- Ultimate Wizard Steam Page Launch - 24 April 2026
Fellow Hunters,Last week I launched the Steam page for Ultimate Wizard (and made a cross-promo announcement that Steam doesn't push). The latest work in progress game from me! It's a 3D roguelite survivor game similar to Megabonk and Vampire Survivors but with a complex spell augment system similar to Path of Exile. I know it's quite a bit different from Ravenous Horde, but if you find it interesting, a wishlist would help immensely! For those here for the zombies, I'll return for some more zombie action in the future!Thank you, for all the support in any form you have given.- Rinke

- Ravenous Horde: A post-mortem & going from free to paid - 19 November 2025
Fellow Hunters,It's been almost 2 weeks since the launch, and whilst there was a large interest, the game turned into a dumpster fire financially. Today I'd like to post about it in a post-mortem, which is common in the game industry. It's a way of looking back onto a game development process and analyze what went wrong or right. And how to improve upon it and how those who read this could prevent it happening to them. The DataThe data doesn't lie. Ravenous Horde (including the 'Support The Developer' DLC) has made $203 in gross revenue in the past 2 weeks. You'd have to shave off returns, chargebacks, taxes, Steam's 30% cut etc. to get the profit number, which would not be that great. This is what I would consider the dumpster fire.As of now, the review score is 53% positive, which means it's 'Mixed'. From what I've heard having a mixed review score is not the end of the world and it sh…
- PvE + Balance Update (Patch 1.0.1) - 11 November 2025
Fellow Hunters,I've read all your reviews, messages and forum topics. Patch 1.0.1 is here along with the first few balance changes.PvE ModeI've set up an PvE server, which plays a bit differently from the PvP ones you have experienced so far.In PvE servers, the changes are as follows:Whenever you die as a Hunter during the active game round (so not during the intro) you'll leave behind a gravestone and will be able to spectate around you. You'll also show up on the minimap.Other players that are still alive can revive you at a cost of 1000 points. You can join mid-round and and spawn as a Hunter. There's no last hunter if everyone dies. You can see the difference between PvE and PvP servers on the server browser menu.Example of a dead hunter that can be revived.I've prioritised the PvE game mode as quite some people mentioned it. You can now blast those dumb AI zombies without having to ge…
- Patch 1.0.0D - 6 November 2025
Fellow Hunters,Here are some notes on the new patch. It's 11PM, time to go to bed. If you update the client the new servers are ready to welcome you. Tomorrow morning the old servers will be turned off so its a smooth transition.1.0.0D Patch Notes:Fixed glitch spots on Factory, Tropicana, Port, Metro, Oil RigFixed an issue with the leaderboard. (I presume this time)Player zombies melee damage is lowered. Keep in mind the extra damage perk still lets you hit harder.Slightly increased the minigun damage by about ~20% for the last hunter.Fixed a bug where the in-game store did not work. Also I've seen a lot of people requesting a PvE only variant (where you only murder AI zombies). I've noted it down and will think about how to solve that problem (the problem being what do you do when you die as a hunter with 14mins left on the clock). Would love to add it as a variant. Thanks to everyone fo…

- Server tools, Patch 1.1.0 and 48 hours to go! - 4 November 2025
Fellow Hunters,The Ravenous Horde Dedicated Server tools have been released! You can find a small guide over here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2179490/discussions/0/725769023703355993/The timer is ticking down and it's only 2 days till launch day. Here's what is going to happen on launch day:The demo game will be taken offline, and the demo servers will be converted to the launch version.Your demo save files will be converted to the release version once you open the full game. The full game and DLC will be available at the indicated time on the store page.I'll be monitoring the servers in case they catch fire or if additional servers are needed.Patch 1.1.0I'm already at work for the upcoming patch 1.1.0 which will introduce NPC Hunters and in-round perks to be bought. - 2 Weeks Till Launch + Patch Notes - 22 October 2025
Fellow Hunters!Only 2 weeks are left till launch day and today I'd like to talk about some changes in the demo / launch version and upcoming changes.Launch ChangesCurrently in the demo whenever you join an empty server mid-round you'd have to deploy as a zombie and then instantly the round ends (due to no hunters being alive). A bit confusing so currently in the launch version, the server will reset the map whenever one joins an empty server during mid-round. This is a temporary placeholder as the actual fix is coming shortly post launch. (see Upcoming Changes)Also in the demo, there's a bullet spread formula that is also in effect when aiming down the sights. So when aiming down the sights at a zombie far away, the bullet could still miss. This is something that didn't felt right as when aiming you are "shown" where the bullet is supposed to go. Currently in the launch version when aim…
- Demo Update - Patch 0.2.0 - 29 August 2025
Fellow Hunters,In preparation for the full release this November, the demo is now updated to the last balancing / optimisation build. Things like achievements and the store are disabled (as they don't belong in a demo). This is the last demo update before the full release. - Ravenous Horde Releases November 6th! - 18 August 2025
Fellow Hunters,I'm pleased to let you all know that Ravenous Horde is set to release November 6th! The game will be available around approximately 10AM CEST. (1AM PDT / 4AM EDT)From that point on the server tools should also become available for you to deploy, and the demo will be taken down. (Any progress made on the demo will carry over to the main game.)What has been doneHere's a shortlist, not everything done is on this list:Zombie AI has been improved to wait a bit when they get near you, they won't instantly melee or explode anymore but rather give you some time to get away.Zombie AI has its health reduced at the round start, but the amount of zombies that spawn over time is greatly increased so it feels actually like a horde.Traps now have an icon on the minimap. You now get 3 bonus objectives on every round, these are personal and randomized and will give you 1000 extra XP per co…
- What's being worked on - 27 June 2025
Fellow Hunters,It's time again to update you all on what has been done and what's going to come. I've read all the feedback that has been given and taken it into account for the plans before the release at the end of this year. What has been doneLandminesI've added a new special weapon, the landmine. You'll get 5 at the start of the round and can place them underneath you. When one gets blown up a new one will be re-added to your inventory in 30 seconds. This is to ensure it's as useful as the flamethrower and sentry (both have unlimited ammo) and the delay is to make sure you can't keep spamming it. Landmines will have their own perks at full release too. Also you are no longer damaged by your own grenades and landmines.PerformanceI've done another performance pass, mostly affecting the Tropicana map. But also all other maps as some lights now no longer cast heavy shadows, and several ef…

- Demo Update (0.1.4B) - 14 May 2025
Fellow Hunters, First of all thanks to everyone for playing! I've received lots of feedback to work on, and this patch fixes some of the bigger ones. It also makes the game easier as it was proven to be quite difficult. Patch notes - Reduced the base range of the sentry (10m to 6m), the increased range perk now adds 4m. - Reduced the scaling of the amount of zombies when with multiple players. - Reduced the scaling of HP of zombies when with multiple players. - Increased the delay of which the zombies attack from 0.7s to 1s. (Does not affect player controlled zombies) - Added a delay in the attac…
- The Demo is released! - 9 May 2025
Fellow Hunters! With great pleasure I can tell you all that the demo has been released! Enjoy your stay at the apocalypse. It's been a long ~2.5 years of work and many months to come before it fully releases. In the Demo you can level up to rank 20, and unlock anything that is available till that level. Any progress you make during the Demo will carry over to the main game when it releases. And some other news: Ravenous Horde is part of the OTK Games Expo! Join in on Twitch on May 25th to see what is coming for Ravenous Horde! What's next? For starters: expect a patch next week to fix any immediate issues. I've seen some minor ones that need addressing such as: - Some Japanese/Chinese/Korean characters are not shown correctly or at all at some places - AI zombies are throwing bodyparts like there's no tomorrow when they get angry - Some glitchy blurred objects on some maps - AI zombies…
- Map updates, Traps and weapon upgrades - 8 April 2025
Fellow Hunters, Some additions have been made to the gameplay to make it more enjoyable. All maps now have 2 traps. For now all of them are flamethrower traps, but expect a few to change or some different ones to be added over time as the release date of the full game gets closer. You can activate them by their red control panel. They have a cost (1000 points for now), a duration and a cooldown after the duration. So decide wisely when to use them! Another addition is that every map now has an upgrade booth. At the upgrade booth you can upgrade your currently equipped weapon for a price. You can upgrade all weapons 5 times (even some special equipment, like the flamethrower), each time having an increased cost to do so. But in return your weapon will do up to 50% more damage. Costs vary from 1000 up to 10.000 points, so again be wise in when to go for an upgrade or when to not do it if…
- Demo Release Date - 14 March 2025
Fellow Hunters, To dive straight into it: May 9th marks the day the Demo will be released! You can view the demo page here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3577400/Ravenous_Horde_Demo/ It's been a long road but the game is in a great state! Since the last post in January lots of improvements have been made and the game is polished a lot more. Changes since the start of the year The game now tracks several statistics, from how much you play to how much you fired every weapon. You can now select skins for your weapons! Some have to be earned, some have to be found and for some you need to be lucky. More skins are planned (free and paid for later when the game releases) The UI got cleaned up a lot. It's easier on the eyes and not as horrible as before. Loads of other small changes have been made, some interesting and most not. Here are some examples: When you level up, other players in…
- 2025 Plans, New map, Monetization and more! - 13 January 2025
Fellow Hunters, It's been a while since the last post, so today I'd like to get you all up to date with what I've been working on. And as the new year is in full swing and so is the development of Ravenous Horde! I'll go over what has been done, what will be reworked and what is coming in 2025! New map: Casino For the past months I've been working on a new map. (amongst other things) Casino is the 5th map available and is aimed at giving the player some more things to do during gameplay rather than only surviving the horde. Take a good look around in the dark, see if you can find anything that might light up the place, or worse, something fuelling someone's hidden gambling addiction. Casino is also the first map home to new cosmetics and weapon skins. I'll leave it up the community to figure out how to obtain them. The previous 4 maps will be looked at as well to see if any interactive…
