- Meet the Neighbors - Pig, Seagull and Goat - 14 December 2023
You’ve seen them casually strolling around the village, but it’s time to properly introduce the friendly neighbors of the village - the Pigs, the Seagulls, and the Goats. With pockets stuffed with fresh fruit and other goodies, these happy villagers will hang around in the various districts, enjoying the local sights and taking in the ambiance. It’s therefore not surprising to anyone that they will panic, drop their food, and run away when a crazy possum runs into them. For who wouldn’t be terrified when a possum eagerly shoves the dropped treats into their mouth before running away, often chased by at least one dog guard? It’s not easy to be a friendly neighbor in this village.

The relationship between cats and dogs has always been a peculiar one and that is no exception for our patrolling guard dogs. While the dynamic isn’t hostile, it is a rare to bump into a cat on the village streets, which means that any potential sighting of one will cause a stir among the local guards. So what better way to distract them than with a cat box, a handy jack-in-the-box style toy that winds up and pops out a cool looking cat that meows to boot. The dogs will stop in their tracks, fascinated by the unexpected feline, and you can use that moment to scamper off into a bush or continue your eating spree.

The cozy autumn vibes are in full swing, which means it's time for another Autumn Sale! - Collecting the Zeppoles - 9 November 2023
Scattered across the village you will find scrumptious zeppoles hidden, both providing additional food points but also acting as collectibles for you to grab. To find them all, you will have to embrace your inner explorer and take unexpected routes, potentially even backtracking to get to the ones tucked away in particularly tricky spots. Whether they are hidden under bridges or tucked away on roof tops, these tasty treats are worth your detour, especially if you are achievement hunting. Once you’ve managed to grab a particular one, you won’t have to do it again in the off chance you get caught along the way, though the additional points you get from consuming it might still be worth it.
- Tools of Choice - Smoke Bomb - 2 November 2023
This comically sized smoke bomb may look lethal at first glance, but is in fact completely harmless except for its ability to daze those caught in its cloud. Perfect if you are being chased by several guards and need to duck into a bush without being seen, the smoke allows you to catch multiple dogs in its radius, leaving them temporarily stunned. As with any old-world bomb-shaped item, when you throw it you light the fuse, meaning it takes a little time for the bomb to go off. So make sure to consider that in the timing of your toss so you don’t end up missing your perfect shot.

They’ve all had their separate introduction posts, so now it’s finally time to look at the dog patrol as a whole. Lead by their fearless leader Bella Chonki, this rag tag team of woofs are both chaotic and organized at the same time. While they do in general struggle with a short memory span and can get fooled by a strategic retreat into the bushes, their perseverance make up for it. Whether you find yourself face to face with just your basic Guard Dog, the lumbering Detective Dog or the scrappy Mini Guard, they will each chase you with a fervor and dedication befitting of their station.

“Look at me, I’m just your friendly neighborhood guard dog! Nothing to see here, please move along with your business. Ladidadida.” These thoughts and more go through our possum and raccoon’s heads as they slip past the guard dogs, mischievous grins hidden beneath their Dog Masks. As the name might suggest, these fashionably silly items allow our chaotic duo to slip by the dogs disguised as one of their own. Just make sure you don’t linger too long, as they do have a limited amount of time they can be used before your trick is revealed and the guards acknowledge you as their foe once again.

- Tips & Tricks - Getting that Tasty Ending - 16 October 2023
To get the tasty ending, you not only need to eat Bella Chonki’s pizza and steal their crown once, but you also need to do it two more times after that. On top of this, once you’ve gotten your first crown, you cannot get caught at any point, or you will lose all of your crowns. Let’s just say the dog guards aren’t fond of things being stolen from their leader. This can pose quite a formidable challenge for those unprepared, as it leaves less room for trial and error. As such, here are some of our top tricks for how to get that juicy tasty ending: LAY OF THE LAND Our Tour of the Village posts gave you an introduction to what the various districts look like, but our final post talked about what happens in the village between runs. Even our beloved mischievous possum must occasionally stop what they are doing, and take a small break to ensure they are ready for the next crown run. We therefore wanted to seize that moment and make sure to spackle any cracks we’ve seen in the village since launch, to make sure the possum’s and your eating experience go even smoother.
