- XP Update Part 2! - 14 July 2022
Greetings! Today the XP Update Part 2 has released! Several changes are included like making the survival stat values visible on HUD, and the ability to gain multiple levels per run, but most importantly permanent stat buffs based on player level. During your run several factors are taken into account including distance traveled, entities encountered, and levels finished, which determine the amount of XP you gain each run. This has been adjusted to NOT scale with the total distance traveled anymore. At the beginning of each run you will be given a buff to your total Sanity, Stamina, H20, and hunger based on your player level. The save select screen has also been adjusted to now display the player level, rather than the total distance traveled. I want to thank everyone again for all of your support! for any inquiries or suggestions feel free to reach out in the discussion forums! -BaddWe…

Update #8: Persistent Items! The transition from Demo build to Full build has been divided into 3 major updates, Items, Entities, and Maps. I'm happy to announce a large portion of the planned items have been added to the game, and a rarity system has been assigned. "Common" items", like almond water, snacks, and sanity pills, will remain the same and are lost upon death. "Uncommon" items have been added, like energy drinks, and the fidget spinner, as well as "rare" items which will remain mostly a secret. Uncommon and Rare Items will persist across death, meaning the player can accumulate and save these items over multiple playthroughs, increasing their chances of surviving longer in the Backrooms. Update #7: Save Games and Localization! With Steam Next Fest beginning in just a few days I have been working on the project non-stop. The full game is nearing completion, and the demo has reached a completed state. You'll find that the 1.4 Alpha update is bringing several big changes to the full build, as well as the demo, including save game support and full localization for 7 languages! As development has progressed, the addition of rogue-lite elements has gotten to the point I have decided to fully lean into this aspect of gameplay, and save games will now allow for the player to keep track of their progress. The goal for the player remains the same, to try and escape the Backrooms- however, the difficulty of doing so will be determined by how well the player can manage their resources over multiple lives rather than one. Items like bedrolls, entity repellents, and charms will be ke…
