- The Typer Was Replaced, Tap Tap Loot Release and Improvements - 13 April 2026
Hey everyone 👋I’ve got something fun to share today.A few months ago, we had a fun idea: What if you could use The Farmer Was Replaced to automate another game? Here’s a little experiment we did on that: Together with the creators of the typing games Tap Tap Loot (which officially releases today 🎉) and Bongo Cat we built an integration to automate their games. Now, you can automate your typing using the new tap() function in The Farmer Was Replaced. 😄Check out both games here:The Typer Was Replaced Sale ⌨️ How it worksGet Bongo Cat for free or Tap Tap Loot with the launch discount.Update The Farmer Was Replaced now and automate the other two games without lifting a finger. At least after you've typed in this little, clever code:while True: tap() 🛠️ Fixes & ImprovementsThis update also includes a few fixes and improvements:First of all, a big thank you to Zoroark Zwart and the other c…

- 🎨 Custom Themes, Editor Improvements 🎨 - 17 February 2026
Hey folks, 👋 I have just pushed a new update and this one is especially interesting if you like to customize the colors of your coding environment. You can now choose between different color themes, including a night mode and a light mode. For those of you celebrating, I've added a Lunar New Year theme. But even better: you can create and fully customize your own theme. Every color in the game can be adjusted using hexadecimal values, and changes update instantly in-game. I’ve also added several community-submitted translations (Czech, Traditional Chinese, and Ukrainian). These are marked as unofficial for now, but I wanted to make them available since many of you have asked for them. For those using external editors: Python type annotations are now ignored by the game, so you can use them freely. Autocomplete has been improved to immediately register new variables, and the editor shou…
- The Farmer Was Replaced is Now Available on macOS 🍎 - 18 December 2025
Hey folks 👋,I’ve got some really good news to share today. 😊 First of all: The Farmer Was Replaced is now available on macOS! 🍎 The Mac build is finally live, so you can now play the game natively on Mac without any workarounds. I know many of you have been waiting for this. Thank you for your patience!I also experimented with a native Linux version but unfortunately, it had some issues and didn't make it into this update. However, the game runs just fine via Proton, so you can still play it on Linux.Alongside the Mac release, this update also includes a couple of fixes and small improvements:Added the result of measure() to entity tooltipsFixed sunflower tooltips showing incorrect yield valuesFixed a rare bug that could cause the game to freeze when harvesting a hedge while the treasure was repositioningThe maximum call stack size is now actually updated to 1100 (this was already in…

- Quality-of-Life Update and Leaderboard Rebalance - 4 December 2025
Hey folks, As promised, this update balances the leaderboards and introduces highly requested quality-of-life features, such as the option to enable all language features at the beginning of the game.First some general improvements:Added a particle effect to give some visual feedback when there's a polyculture hit.Added a couple of specialized error messages that detect and explain some common beginner mistakes.Improved the "Wrong number of arguments" error message that could be very confusing.Added an option to allow using all language features even before they are unlocked. This is not the intended way of playing, but some people seem to really hate that they can't use variables and functions right away.Split the "Autosave" setting into "Autosave Code" and "Autosave Progress" so you can still autosave progress when using an external code editor.Increased the maximum call stack size fr…

- This ultra-satisfying farm automation sim can actually teach you how to code - 12 October 2025
Games can be a great way to learn real-life skills. Minecraft is often held up as a fantastic tool for encouraging creativity, and Stardew Valley teaches good habits for time management. The Farmer Was Replaced is one of the cleverest examples of this I've experienced in a while. It takes the joy of automating a farm and watching it all play out in true Factorio fashion, and turns it into a way to learn basic coding. If you're a budding programmer or, like me, haven't attempted it in years and fancy going back for another shot, developer Timon Herzog's creation has just hit 1.0 after two years in early access, and it'll cost you less than $10. - Hotfix: Addressed crashes and freezes when playing in Chinese or Japanese - 10 October 2025
Hey folks, Thank you all for playing the game! 🥰 We've had some hectic hours over here while I searched for the cause of the crashes and freezes experienced by players using Chinese or Japanese localisations. 😅 This issue should now be resolved, so you should be able to play The Farmer Was Replaced in Chinese and Japanese again without any problems. This error occurred because a new version of Unity was not functioning correctly. However, if you are still experiencing issues, please report them in the Steam discussions or on Discord. Thanks to everyone who helped me identify the error more quickly! 🙏😊 See you soon! Timon

- Optimizations! - 24 June 2025
This patch brings many optimizations on both the GPU and CPU side. Particularly on the GPU side there have been some very significant optimizations that finally make the game less GPU intensive. Unfortunately the items in the inventory are no longer 3D because it turned out this was using a lot of GPU resources. Some things that were changed alongside the optimizations are: -The call stack limit is now 1000 function calls. -Items in the inventory are now in a fixed order. -When the camera moves to the position of an error or a search term it now moves to it's exact location instead of the center of the window. Also, the camera no longer moves to errors that are already on screen. -Fixed various UI bugs.
