While a histogram is downloading, an ellipsis will appear in the top-left corner of the histograms screen. Once the download is complete, the screen will display the number of scores downloaded. If this number is less than 9,999, it will also represent the number of players who completed that level. Corrected typos in the Quick Reference Guide. Fixed a visual bug affecting certain GIFs. Updated the conditions for triggering the "Mind of a Machine" achievement. Did you know you can hold down Q while recording GIFs to hide UBITs?

- Leaderboards FIX - 7 January 2025
As the number of players in the game increased, I noticed some issues with the histograms. Initially, the histograms started growing as expected, but over time, they began to look incorrect. Some lower percentiles appeared nonsensical, which was pointed out by another user. It seemed as though half of the histogram data was missing, prompting me to investigate further. I discovered that the issue stemmed from the steam_download_scores function, which only retrieves the top 100 scores. This limitation is likely in place to reduce network traffic. When the game had a small number of players, this restriction didn’t affect the leaderboards, so the issue went unnoticed. However, as the player base grew, the impact became evident. To address this, I implemented a solution that downloads scores in chunks of 100 across 10 calls, allowing the game to retrieve up to 1,000 scores. This approach r…

As promised in December, the game is now completely free for everyone to enjoy—forever! This decision comes after modest sales during the first month and a half after release. While the game was still profitable, financial gain was never my primary motivation (I have an independent job outside of game development). My true passion lies in creating Zach-like games with open-ended puzzles and intricate technical solutions. Now, my goal is to reach a wider audience. If significant revenue isn’t feasible, I’d much rather let more people experience and enjoy the game for free. The game is fully complete and features no microtransactions. I’m excited to announce that starting January 2025, ABI-DOS will be available for free on Steam. This decision is not a reflection of the game’s quality—which I wholeheartedly believe is excellent—or its reception, which has been very positive. I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve created, and I’m thrilled that many players have called it a worthy successor to Zachtronics-style games. That said, as a niche title, ABI-DOS has seen only modest sales since its release a month and a half ago. While there was a slight increase in sales during the Winter sale, the numbers remain low. Although the game could still be profitable into 2025, I’ve decided it’s better to make it free now to reach a broader audience and let more players experience it, even though it’s relatively early in its lifecycle. Patch Notes: You can now press ALT + 1/2/3 to quickly select a wire type. Levels with completed challenges are now marked in the main menu for easier tracking. If errors occur during a simulation, stopping it will keep the game on the same test case for easier debugging.
