  After an incredibly long wait, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 finally has its first trailer, and it's looking like an absolute doozy for fans of the series. It had been starting to look like Sonic 3 was never going to come out, given that it's out in four months, but Paramount finally dropped a trailer for it today, showing off Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles finally working together as the ever-loveable Team Sonic. And best of all, we finally got our first look at Shadow the Hedgehog in motion - who yes, is in fact voiced by the one and only Keanu Reeves . The film essentially looks to be something of an adaptation of Sonic Adventure 2 , though on this occasion Sonic and co are having to team up with Eggman to take on Shadow.   It probably won't surprise you that, despite the numbers, Sonic 3 is borrowing a lot from Sonic Adventure 2 , but I really am wondering what will happen to Maria. Can't believe I have to write this, but spoilers ahead for Sonic Adventure 2 and potentially Sonic 3 I guess? Sonic fans around the world jumped for joy when the very short first teaser was released for Sonic 3 , as it featured an orchestral rendition of Live and Learn, the main theme from Sonic Adventure 2. Fans have been desperate for some Adventure-era recognition, and obviously with Shadow's introduction it was always going to borrow from it somewhat. As shared in a new interview with GamesRadar , Sonic 3 producer and Knuckles showrunner Toby Ascher spoke a bit about the upcoming film, and how it's drawing upon Sonic Adventure 2. Read more

  It's sounding like Sonic 3 is set to be a hit with massive fans of the series, if you ask Knuckles himself Idris Elba anyway. When you head back and look at the Sonic film, it feels pretty clear that the film was meant to be pretty broadly appealing, likely due to execs meddling - how else do you think we ended up at ugly Sonic? Moreso, though, it mostly felt like a film that could have had any superfast animal in it hanging out with James Marsden, with a few small but fun references scattered throughout.   After months of rumours, speculation, and fan castings, it finally seems like the one and only Keanu Reeves has been cast as Shadow the Hedgehog in Sonic 3 . Many loved the idea of The Batman's Robert Pattinson as Shadow, others hoped that rumour about Anakin Skywalker himself Hayden Christensen taking it on was true, but somehow the casting gods have given us an even better result: Keanu Reeves. This comes from sources that spoke with The Hollywood Reporter , so it's not outright set in stone just yet, but THR has a long history of accurately reporting on behind the scenes news in the film industry so it's a safe bet.   Sonic Adventure 2 fans, it'll soon be your time, as it's been confirmed that the greatest song from all of the series' games, Live and Learn, will be in Sonic 3. Last week, the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was released, mostly just giving us a good look at the game's logo - as well as some casting confirmations, too . More importantly, though, is the audio that was paired with said trailer.   Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day, perhaps for all time. Sonic Adventure 2 is more of a footnote in the Sonic series history these days, but back in 2001 it was an event. Sega wanted to make a big deal out of the fact their hedgehog had reached 10 years old. There was a demo CD bundled with Phantasy Star Online.
