- My favorite horror game of 2025 sounds like a literal nightmare because its composer sampled the creaking of an old house and a metal saw scraping 'an instrument that sounded horrifying yet could have been made in feudal Japan' - 17 November 2025
Labyrinth of the Demon King is one of my top games of the year, a first person survival horror delve into Feudal Japan. Part of its appeal lies in the oppressive, stressful music and sound design by composer Remu Daifuku : This game has the worst, most disconcerting collection of gurgles, slurps, crunches, screeches, creaky floorboards, and haunting biwa string solos I ever done heard. I love it so much... Read more.

Hi all, as discussed within our initial post-launch update post, a new post-launch patch is now live for Labyrinth of the Demon King. Just to reiterate, the changes in this patch are: Added framerate cap options (and warning popup that some behaviour may be unpredictable at very high frame rates) Disabled torch being unequipped when entering an exterior cell Using the quick equip torch button will now equip the lantern if the player has purchased it Fixed error where placeholder language names were used instead of official translated terms Fixed spelling error in Kings Court Puzzle Fixed issue where status effects would display “{Amout}” instead of the number for stack amounts for certain languages We hope this improves the experience within the Labyrinth of the Demon King. - A week after launch, my new favorite gungy, Condemned-style horror-brawler has its first patch and the promise of yokai-punching spiked knuckles on the way - 19 May 2025
Survival horror dungeon crawler Labyrinth of the Demon King is neck-and-neck with Avowed and Oblivion Remastered as my personal game of the year so far, which I absolutely did not expect when I loaded it up on my Steam Deck before a flight (I ended up playing it all five hours). But even more surprising is that its small development team is already promising new additions just a week after launch... Read more.
- You've got to play my dark horse GOTY candidate if you too are a sicko for one of the ultimate RPG gimmicks: a trash level 1 sword that can be forged into a god slayer - 17 May 2025
Labyrinth of the Demon King is a must-play: It's a first-person, survival horror dungeon crawler that feels like an unholy fusion of King's Field , Resident Evil, and Condemned. When you do check it out, though, I've got one big piece of new player advice... Read more.

- Labyrinth of the Demon King review - 13 May 2025
Labyrinth of the Demon King is a cruel, miserable dungeon crawler set in a collapsing feudal Japan. I'm a lowly foot soldier, or ashigaru, seeking to avenge the murder of my lord and his army at the hands of the demon king. As you can imagine, the odds are hopelessly stacked against me. My katana is broken, I tire easily, and the labyrinth I'm forced to navigate is the most depressing and confusing entanglement of narrow halls and non-descript rooms I've visited since the PS1 era. Not to mention that the demon king is openly mocking me with his arcane puzzles and repulsive yokai... Read more.
