- 🇮🇹 Italian Language Now Available! - 28 March 2026
🇮🇹 Italian Language Now Available! We’re incredibly happy to share that We. The Refugees: Ticket to Europe is now available in Italian! What makes this update truly special is how it came to life. The translation was created entirely thanks to the passion and dedication of a member of our community, Sabrina Del Nobile, who reached out to us on her own initiative and spent many months working on bringing the game to Italian players. We’d like to give her the floor:"I came across We. The Refugees through a Reddit post, and I instantly knew it was the perfect project for my Master’s thesis in translation. Localizing the game into Italian became a deeply meaningful and rewarding experience. I took on the entire process — from translating and adapting cultural nuances to conducting thorough quality assurance — ensuring the game’s powerful story and sensitive themes resonated authentically wit…
- Post Mortem - Two Years After the Premiere of We. The Refugees - 1 May 2025
Two Years Later: What We Got Right, What We Got Wrong, and What We Learned When we started working on We. The Refugees: Ticket to Europe, we didn’t have a publisher, a studio, or even a real budget. Just an idea, a lot of questions, and more ambition than we probably should’ve had. Two years after release, the game was nominated to and received international awards, has earned a dedicated niche following, and a respectable 83% positive rating on Steam — but financially, it hasn’t been the success we hoped for. This post mortem is a look behind the curtain: how the game was born, how we pulled it off with limited resources, what mistakes we made (some of them big), and what we’d do differently next time. It’s part reflection, part open notebook — for fellow devs, curious players, and anyone wondering what it really takes to make a politically charged narrative game in 2020s Europe. Let’s…
- Charity Donations & Bunch of Exciting News! - 14 February 2025
Hey, gamers! It’s been a while since our last update, but that’s because we’ve been fully focused on developing the prototype for our next game! The good news? The prototype is almost complete, which means we can finally take a moment to revisit our previous title. And we’re coming back with some great news! First and foremost—just like every year around this time—we’ve made our annual donations to our friends and partners at Hope Project and Fundacja Ocalenie. We’ve just transferred 5% of 2024 game’s profits to support their charity work. And here’s something really exciting—this year’s donation was even bigger than last year’s! That’s all thanks to you, and we truly appreciate your support! Secondly, we want to apologize for the delay in releasing the Mac version of the game. Our small team had to shift focus to our new project for a while, which slowed things down. But the good news…

- Price adjustments - 25 June 2024
Hello everyone! In response to suggestions from our community, we have decided to lower the prices of "We. The Refugees" in some regions: - Poland - MENA - LATAM We are also joining the #PolishOurPrices campaign - the aim of this grassroots campaign is to reduce the price in PLN (Polish currency) of games on Steam, because the prices recommended by Steam are too high and do not reflect the realities of life in our country ;) Hope this news finds you well, Act Zero team
- We have been nominated for the G4C Awards! - 31 May 2024
We are happy to announce that we have been nominated for the G4C Awards as one of three games in the category: Best in Civics! Games For Change is one of the most important festivals in the world that brings together socially engaged, impactful games. When creating "We. The Refugees", we aimed at exactly such audiences, so being nominated at such a festival - and with our first game - is a real dream come true. The G4C Festival will take place from June 27 to June 28, 2024 and you can participate in it in person if you go to the festival in New York :) More details about this can be found on: G4C website Keep your fingers crossed for us on June 27, because that's when the Awards Ceremony will take place. We also encourage you to check out the other nominated games, because there are a lot of great and important titles there.

- -50% discount on the 1st Anniversary of the Release - 4 May 2024
Hello people! May marked the first year since the release of We. The Refugees. On this occasion, we have prepared a two-week long and the highest discount so far, reaching up to -50%! During this period, we are also taking part in two events on Steam: One of them is Polish Constitution Days, and the other one... we will announce it soon :) It's amazing that a year has passed since the release of our first game. During this time, we managed to sell 1,295 copies of the game, which translates into approximately 4 copies a day. It may not be a very large number, but we are extremely happy that we are still able to reach new players, and the reviews are mostly positive. We are pleased with the reception of the story in our game, and at the same time we have a lot of thoughts on what to do to make the next games better. We definitely want to invest more resources in expanding gameplay element…
- -45% discount and some announcements - 19 March 2024
Hello everyone! Until the end of the March, we are reducing the price of "We. The Refugees: Ticket to Europe" by -45%! Now that we have your attention, a few small announcements: 1. Last quarter, we managed to support the NGOs (Hope Project, Fundacja Ocalenie) and pay them all outstanding donations for 2023! 2. We have closed the topic of cooperation with our former publisher. Everything was resolved amicably. 3. Currently, we are primarily developing a version of the "We. The Refugees" for the Mac operating system. 4. A week ago... we received a grant for a prototype of a new game! We have 7 months to implement this prototype and we will try to make it in the form of a demo, which would enable us to present our idea to you :). We will not reveal specifics about the new project yet, but it will also be very narrative-heavy, but this time a bit more extensive gameplay aspects. That's all…

- End of cooperation with the publisher - 1 January 2024
As of January 1, 2024, we officially ended our cooperation with our current publisher, Polyslash S. A. We are grateful for the year of cooperation and all the marketing support that Polyslash provided us. Starting from January 1, Act Zero becomes not only a developer, but also a publisher of "We. The Refugees: Ticket to Europe". We take full responsibility for the continued operation of this title and will try to correct any mistakes made previously. We are sad to inform that the declared amount of 5% support for charitable purposes - with the exception of profits from the first two months after launch - was not realized due to not receiving payments that we have been owed. However, good sales results in December and the fact that we regained control over money transfers from Steam will allow us to cover outstanding amounts due to charity at the turn of January and February 2024, and we…
- Games for Good Award for "We. The Refugees"! - 24 November 2023
Our first award ever! Last weekend, the finals of the IndieX festival took place in Lisbon, Portugal, and we are happy to announce that... we won the "Games for Good" category! This is a historic moment for us, because for the first time ever Act Zero wins in a competition. Due to budget and distance reasons, we were unable to take part in the awards ceremony itself, but our writer appeared at the online event. Below is a short video presenting the moment of awarding us the award. https://youtu.be/xTRon8fqVn0 We are damn excited and proud that our work is important to someone. Thanks, IndieX!
- Chances are small, but it's still worth a try... - 21 November 2023
The Steam Nomination Awards starts today and the competition is massive and our game is a really a niche one, but... It still it's worth a try, isn't it? If you think it is worth appreciating our efforts: five years of research and struggle to create this game without any budget 3 years of actual gamedevelopment giving a voice to actual refugees and volunteers with whom we consulted the script writing a 300,000-word script with thousands of dialogue choices and branching narratives... ...then we would be extremely grateful if you voted for "We. The Refugees: Ticket to Europe" in the category: Outstanding Story-Rich Games We realize that there is a 99.99% chance that we will not win, but your vote would not be wasted as it would mean a lot for us. It would be a sign that you appreciate our working methods, in which we try to present complicated and important subjects in an attractive and…
- - 30% discount of We. The Refugees: Ticket to Europe - 13 October 2023
This Sunday, a referendum will be held in Poland regarding, among other things, refugee issues. The level of public debate - presented in the media and by politicians - is currently reaching rock bottom, which is intensified by the ongoing election campaign in Poland. It is difficult for potential voters to find reliable and trustworthy information about refugees, and the way the questions in the referendum are formulated is shamefully biased. We do not intend to persuade anyone to make this or that decision, but we encourage you to research the topic yourself and form your own opinion on it before making a referendum decision. To make this easier, we have decided to reduce the price of our game by 30%. "We. The Refugees: Ticket to Europe" is an in-depth portrait of the refugee phenomenon, based on several years of research, including a visit to the Moria refugee camp on the Greek islan…

- We. The Refugees at ChinaJoy live event! - 28 July 2023
We were very lucky at the beginning of this year. Thanks to some random Twitter interaction, we met Brandon from Gamersky, who publishes games in China. Brandon offered to cooperate in this market and localize the game to Chinese. Indie studios receive hundreds of such messages and usually nothing comes of it. Also, our game had an inappropriately long script, so we didn't really believe that someone would undertake the translation only a few months before launch. But Gamersky took up this challenge. And not only did they manage to translate 300,000 words in several weeks, but they also became our ambassador among Chinese-speaking players. And in a very effective way, because after 3 months from the release, Chinese players are our largest percentage on Steam! And now, in addition, Brandon has gone to China's biggest gaming festival known as ChinaJoy, where you can find a booth with We.…
