- I played a visual novel about the terror of having a 'casual' boss and a job that wants you to conform to society's expectations—but not the ones involving economic stability - 27 July 2025
Truer than You is a visual novel about the gig economy. You're hired by a start-up run by a techbro who wears "fun" t-shirts—always a warning sign—to complete vague tasks delivered via phone app. It's sort of like Fiverr only the jobs range from helping someone who might be an artist or might be a terrorist record a threatening video to being someone's plus-one at an event they don't want to attend alone like Jenny Got-No-Friends... - Truer than You hits Steam May 28! - 22 May 2025
Truer than You is about the search for meaning in a conformist society - set in a microcosm where commodified relationships, tech bros, climate activists, bored housewives and undercover artists are all in the mixture. The androgyne main character Rin arrives in an unfamiliar city, to start their new position at a secretive company that rents out actors for real life situations. This is the start of a new life, far away from the daily struggles at Rin’s home on a small island. But as Rin gets on with their new endeavours, their past is catching up with them, and they’ll have to deal with who they are and will become. Truer than You was conceived based upon an article we read about a real company renting out people to play others in social situations. We were still working on Knife Sisters, but thought: This might be the set-up for our next game! We have been producing this game since 20…

Our existential themed visual novel Truer than You is part of Steam Next Fest! Truer than You is about the search for meaning in a capitalist society - set in a microcosm where commodified relationships, tech bros, climate activists, bored housewives and undercover artists are all in the mixture - portrayed with comic book style graphics and a bubble gum pastel palette. For the Next Fest, we have updated the demo - the updates are listed below. Demo updates: We have added a new intro to the game. The rating given by clients is now shown in the assignment details in the in-game app, and the mean rating is shown on the app’s starting page. The whole assignment system is updated, and this demo is the first that uses this new system. We managed to keep the Chinese localization of the demo, while rewriting a lot of the functionality. The in-game menu has gotten some new icons, and we took ou…
