A lot of people played the demo - thank you for that -, and we received a lot of feedback too. We agreed with a significant portion of it and immediately started working on those changes. Since the demo was released, the team has been working on the project with even greater dedication - and weāre pleased to bring you the first demo update: - Death and ResurrectionWhile we want to preserve the gameās hardcore and survival horror elements, weād also like to give players more room to experiment. After all, itās one of the key elements of any immersive sim. So, in the event of death, we only have to return to our corpse to extract our genes (if we want to get rid of the cloning error), but from now on we wonāt lose items from our inventory - at least not on this (medium) difficulty level, which is playable in the demo. - Bodies left behindWe noticed that bodies sometimes end up in the wrong place or even disappear. Hey, Janitors! Thanks for all the feedback! We knew weād hear a wide range of reactions, which is why it was a good idea to share the demo with you as soon as possible. Perhaps the most important of these will be balancing the death-rebirth system, as many of you wrote that you find it too unfair or hardcore, or perhaps difficult to understand. - Dev blog 11 - Meet the survivors of Aurora 5! - 31 January 2026
There is one aspect that we haven't talked about much yet, even though it's really important in the game. That's the NPC's, or survivors of Aurora 5. The survivors in RetroSpace are characters whose encounters will serve as milestones in the game. All the 6 of them are a rather strange and unique characters who not only adds to the main story but also allows us to learn about their own personal stories as well. But these survivors are not just world-building elements; we can also recruit them to our team, so they will join us at our base (The Janitors' Haven), where they will unlock new game mechanics for us. For example, recruiting one such character will unlock the option to purchase and develop tech gadgets, while recruiting a different one will unlock the weapon upgrades. In addition, each character will have their own special mission or mission line, which will be completely optionā¦
