  • Nuke Party and More Math - 18 February 2023

Alright friends and people who bought the game past the Steam refund window and are now stuck with it, not really any new content in this one, just an update to the game's systems. I like lists, so let's do it that way. The turn structure now flips who goes first every turn. This should shake things up a fair bit. Megaton combat has been fleshed out, with two targeting modes, two missile core options, and three megaton responses added. (Explanation after the list.) Added an Orbital Precision Score which increases the likelihood megaton strikes hit, and grants weapon accuracy in regular combat. Ok so now for the explanation for these things. I had a lovely discussion with the chaps and/or ladychaps on the discord about orbital combat, and I saw a few specific pain-points either directly mentioned or implied. One was that large fleets have no real drawback, one was that the megaton strike…

  • Spin Stations & Station Boarding - 11 February 2023

This update adds a couple things all in the same vein. Gaia spin stations: every un-claimed system will now spawn with two spin stations in it. These are extremely hard to kill with regular fleet power. Spin station 'ground' battles: fight on top of these spin stations! Bring a transport (with an army, almost certainly some 'air'craft) and a fleet carrier and fight it out against Gaia (corporate/genetically engineered creatures/police) forces. You get 5000 monopoly money for winning and the station goes poof! woo! Faction station boarding: these are two-stage fights. You need a transport (with an army...) and fleet carrier here too. The first stage is an 'air' battle against interdiction forces from the station. If you don't destroy the interdiction forces in time, you lose. (Also it's cool the station is in the background and gets bigger as you fight on.) In the second phase, you spawn…

  • Discord & The Desert - 7 February 2023

You may notice a fun new button in the game, it's an invite button for discord! We have a server now! Don't worry, I preloaded the off-topic channel with memes. https://discord.gg/DGUxtMqduk THIS UPDATE WILL ABSOLUTELY SHATTER YOUR SOLAR CONQUEST SAVES. I apologize. The game engine I use has some really obnoxious limitations, and I have put in a workaround that should prevent this from needing to be done again, but it had to be done this time to prevent it in the future. I have also been wanting to give the the Middle East and African control zones on Earth their own biome, so there's a new desert biome just for them! Also the cities are kinda cool, I had a dream about this city of gleaming towers held aloft by massive silver statues, so I went with that. When you press V on a fog of war world, like Io, Titan, or Neptune, it will now, in addition to displaying your units' bonuses, ALSO…

  • Fleet carriers! - 3 February 2023

Welcome to this week's patch notes! --added fleet carriers Fleet carriers bring the number of ship classes to eight I believe, not counting stations. They bring a couple unique mechanics to the table that have the bonus of giving frigates a purpose beyond being just corvettes but stronger. They are weaponless like Oilers, but give you some interesting new gameplay options. FCs are, in the lore, a middle-war new technological development. Stealth tech has finally advanced to where teams of drones in stealthy shuttles can sit, waiting, in a zone to ambush an enemy fleet, using over-pressure cold gas thrusters to close in fast when an enemy fleet is within range. There are three different types of attacks a fleet carrier can launch: beam rifle mechs, railgun mechs, and then a faction specific one. For the UN-SOLEXFOR, it's a megaton interdiction team; any megaton missiles get fired at your…

  • Taught the AI some new tricks - 24 January 2023

Hello all, I haven't done patch notes for a lot of the crash fixes, tutorial fixes, etc, so let this be your notice the game should be more stable now after weeks of such patches if you've been wondering what those perpetual tiny updates are. I appreciate everyone's patience. As this update touched a lot of the parts of the solar conquest AI, I'm bound to have introduced at least one oops though. I ran the AI against itself for two hours and got nothin', played myself and could perform all essential functions, but as we know, what works for me may not for thee. --First attempt at 2560 support, someone with a 2560x1080 monitor let me know if textboxes are where they should be or not --Fixed interplanetary fleets displaying the wrong destination celestial (my chosen/invented term for planets and moons, idk calling them 'bodies' got old) upon load (pressing "v" on an interplanetary fleet f…

  • Summary of Patches - 8 January 2023

Hello all! Thank you for being the first folks over the top and into the world of Isaiah 188. I won't waste your time, let's see what's important for you to note: A new font! Everyone, my wife included, has said the non-dialogue font sucks, so I have replaced it. There may be some string alignment issues, but I checked as many as I could and they seemed fine. If you find one that's wrong holler at me and I'll go shift it. If this font sucks too, the hunt shall continue! If you have a non-supported (as in, not 1920x1080 or 3840x2160) screen size, I'm pretty sure textboxes always spawn too far down and too far to the right for you, so now if you press Q, they will move UPWARDS, and if you press R they will move TO THE LEFT. If your textboxes are in some other weird direction, or perhaps they are non-euclidean, let me know and I'll see what I can do for you, but it will probably wait for t…

  • Isaiah 188 is available! - 6 January 2023

Well, that's a year and a half of work out and in your hands! I'll be here fixing any bugs (and by that, I mean cursing at my code because I can't reproduce your bug) and answering questions as they arise. (Play the tutorial!) I'd like to preemptively thank everyone who gives Isaiah 188 a try, I do hope you have fun! Stay tuned for the Mars and Haptha campaigns as they come out on down the line, bonus missions, and more! I'm not sure why I feel the need to do custom art for these announcements, but there you have it. Enjoy!

  • Game is in release queue! - 31 December 2022

Hello! I must open with an apology: I forgot about the build review process, so I submitted my game today thinking it would get out, well, today, but nope, there's a few days of build review by steam left. I guess that means the game will be eligible for rewards and such in 2023 (lol as if). Anyway, the game is releasing with the UN ground and space campaigns, and a trio of solar conquest setups. The roadmap from here is as follows: Bug fixes and feature improvements Mars campaign Haptha campaign Bonus missions Not a long list, but I rather like games that I can look forward to additional content releases from as opposed to just bug updates, so this was something of a conscious decision on my part. Anyway, I'd like to thank my awesome music guy, Pietro Frigerio, for his excellent soundtrack. You can blame me for the sound effects, art, and everything else about the game. I may do anothe…
