Hello there! It's been a while, but I've got an update which includes some bug fixes, and also a bit of news. First, the patch notes: Fixed a bug where you could pull a block backwards into a wall, and the block would slowly clip into you. Made some changes to the movement code when going down slopes, so it's hopefully a bit smoother. Fixed a bug where jumping as soon as exiting a ladder at the top or bottom could cause you not animate correctly. A couple of tweaks to camera angles in two places, so that things are highlighted better. Okay, so I know I said the game was finished, but I received a report for a progression-stopping bug, so I spent a couple of days fixing that. Here are the details: Fixed a number of issues with ultra-widescreen aspect ratios (wider than 16:9). There were two points in the game where you couldn't progress because the camera didn't frame your character correctly, and a number of others where it wasn't clear what you needed to do because things were offscreen. Also fixed a potential soft-lock at standard aspect ratios in the second playthrough, where you could teleport to a block and then not be able to teleport back to it. That's basically it! Nice and straightforward this time. Now, back to work on finalising the soundtrack.

Well, here it is! Finally, I've updated the game with all of the last pieces of music. There's about 15 minutes of new music, on top of the ~24 minutes that was there already, so I'm quite happy to have this in the game. Here's the full change log: Added new music to the game, and updated all existing music to be mixed and mastered slightly better. Moved a couple of pieces of music on the Rooftop around so that they triggered in slightly different places. Fixed an issue where attempting to teleport from non-flat ground would often give you a message saving you needed more space around you, instead of telling you you can only teleport from flat ground. I believe this is everything! I'm excited for everyone to hear the new music, and will hopefully be releasing a soundtrack soon. Hello again! This, by my reckoning, will be the second last update to The Sirena Expedition. I'm currently working on the final bits of music, which I did want to get into this build, but I'm going to be showing the game at Debug U tomorrow and I wanted to get a couple of features in. These are: I implemented new title screen cameras for when you have completed the game at least once. I changed the way the save system works a little. Without wanting to get into the weeds too much, the way it previously worked was if you saved the game while dialogue was playing, it would put you back to where you were when the dialogue started; however, if you triggered multiple pieces of dialogue before the previous one finished, they would get queued up, and if you saved the game before the last piece of dialogue in the queue played, you would again go back to where you were when the first dialogue st…

Hello! It's been a while, but I've just pushed a new update. The major addition this time is a checkpoint system, and there are a few more bug fixes, as detailed below. The new Checkpoint system creates checkpoints based on your game state at 6 points in the game. This is intended to be a fallback in the case that you lose progress due to a bug or forgetting to save, as well as allowing you to explore earlier parts of the game a bit easier once you've completed it. The Checkpoint system will also create any checkpoints you havent passed through; this will only be relevant if you already have a save game prior to v1.08's release. If you do, you can load it up and continue playing, and once you reach the next relevant checkpoint, that will be created based on the current game state, whereas all prior checkpoints will be created with a generic game state. Hello! I've just updated the build with a few more bug fixes and QoL improvements. Here are the main things: - I fixed a number of potential soft-locks and sequence breaks to do with teleporting to blocks you shouldn't be able to teleport to, or not being able to teleport back to blocks you just teleported to. - Fixed an issue some players were getting where the footstep sounds would play rapidly when going down slopes or stairs. This was actually caused by the fact that while the Option menu was reporting the FPS as 120 by default, it was actually being set to unlocked. Because my slope-handling code is a bit weird and framerate-dependent, you could get stuck on tiny changes in height at high enough framerates, and going down slopes it would think you were continually walking off a ledge and landing, hence the footstep spamming. - Even though neither of the above issues occur at 120fps…

Hello again! Two updates in one week? What is this, an ambassador's reception? I've just pushed v1.06 to live; as I mentioned in the previous update, this version adds achievement support. There are 12 achievements, and they unlock retroactively. As such, if you've played the game before, you can boot it up and wait on the title screen for a few seconds while it pops all of the achievements you previously got. I've tested it as thoroughly as I can, but please let me know if anything doesn't seem to be working as expected. Thanks!

Hello! It's been a while; I've been working on a pretty big update, but for a lot of players, this won't be much different from the previous build. - All of the post-game content is finalised now. It's hard to say much about this without spoiling things, but whereas the post-game content before was largely the same as the main game, there are a number of key differences now. Feel free to reach out to me if you'd like more of an explanation! - If you do already have a post-game save, the game will check whether it's still valid. Because so much has changed, there's potential for your old save to be broken. If the game detects that it won't work at all, it will make you start a new game; in other cases it will advise you to start a new game, but you have the option to continue with your old save if you want to. I've got a new build today, with a fix and a new feature: - Fixed the issue where attempting to use your special power repeatedly in an area where you can't use it would cause the Aquanaut to lock up. - Added an accessibility menu to the Options Screen. The only option currently is to turn the pixellation off, as some players might struggle with this. Hello! There's a new build of the game available now. This fixes a major progression blocker that a few people were getting, along with a few smaller QoL fixes: - Fixed the issue where some people were unable to jump up to a certain walkway in one of the puzzle rooms (shortly after you get your new power). - Made the way the game handles slopes and ledges more consistent across all framerates; previously lower framerates would cause you to pop up onto ledges that you couldn't reach at higher framerates, but this is no longer the case. In my testing, all ledges in the game were reachable, but let me know if anything isn't for you, and I'll fix it. - Title screen music now continues playing after starting a game. - Changed how the end of the game deals with saving. Hello! I've just uploaded a new build that fixes the following issues: - A lot of the music in the second half of the game wasn't playing. It does now! - There were some pretty nasty game-state bugs that were caused by saving the game, returning to the title screen and starting again from the beginning (Specifically to do with getting teleported to the abyss, which would generally break the game). This is the product of 2+ years of solo development, and I'm incredibly proud to have got to this point, and excited for you all to be able to play it.
