- Console release and weeklong Steam deal for all S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fans - 6 March 2024
Winter is a tough season, especially in the Zone. And even though some winter days felt like late March, stalkers are jubilant to welcome the advent of spring. The season when everything is new, the world refreshes, and the Zone is no exception. Curious mutants lurking through the grass searching for adventures, artefacts and anomalies are easier to spot. Seasoned veterans are ready to find what was left under the snow, some romantic stalkers are happy to see first flowers and traders are ready to welcome newcomers. Spring is a big deal to them, tons of rookies are looking to venture for a better life, and they need equipment, and food, and drinks, and, you can see where it goes. Most rookies go by the established route. Steam offers discounts up to 75% for classic S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. https://youtu.be/5zKZTRNRSls?si=1uFFeqAFIDOIkVFv But some future stalkers can venture into the unknow…

- Fix for the 12th Generation Intel® Core™ CPUs - 6 June 2023
Minor update in the renderers initialization sequence to address issue with freezing the game on computers powered by 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processors running on Windows 11. Patch affects only R2 render (Full Dynamic Lighting @ DirectX® 9). The reason behind this issue is the fact Intel dropped hardware support for DX9 in their integrated graphics cards found in 12th Gen (and upper) CPUs and discrete Arc GPUs. To support older games, emulation layer called D3D9On12 is used to translate DX9 API calls to DX12 at runtime. The game has somewhat complicated initialization which locked the emulator. To address the issue, initialization was simplified a bit to be more emulator friendly. Update, June 15 Thanks to the valuable patch feedback collected in this thread, we’re releasing a really tiny fix: R2 render (Dynamic Lighting) should now work properly on the systems with outdated DirectX End-…

- GSC Game World Birthday Sale - 5 December 2022
The last leaves drop down to the soil. Winter takes its toll, and the Zone gets covered with new, pure snow. The snow that will change its look but not the essence: strong, dangerous and a bit lonely. She keeps the memories about those times when the first stalkers did their first timid steps through the fences, ruins and anomalous puddles. Today those stalkers are hardy wolves, perhaps. And they are waiting for her next call. The call that they are promised to answer back by returning to Her, their home. If you desire to renew your ticket to Pripyat, follow the first stalkers steps and find your own path… Then GSC Game World birthday sale will give you an opportunity! From the 5th to the 12th of December, buy our games with a great discount and venture into this winter trip! Good winter hunting, stalker.
- Together we raised 800 000$! - 15 April 2022
The charity sale of GSC Game World games is over. The great reason to be proud of our community. Thank you all! Those who hear Ukrainians. Those who open their doors to Ukrainians. Those who do not stand aside: tweet, show their support, correspond, offer help, take to the streets all around the world, donate money, participate in charity sales, join the ranks of volunteers, feed those who are starving, dismantle blockages, protect, treat, transport, rescue and never back down. You are incredible! Together with you, we’ve managed to raise more than $800,000. After taxes and store commissions, all funds will be donated to the «Come Back Alive» Charitable Foundation. Thanks to this sale, there are more Cossacks in the Sich, stalkers in the Zone, and the Ukrainian people made new friends ready to come to his aid. We will remember that. Always.
- GSC Game World Charity Sale is still ON! - 8 April 2022
Friends! We are incredibly grateful for every purchase during the GSC for Ukraine Charity Sale. Now we see your powerful support — on some platforms we even had to generate new game keys for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series. By purchasing any games already released by GSC Game World, you are helping the defenders of Ukraine to protect our Independence. There are 3 days left until the end of the Charity Sale. You are incredible. Do not stop!
- GSC Game World Charity Sale - 4 April 2022
It has been more than a month since the war started in Ukraine. A painful and horribly long time. But in these exact moments, a genuine unity appears. These days, «Duty» with «Freedom» are standing shoulder to shoulder in a single row with militaries, protecting their motherland. Free volunteers are fetching incredibly rare stuff from the well-developed stashes network. Cossacks from Territorial Defence are consolidating to transform any little town into an impregnable Sich. And mages of the Internet are casting Empire-Annihilation spells to ensure our efficient informational support and helping the world to find the truth about the events. And to help these and many other Ukrainians, GSC Game World is starting a charity sale of its games. All the money gained will be transferred to the «Come back alive» fund, which saves Ukrainians' lives each day since 2014. The sale is active from th…

- Watch ten minutes of multiplayer Stalker from Ray Of Hope - 29 July 2019
Despite mods, abortive sequels, and spiritual spin offs, the promise of “like Stalker , but x” never quite comes true. I’ve just now realised this is why Ray Of Hope is so named. “Multiplayer Stalker” is such a pipe dream that it took ten minutes of uninterrupted footage to convince me there was more than a slim chance this will deliver. What I’ve seen of this standalone mod is enough to turn my head. You too can injure your neck below. (more…)
- Own S.T.A.L.K.E.R.? Get It Free And DRM-Free From GOG - 5 April 2015
The one certainty with news items about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is there’s at least a 70 percent chance they’ve been planted by Jim. Thanks Jim! GOG.com continues to blow the horn in support of DRM-free everything with a new game reclaiming service, which you can check it out for yourself in this generously placed link . The idea is that if you bought a game legitimately but the game no longer works because of unsupported DRM or other causes, then you can enter your original game key in order to get a free copy of the game through GOG’s DRM-free online store. …
- Don t Just Stand There, Etc: The STALKER Bundle - 13 February 2015
Discounts on the STALKER trilogy (which seems like the wrong way to categorise the series somehow, but never mind) tend to wheel around pretty often, but this is particularly good deal for the whole set. There a certain games which are buried deep in RPS’ DNA, and the semi-open world, post apocalyptic survival/horror/action STALKER is one of them. If you haven’t played them, you are everything that’s wrong with humanity missing out some of the most ambitious and atmospheric shooters of all time. …
- Stalker series saved from GameSpy oblivion via new patch - 1 June 2014
Like a lot of you (I'm guessing), I've never even tried the multiplayer modes in the terrific Stalker series, but it's good to know that I'll be able to if I ever get the itch. GSC Gameworld's post-apocalyptic horror shooter games are the latest to be rescued from GameSpy oblivion, via automagical Steam patches, or if you don't own the games on Steam, one equally magical manual multi-patch for all three games. This will switch the multiplayer servers over from GameSpy to GSC Gameworld's own, slightly less risky ones (it's not entirely clear who's running them, as GSC was dissolved in 2011). If you've accrued an impressive set of statistics in Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky or Call of Pripyat, those won't be saved, but if the post-apocalypse (and more destructively, the decline of GameSpy) has taught us anything, it's that nothing lasts forever, not even your kill-death ratio. Previously…
- S.T.AL.K.E.R. license grabbed by bitComposer - 12 December 2012
After S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was cancelled, former members of developer GSC Game World founded Vostok Games to continue the ideals of the open-world survival shooter series with Survarium . As for the actual S.T.A.L.K.E.R. brand, though, it wasn't quite clear what was happening. Shady rumours said Skyrim developer Bethesda was sniffing around, but publisher bitComposer today announced that it has grabbed the games license and plans to make more S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

- Rumour: Ex-STALKER devs form Union Studio, developing Fallout/Rage inspired shooter - 1 June 2012
It looks as though Vostock Games might not be the only studio to form in the aftermath of the break up of STALKER developers, GSC. Russian gaming site, StopGame reports that a significant element of the GSC STALKER team have set up shop in Kiev, and have formed a new outfit called Union Studio. There are a few tidbits to back this up. A description on UnionStudio's sparse LinkedIn page describes the developer as a "new company, created together with the best professionals that worked for GSC GAME WORLD and other AAA class studios." The page announces that they're making a "cross-platform action shooter which will be available for PC, Mac, PlayStation, XBOX." There's also a work-in-progress Union Studio site, which simply says "coming soon." The LinkedIn page of former GSC team lead and software developer Eugene Kim now has him listed as the new CEO & Founder at UnionStudio in the Ukrain…
