- Threads manager updated - 18 July 2023
The code in the game was optimized for Windows XP, it's been updated to check for Windows 10 or higher and uses the new threads/semaphores, etc. Will make the game run a tad bit faster.
- Release Notes for Recent Updates - 9 March 2023
Here are the release notes for the recent updates: A major resource management fix that reduces the number of crashes after playing for a while. Many audio related issues have been fixed: Corrupted audio files and related memory leak fixed. Fixed erroneous volume level bug. Fixed music cross-fading bug. Background and combat music will no longer play over top of each other. Music volume slider now works correctly. Thank you for playing!
- Music volume slider fixex - 14 February 2023
The last audio bug is squished. When in the "Options" menu, you can slide both SFX and Music volume controls and they actually work. The settings are saved so when you quit and play again, the settings will remain.
- Music crossfading has been fixed - 13 February 2023
The music streaming system wasn't properly setting the volume from the background thread. Issue has been fixed. All music have been converted to a new format, the "*.stream" file. Generated from using the original high quality wave files.
- Silence is not golden - 11 February 2023
It was found that when a game begins, sometimes there is a silence before the game starts and sometimes a combat sound effect won't play. This is found to be that when setting the volume, the code errantly used the PREVIOUS volume, and saved the value of the new volume, but not set it. The code flow was fixed.
- Corrupted audio files repaired - 7 February 2023
In tracking down an issue with audio, it was found that out of 683 .wav files, 2 had invalid headers. After fixing those headers, a possible buffer overrun has been fixed. This is a data update, so it will be a bit of a download. We are hard at work squishing bugs. :)
- Resource manager fixed - 6 February 2023
On occassion, the resource manager used in Battlechess would leak some memory. Leaking memory is bad. This issue is fixed.
- Patch 1.1.1 - 28 June 2022
The BattleChess Game of Kings 1.1.1 patch is out now. Updated the Steam API to 1.54 (The latest) Fixed an issue where the memory format iterator was performing a buffer overrun under certain circumstances Fixed an out of memory issue that triggers when textures were not properly released as the game is played from 10 to 60 minutes. Texture tracking refactored and the issue was fixed.
- Crash bug fixed - 11 February 2022
A stack overflow was found in the chess logic that causes peices to change color and then the game will crash. The version was updated to 1.1.

Pretty much everything is fixed. The only thing that hasn't been fully tested is the Combat Vault, however, the next build is currently being tested which will have the Vault enabled so you can view your previous kills at your leisure! Thank you so much for being patient with us! :)

Fixed a buffer overrun in the chess logic. (Took forever to find this one) Fixed an invalid value being sent to the light shader (Caused memory trashing). Played 4 games from start to finish, no crashes. Either I'm really lucky, or I found the crash bug. Please, prove me right!!!

There's a github based bug tracker set up so the community can report the bugs and watch the progress as issues are fixed.
