- Cultural Consent in Diets & Deities - 11 October 2024
We presented a talk at High Score, a convention for music and audio in games! We discussed cultural consent while creating Diets & Deities with our composer, Kuya James, and our cultural consultant and friend, Ben Tyler! It was such a great opportunity to share our experience working with different cultures and we hope we inspired other game devs to approach different cultures in their work in healthy and creative ways! The reviews have been so lovely and I'm so happy with the reception of the game (♥ω♥*) A few weeks ago we had the awesome opportunity to showcase the music of Diets & Deities at Brown's Mart, our local theatre! - Fixed bug where the achievements "Can you feel the heat" "Sous Chef" and "Culinary Trance" were impossible to unlock - Fixed UI bug in the Settings page when using a widescreen monitor - Fixed Moss recipe 3 and 4 food artworks being the switched with each other - Fixed dialogue spelling errors: palette > palate (I have learnt today that there are 3 spellings of palette that sound the same and mean different things, and that made me sad)

Happy New Year! I hope you had a lovely holiday break! We've been working on something super special (keep an eye out for another update later this month 👀) A lot happened in 2023 for both Diets & Deities and the Northern Territory (our hometown!) game development scene, so I thought it'd be fun to do some reflecting today! At the beginning of the year, we were redesigning and improving our entire gameplay system, designed each cultural deity and their lands, and most importantly reached you! Here's a quick recap: Got Screen Australia and Screen Territory funding! Attended GDC and showcased game at IGEA's Australian Reception Joined our NT game dev crew at GCAP in Melbourne (from 3 of us in 2022 to 13 last year!)
