- Dev Blog - September - 4 September 2026
Hello fellow Tiny Rogues It's not been long since the last dev blog but there is already a good opportunity to show you more. Since the last dev blog you are more in the clear about the update goal. So from here dev blogs can focus a bit more on "look at this cool thing".Speaking of looking at cool things, before we dive in, I want to announce that the Tiny Rogues team has expanded further. Near the start of last month another full-time programmer joined Thorce and me, he goes by the nickname Gornoth and in real life by the name Johannes. Welcome to the Team! He has been taking care of fulfilling the promise I made to add mid-run saving to the game and it's already working, amazing! You all are getting spoiled because the entire save system is getting professionalized by him. Last time I checked, the save process is even multi-threaded now. But that's not all, I've also been getting mas…
- Dev Blog - August 2026 - 27 August 2026
Hello fellow Tiny Rogues,3 weeks ago I told you guys the next dev blog will be showcasing weapons! Well, it seems I was wrong. Because I have been thinking. And I think I cannot start showing off Weapons willy-nilly before I have given more information about what my goal of the next update actually is.The good news first:We are very busy and things are getting done! All weapons have been reimplemented. As of right now, this means that after the update the game will have 442 weapons! All the equipment items are also done already and right now I am in the process of finishing up companions, traits and classes. Development velocity is great! There is no bad news: Okay. Let's get into it.Everybody seems informed about the basics. Big ol' update, lots of new content, the abyss, mid-run saving, localization, all the good stuff. But many of you might be looking at Tiny Rogues and think to yourse…
- Dev Blog Soon - 6 August 2026
Hello fellow Tiny Rogues! Give me another two weeks or so for this month's blog post.I'm currently in the final stretch of (re-)implementing all of the weapons, and I'd rather wait until that's done so I can properly showcase everything in one bigger blog post. I'm really happy with how the weapons are shaping up. Spending the extra time on all the little details has made a much bigger difference than I expected. All those small touches really take the quality of the game to the next level. Here is a super tiny teaser. I promise, this barely scratches the surface of the polish that's going into this update. Many weapons now feature unique presentation details. For example, the Cyber Sickle's laser cutting technology is fully animated and occasionally emits little bursts of electric sparks.TTYS,RubyDev
- Tiny Rogues Blog - 24 June 2026
Hello fellow Tiny Rogues,Not to get too parasocial, but I wanted to inform you that I survived my surgery (F in the chat for my gallbladder) and short stay in the hospital. I've already been home for like 9 days but took a bit of a recovery break from working last week.Unfortunately this entire ordeal seriously killed our development velocity. The entirety of June has been very stale in terms of progress. We are going to pick up in speed now again, I'll talk to you some time next month.Cheers,RubyDev PS: On the bright side, in the meanwhile Thorce cooked a cool procedural explosion VFX which looks like a pixel art spritesheet but we can scale it into any radius we like without scaling pixel sizes. That means if you scale your explosion radius with items and traits, the VFX will also get bigger and feel more powerful.
- Dev Blog - May 2026 - 31 May 2026
Hello fellow Tiny Rogues!Unfortunately I don't have a cool dev blog for you this month.Good NewsWere have been working hard and progress is great. Last month I reported that we will be working on reimplementing the entire "player side" of the game now. All equipment items are in the game again, weapons and traits are almost done too. So it's really going great! Unfortunately weapons are just not quite polished enough to show off.Bad NewsI had a bit of a health scare over the past few days. I woke up on Thursday morning with severe abdominal pain and ended up calling an ambulance to go to the hospital, where doctors discovered gallstones. It's not anything life-threatening, but I'll likely need some follow-up treatment and possibly surgery to remove my gallbladder, which would probably eat another 4-5 days of productivity. We'll have to see how things develop over the next few weeks. So y…
- Dev Blog - April 2026 - 30 April 2026
Hello fellow Tiny Rogues! It's me. I'm back—back again—with a short dev blog.April has been a fruitful month. As I alluded to in the last post, we have indeed transitioned into content production by now.In my mind, I split the workload of content production into 2 blocks.Block A: All player stuff, traits, equipment, weapons, companions, ...Block B: All enemy stuff, floors, enemy behaviors, attacks, ...In April we started to seriously dent Block A. I am currently in the process of finishing up the last few scripts needed to set up all equipment items.I also have an overview right now of what the new version entails in terms of Block A.CategoryCurrent count according to Tiny Rogues WikiNew count according to project filesWeapons400439Equipment649783Traits137158Companion Summon Items6075Classes3433 (have not worked on new class designs yet, and Santa is taking a short break)I did hope to sh…
- Dev Blog - March 2026 - 31 March 2026
Hello! In the last Tiny Rogues News post I promised another blog post at the end of March, and here we are... in March. (Time passes too quickly!) Once more, we made some great progress. Overall though, I must report that March was quite a bit slower than expected. This is because I unexpectedly started working on some dev-tooling to make content creation easier. Originally we thought we would be able to skip this step for a while and just rely on IDE auto-complete and IntelliSense, but I deemed those to be not good, easy and quick enough. It's a bit of a bummer that not as much as I hoped for happened in March but in the long term it will pay off.I really hoped that March would mark the beginning of content (re-)production. Only once we start to actually reimplement the games content (items, enemies, ...) I will be able to accurately gauge when the update will actually be ready. The goo…
- Behold: Tiny Rogues News in 2026 - 11 February 2026
We are still hard at work every day. Most of December was spent on finalizing the scope for the update, making a huge 67 page long design document. Now that we are finally working with a concrete plan, the development velocity in January has been amazing. I also cut back on some leisure activities and have been no-lifing development more again. It's been fun so far and after last year, which was more of a recovery year, I feel empowered and productive.I plan to release a more extensive blog post at the end of March, hopefully including a lot of screenshots, gifs and general teasers. Maybe even a good estimation for the update (beta) launch. If you aren't 100% in the loop, basically, what was planned to just be a big content update, has slowly mutated into a complete rewrite of the entire game, including foundational technical changes and preparations for localization, mid run saving, bett…
- 0.2.8.6 Patch Notes - 3 October 2025
Updated the project's unity version and re-built the game because of Unity Security Vulnerability.Alignment required to enter endgame floors is now 2 by default, down from 4. (Alignment is being removed in the next major update so might as well make this less annoying in the meantime.)Removed the console log when the "Legacy Stamina" Game Rule is ON. (Not needed, it can be seen in the stamina bar.)Removed lengthy console log which explained that game rules don't affect your ability to earn achievements or game progress. (Behavior is still the same.)Added new splash line: "Now without massive Unity security exploit!".Had to push out this hotfix because the Unity security issue, Tiny Rogues was not affected by half of them due to being built in IL2CPP.More news and teasers on the big next update coming soon. Still working hard on it every day! Progress has been great!- RubyDev
- Sign Of Life - 7 August 2025
Hello fellow Tiny Rogues! Just to reassure everyone—the next big update is still in development, thanks for your patience!NewsI must contradict myself from the last FAQ. I am glad to announce that: by now Tiny Rogues now has been a 2-man operation for over 1 month. I have finally hired another programmer!Welcome Peter aka Thorce to the Tiny Rogues Developer Team! He is an amazingly creative individual and smart programmer who I have worked with multiple times before. (We've been together at university!)It's been an absolute pleasure having him by my side and ever since him joining, progress on the update has been two-fold!Especially a lot of new visual polish and eye candy will be thanks to his work - make sure to keep an eye open for it. An early example of that are new shaders for visualizing melee attacks, which I had intended to make for years now and never got around to doing so. P…
- WHAT'S NEXT FOR TINY ROGUES? - 1 April 2025
What's planned for 2025? When is the Abyss update coming out? I want the first beta updates to come in 2 to 3 months from now. From there I want to spend 2 to 3 more months in the beta. (Heaven and Hell taught me this.) So we are looking at October or November 2025. Wow, that's a bummer, why are you so slow at developing the game? Taking care of physical health. Enjoying the freedom you guys earned me by spending money on this game. (Thanks btw.

- 0.2.8.3 Patch Notes - 17 February 2025
The main purpose of this patch was to finally disable the Christmas event. While doing that I got sidetracked and added a bunch of smaller features and fun additions. I hope this will help bridging the time until the next big update. (Which is being developed at full force from now on! If you want, you can change your game version to the public beta in the game settings on Steam. This way you will receive beta updates.) 0.2.8.3 Patch Notes Your Mastery Skill Tree has likely reset due to pathing changes. Major Changes The Christmas Edition has been deactivated. Christmas can now be toggled via the cheat console. This enables Santa, enables the Christmas Tavern including the Christmas NPCs and Music and makes some enemies have their unique Christmas appearance. From now on, in this version of the game, Christmas is now also automatically active during December. The Christmas themed achiev…
- Tiny Rogues: Death Plushie - 26 January 2025
It's finally here! Presenting... The Tiny Rogues: Death Plushie! I sincerely want to thank everybody that initially pledged for the plushie. I am so happy to have such an awesome community that made this possible! You all are genuinely nice and understanding. A rare sight to behold these days on the internet! We can be proud of our community. Big thanks also go out to Makeship; it was a pleasure working with the folks there. CLICK AND ORDER YOUR PLUSHIE NOW! As the developer, I plan to acquire a bunch of plushies myself and hopefully give them away over the coming months and years. Be it on Bluesky, Reddit, Discord, here on Steam or at real life events. But if you really want one, be sure to grab it now—I don't have the storage space for too many. By the way, the 0.2.8.2 patch is literally an #ad patch. All I did was add an ad to the plushie and I added a disclaimer that the Christmas E…
- 0.2.8.1 Patch Notes - 10 January 2025
Fixed that when re-rolling the tavern by staying overnight it could lead to an error that froze the game when having the Dryad meta perk allocated. Fixed that Krampus and the Christkind could appear both at the same time. Base stamina recovery time is now 5 seconds, previously 6 seconds. I am still having an eye on the recent stamina recovery changes. I will also have to play the game more myself before making more changes to the system. Sorry for the tavern bug, it must have been very frustrating to lose some runs over the holidays. Cheers, RubyDev
- Full Transparency - 6 January 2025
Hello fellow Tiny Rogues and welcome to 2025. I hope you had a cozy holiday season. TL;DR can be found at the bottom. The Tiny Rogues Death Plushie Quite a while ago I collected pledges for a Tiny Rogues Plushie. I partnered up with Makeship to design, produce, sell and ship a plushie. At this point I own a sample of the Death plushie and you can see it already in the thumbnail of this blog post. I am very happy with the quality and I am sure everybody who ends up buying one will be satisfied. The plushie launches on January 27th, 2025. There will be one more post with a link to the plushie here on Steam. Originally I planned to "boost" this merch-drop with an accompanying update but my plans have changed. As a self-published solo developer I have no marketing obligations. I see no point in stressing myself out that early in the new year delivering another small update that distracts me…
- SURPRISE CHRISTMAS EDITION - 5 December 2024
Hello fellow Tiny Rogues! It was a calm December night. RubyDev sat at his desk, the world around him quiet and still. The kind of night where the air feels heavy with possibility, like something unexpected is about to happen. He was deep in thought, plotting out the perfect Gemling Legionnaire Archmage Path of Exile 2 build. The glow of his monitor lit the room as his mind buzzed with strategies and numbers. Out of habit, his hand drifted to the mouse, clicking on YouTube without a second thought. The homepage loaded, and there it was—a video in the recommendations. Tiny Rogues? Santa Claus? By whom? Old man Olexa. He clicked it. The video started, and sure enough, it showed Santa in Tiny Rogues. Wait—what? Santa Claus? Could it be? RubyDev leaned back, the cogs in his brain turning. He hit pause. His gaze wandered. “Man,” he thought, “so many people are playing Tiny Rogues regularly.…
