• Performance improvement and GPU compatibility fix - 24 February 2024

  - A new improvement in the rendering engine offers a gain around 10 to 15 percent in rendering time. - Prevent crash when running on integrated GPU. Also now a GPU compatibility test is done when launching, to display a message if fractal rendering may not be possible.

• Now available on Mac ! - 3 February 2024

  So nothing new this time on the PC side ːsteamsadː Just Fractal Fly now available on MacOS ! ːsteamhappyː (the flat-screen version, not the VR one)

• Performance fix, no more bloom in VR, add a setting for speed control - 11 November 2023

  - Performances were downgraded in previous version, it should now be fixed. - In VR, picture looks shimmered, like with oily glasses. It was the bloom effect that was added in flat screen and VR version. But as it's a camera lens effect this doesn't felle natural at all in VR. So it's removed. - In last version, speed close to surface was far more slower. It was to make the flight easy for everyobiody. But the modification was actually frustating for many, so there is now a "speed close to surface" setting so it should make everyone happy.

• Enhanced rendering + a new free fractal! - 29 October 2023

  Updated rendering engine: Add anti aliasing (custom made TAA) Add Bloom Reworked fog Reworked lighting (ambient occlusion) Add (triplannar) texturing. Rework speed automatic control regarding distance from fractal. Find what was causing random crashes, it should be ok now.

  - Add an option to invert roll controls. - Controls inversion is now also available in VR. - Fix gamepad cursor that wasn't movable in horizontal direction when Fractal Fly was run in portrait mode.

• New controls in Fractal Fly! - v4.2023.06.04 - 4 June 2023

  This update is all about controls! There is mainly a new control mode, called "airplane", with it you can do loops and rolls. Also the standard/legacy mode (now called comfort mode) has been updated: No more need to push an additionnal trigger to go slower or faster. Also on keyboard, WASD is now supported.

• Fractal Fly update notes - v2.2022.08.27 - 27 August 2022

  Main modifications: - Improve rendering quality at low res: In Fractal Fly internal resolution gets automatically lower if graphic card isn't rendering fast enough. In last month update rendering turned to be blurry, rounded and messy when internal resolution was getting low. This shouldn't be the case anymore, though you may get some shimmering. - Speed changes between when you're zoomed or not (you wont go as fast at the size of an ant as at your normal size). But the speed change was annoying and very perceptible. It should now be less disturbing. Other modifications: - Fine tune shadows. - Color and detail fine tuning in Bubble cave.

  This is the first big update of Fractal Fly. You can take a look at this YouTube video to know more about this update: Here is a more detailed list of new features: - There is now a variable zoom level. - There is also Fractal endless repetition (but not on Bubble Cave). - Morph leads to a very diffrent result for Bubble cave. - Big gisplay enhancements for Undersea forest. - You can now choose fractal detail level. - Morphing UI has been added. - You can choose VR controller model. - You got help on the VR controller itself to know the controls.

  - Better UI in Screen (non VR) mode! It's not any more a 3D UI running on a screen, it's a full 2D UI, so it will adapt to each screen ratios. - No more "walls opening" animation, replaced by a quicker fade in / fade out. - Add ability to set field of view (though it's not available in VR (in VR field of view is determined by the VR headset itself)). - Add settings screen in the pause menu.

  - Display a message if VR wasn't able to activate, explaining the issue and how to fix it (have to set OpenXR defaults to SteamVR). - In Screen (non VR) mode, add X and Y inversion setting for pad and mouse movement. - In VR positions controllers away by default, so they are not annoying player sight when controllers are still not activated. - Prevent the gamepad cursor to display when in VR mode.
