 July 2026
Hotfix for Update 10 (Patch 0.15.0). https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1769830/view/708904182867820760 There's a chance this will break your existing runs due to the fix to the Workshop spawn location. If this affects you, apologies in advance! You will have to begin a new run in that case. Fixed an issue where the Workshop would sometimes fail to spawn. If your current run suffers from this issue, continuing the descent may not necessarily fix this; it's only guaranteed to apply on a fresh run

- Update 10: Recyclic Phenomena - 23 July 2026
Hail wardens, this is Kev. Major update 10 is now live, and is of larger scale like our monthly updates prior to Update 8. This update is focused on weighty decision-making in the City. Due to the system reworks, your current runs in progress will NOT be compatible with the new patch! As always, your meta-progression will be retained. A quick aside: if you just want to read more about progress on controller and the Sacrosanct, scroll to the bottom of this update! I have a brief status report there, and you'll hear more about it in a future news update. Since the last cycle rework in Update 5, I've kept an eye on the feedback (both good and bad) and have been analyzing what worked and what didn't work regarding the rework. The changes in this update are a culmination of that, meant to amplify the compelling parts of the City gameplay loop while rebuilding the weaker aspects. The top aims…
- Experimental Branch - 17 July 2026
Hey all, this is Kev. We have some hefty changes for the upcoming Update 10, which means we need your help to test out the patch before the patch goes out live to everyone! Instructions for how to jump into the branch are at the bottom of this news post. The aim of the City changes is to really amp up the decision-making in the strategy layer, and also make the gameplay clearer there so you can pick between trade-offs. It also expands the impact of any visit to a location, since you can take many actions at a given location provided you have the right resources. Reworked City System and Cycle System Instead of having stats, your allies are specialized to traverse different parts of the City. Once you send an ally to a location, you'll be able to take any number of actions (for regular events). After you leave, the location goes on cooldown for 2 cycles! Items no longer go into your City…
- Patch 0.14.1 - 23 June 2026
We've rolled out some adjustments and fixes. This update will NOT clear your in-progress runs from Update 6 (Patch 0.11.0) and forward. The enemy encounters which were the least threatening (in terms of damage dealt to the player's forces and required the least expenditure of Favor) have all been adjusted with the aim of bringing them more in-line with other encounters. These are all early game encounters found in the first depth, and should reduce some of the randomness associated with rolling favorable encounters. Enemy Adjustments Drone health increased from 37-40 to 38-41, and Stagger threshold from 39-42 to 40-43. Pheromones goes in Deck rather than Discard now. Stinger Bug health increased from 34-36 to 36-39, and Stagger threshold from 28-31 to 29-32. Recovery base healing increased from 3 to 6 Fodder Pair, Bane Minions encounter are slightly harder (Fodders have greater attack p…
