  • Steam Next Fest and Release Date! 🎉 - 9 October 2025

Steam Next Fest Build Ready 🎉Full 1-2 Hour Experience Launching October 29th at 10 AM PDTOPA: The Office Rooms is now feature-locked and ready for Steam Next Fest! The full 1-2 hour narrative experience will go live on October 29th, and we can’t wait for everyone to explore the abandoned facility.Behind the Scenes: UX Playtest RecapWe recently ran a closed UX playtest in collaboration with UX IS FINE, joined by Kayleigh Jones, UX Designer at UX IS FINE.🎥 Watch the full session here: 👉 The playtest focused on first-time player experience, clarity, and how to guide players through a surreal environment without breaking immersion. The findings led to several key UX updates and performance improvements across the demo.UX & Accessibility Updates✦ FTUE Training Video - introduces the core loop and tone of the OPA facility.✦ Permanent Training Poster - displayed in the main lobby as a visua…

  • Re: Sticky Notes - 3 October 2025

Sticky notes should not be used to assist orientation in the facility, they are strictly for productivity.

  • Fixing Confusion - 29 September 2025

Small Update: Making Goals ClearerI’ve been watching players test the demo, and one thing stood out: a lot of people weren’t sure what their main job was. While I want to keep the feeling of exploration and discovery, I’ve made a couple of changes to better guide players without breaking the mystery.ANOMALY PC Before and After:FTUE Desk location Before and After:Anomaly PCs now display “CLOSE ANOMALY” – a clear goal, action, and prompt in one. This should make it much more obvious what you’re meant to do when you find an anomaly desk.First-time user experience adjustment – in the tutorial run, the desk for closing the anomaly has been moved into a more visible spot. The game still only requires you to close one anomaly the first time, but now it should feel less like you’re searching aimlessly and more like you’re discovering the core loop. These are small tweaks, but I think they’ll go…

  • Dev Log #3 – Demo is Live! - 28 September 2025

Dev Log #3 – Demo is Live! The big news: The Demo is now public and free to download! If you’ve been following development, now’s your chance to jump in, explore the facility, and share your feedback. Every bit of playtesting helps tighten up the game’s pacing, polish the atmosphere, and find the last bugs and glitches (the unintended ones!). This update wasn’t just about pressing “publish” – it came with a big pass on clarity, polish, and atmosphere. From subtle changes like darker corridors and background creaks, to bigger improvements like new PA announcements that better guide the player, the game should now feel more directed, unsettling, and immersive. We’ve also tackled plenty of bugs, tuned the flow of the first tutorial segment, and introduced quality-of-life improvements like a field of view slider, better flashlight reach, and gamepad fixes. There are also new environmental de…

  • Development Process - Blog Post - 18 September 2025

The Office Rooms is built live on stream thanks to the folks at UX Is Fine who support the development. What began as a three-day game jam has quickly grown into something bigger. In just two weeks, we have transformed an experimental prototype into the foundation of The Office Rooms, a project we are preparing for Steam Next Fest this October.Full Blog Post here: https://www.uxisfine.com/blog/the-journey-of-crafting-a-liminal-space-gameThe project currently includes 15 rooms and 3 of the 6 planned endings. Over the next few weeks, we will finish the remaining content, polish quality across the board, and playtest with users through a demo build. Feedback from private beta keys will shape the next iteration.Keep an eye out for the demo coming soon, I'm currently in the process of rebuilding the narrative delivery and breadcrumbs to lead players towards discovering escape methods within…
