- Mistwinter Bay One Year Anniversary! - 15 November 2025
Hello, everyone! The two of us here at Swordlake Entertainment want to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of Mistwinter Bay's release with you! It's crazy to think that it has already been an entire year since we hit the release-button and anxiously awaited the reception of a game that we had put so many years of work into. Thankfully, the game seems to have resonated with most players and that, we are very grateful for. A massive thank-you to all of you beautiful people who have given the game a chance - you are what allows us to keep going! While we're still quite a ways off of earning a proper living by making games, we have been able to start the production of a new game (more on that below). But now, let's talk about the game we're all here to celebrate!Player statisticsAs you already know, there are many ways to play the game. Some of the results of this freedom are reflected in the S…
- Fix version 1.2.0.5 - 20 September 2025
Hello, everyone! This is another quick update addressing the following things: Islynor no longer becomes unavailable for marriage if her personal quest has already been completed before completing Llemyon's second personal quest Fixed some wording when planning the sovereign's wedding
- Fix version 1.2.0.4 - 16 August 2025
Hello, everyone! This is just a quick update addressing the following things: Fixed incorrect references in the endings for The Kraken and the Poisoned Well long events, so their endings should now show up accurately and (hopefully) not freeze the game, regardless of which other long events you have or haven't completed Made sure that only the right naval scenes show up when fighting against Ophelia during the first month, using attack as main focus Fixed a spelling mistake when fighting against Ophelia during the first month, using attack as main focus Thanks for playing! We'll keep posting fixes if we receive bug reports that we manage to find the issues for, otherwise, we'll keep working on our new game!
- Fix version 1.2.0.3 - 11 March 2025
Hello, everyone! This is just a quick fix attempting to adress a crash related to trying to continue the Night Of Lights-event when pairing up townsfolk.
- Fix version 1.2.0.2 - 7 March 2025
Hello, everyone! We're back with a small bugfix that addresses a pretty serious bug and other, more minor ones. Fixed Fixed a bug that could make special short events repeat every new month, regardless of if they’ve already been completed or not or meet the necessary requirements Made sure that the game doesn’t crash when trying to load the endings for long event 16 (The Kraken) and long event 17 (Poisoned wells). When loading a save that was made during the ending ceremony, the background should no longer be black but show the officiant properly The “custom play” long event should now display the correct dialogue option if choosing to put on an existing play when only having Erewen and one other person in town. Adjusted Most special short events can no longer appear on months when long events should start
- Fix version 1.2.0.1 - 4 March 2025
Hello, everyone! This is just a quick fix to adress a bug where the player's outfit would disappear/be replaced by a completely random sprite (like hair or body decor) when loading a pre-version 1.2 save. Fixing this bug means that there's a chance that you may end up with a "default" outfit when loading an old savefile, so you'll have to reselect your original outfit again (this is not a bug, it's part of the fix). Sorry for the inconvenience!
- Update 1.2.0.0 - 28 February 2025
Hello, everyone! We are back again with the final content update for Mistwinter Bay. With this slew of new content, we’re up to a total of 105 short events, 18 long events and 31 “special” short events. Combined with all the other content in the game, that’s around 1.7-1.8 million words. Needless to say, making all of this content and moving into the fifth year of development has left us quite exhausted, especially creatively, which is why this is the final content update. We will talk a bit more about that under a separate headline, but first, let’s look at what’s new! Added CHEATS! (more information under the dedicated headline) A new long event that can only occur in Late Spring, moving into Early Summer, allows you to celebrate the holiday of Night Of Lights in various ways with different characters Two new long events that don’t have any requirements allow you to (potentially) see…
- Update: Version 1.1.0.0 - 9 January 2025
Hello, everyone! New year, new content for Mistwinter Bay! This update is called 1.1 since it is the first one that adds new story content, namely 15 new short main events. We plan to have about 1 or 2 more of these content updates and at that point, we will have added what we wanted to the game. We will of course keep fixing bugs after that, but there will be no new content - not that that should be an issue, considering how much there already is! Anyhow, here's what's new in this update: New content With the addition of 12 new meetups, all townsfolk now have 2 meetups each! Just as the other meetups, the new ones are counted as short main events The character duos who have new meetups are: Dawn and Dough, Cecil and MG, Erewen and Yamileth, Ulesse and Te’Rohga, Englia and Edmund, Hector and Islynor, Lynx and Ulvar, Oscar and Amelie, Lilith and Rocca, Jerome and Eugene, Euphemia and Lai…
- Fix notes: Version 1.0.2.1 - 8 December 2024
Hello, everyone! This is a very small fix, addressing the following: Fixed Townsfolk who are in a relationship with someone no longer lose reputation if another, unrelated townsperson ends up in a negative situation (i.e. dies, moves out, is imprisoned, detests) Added/Fixed It is now possible to take screenshots using Steam’s screenshot button (F12 by default) Screenshots are also saved locally in the same place as the savefiles and other necessary files. You can access them by going to user -> AppData -> Local -> Mistwinter_Bay (show hidden files needs to be turned on in order for the AppData-folder to be visible) Please be aware of the fact that the game will freeze when a screenshot is taken. It may freeze for multiple seconds, depending on the hardware and where the screenshot is taken. For example, taking screenshots in the town view will take much longer than in the map view. This…
- Mistwinter Bay Update: Version 1.0.2.0 - 4 December 2024
Hello, everyone! We've released a new update for Mistwinter Bay - version 1.0.2.0. It's a pretty small update, but it has some serious quality of life additions. Here's what's new: Fixed Holding down a key when entering a custom name of any sort now only enters one copy of the letter Added There is now a Skip-button in dialogue. It is located above the Log and Pause-buttons When the button is held down, the dialogue is sped up. The dialogue will resume when the button is released The dialogue automatically resumes when an option is presented (i.e. it’s not possible to skip past choices) There may be some issues with certain visual effects (mostly magic) when skipping through dialogue, but it shouldn’t be game breaking Regular savefiles now get 3 additional autosaves separate from the regular autosave and Seasonal Autosave. These new autosaves occur when accepting to enter a main event w…
- Fix notes: Version 1.0.1.1 - 25 November 2024
Hello, everyone! We've just published a fix for the game, addressing the following things: Fixed Made sure that Neferu’s personal quest can be accessed Fixed crashes related to Eugene’s fifth hangout Whoever is sent out as a mage to deal with Damian, succeeds and isn’t okay with killing in self-defense no longer loses excessive amounts of reputation. Additionally, all “extra kills” (hundreds, at points) that are presented in the end game statistics due to this bug are now reduced to the more reasonable number of 1 Separated two previously overlapping dialogue options when renovating Artbell house Corrected the position of Marjorie’s face in Amelie’s personal quest Eria and Llemyon should now show up to the sovereign’s and Camilla’s wedding if they became uninterested in the sovereign due to creating an alliance with their country and Meblia in Camilla’s first personal quest The coin boo…
- Update: Version 1.0.1.0 - 19 November 2024
Hello, everyone! We have just uploaded the first update for Mistwinter Bay where we have fixed a few bugs, done some balancing and added some things, including an Easy Mode! We thought it would take longer to get things done, so we're pleased to get it out so soon. Here's a more detailed list of what we've done: Fixes Fixed a crash when opening up the collection menu in the throne room at the start of a month Fixed a crash when receiving an item through an item popup that occurred when particles were turned off Fixed a crash that occurred when attempting to start a new main event after completing Eria’s first personal quest in a particular way Fixed an issue where there was an empty line of dialogue in the Sasee’s letters-event Fixed a bug where you could click on the bridges when reputation popups were on screen Made sure that buttons for single lots show up when sorting for buildings…

- Full Game Progress Update #5 - 23 August 2024
Hello, everyone! We have an exciting announcement: if everything goes according to plan, the full version of Mistwinter Bay will be released in November! We will give an official release date announcement later, probably towards the end of September. However, keep in mind that we are just two people working on the game with a currently very strict schedule. That means that if anything goes wrong – there are major technical difficulties, one of us gets the flu, etc – the game will be delayed, most likely until February 2025. But we will of course do everything in our power to get the game out in November! We will discuss our thoughts about the November release under a separate headline. But first, let’s look at a list of things we have done since the last progress update: Implemented the remaining main story Implemented the rest of Camilla’s, Orreg’s and Se’Vah’s stories Implemented Llem…
- Full Game Progress Update #4 - 23 May 2024
Hello, everyone! We have been working hard on Mistwinter Bay over the past few months and have reached a massive milestone in the game’s development: all 32 townsfolk are now completely finished! We will take a look at that under a separate headline, but first, I’ll present you with a list of things we have implemented since the new demo was released. Since there are so many things, I will divide the list into different subcategories (and I might also have forgotten to mention some things). Keep in mind that these updates have been made to the full version of the game – no version of the demo will contain anything of what is mentioned in this post. We don’t have time to update the demo. Loading times Significantly improved loading times Loading between dialogue, start-of-month throne room, town and map is instant No lag or loading when opening any menu (like the roster) As a compromise,…
- New Demo Out Now! - 19 January 2024
Hello, everyone! We have some very exciting news to share: a brand new update of Mistwinter Bay’s demo is live now! This version is called 0.2.0.0, since it has seen so many changes from the previous playable version. Naturally, this means that there are many, many differences between the versions, so we won’t list all of them here. If you’re curious about some of the new features, characters, buildings and general content featured in this new demo, we suggest you read our old full game-updates. Most of what we have talked about in those updates are available in this demo. However, since it is a demo, there are still a few restrictions on what you can do in the game (more on that under it’s own headline below). We have also added a few things that we haven’t mentioned in any other update, so we’ll list those now: • Improved character creator ◦ The option to freely pick colors for most a…
- Full Game Progress Update #3 - 26 September 2023
Hello, everyone! This is a short but sweet update mainly serving as a way for us to inform you of some changes to the continued development of the game (it’s good news, so no need to worry). But first off, we’ll take a look at a short list summarizing the work that has been done since Full Game Progress Update 2 in July. This is what we have done since then: • Expanded the character creator with new earrings • Added new characters ◦ Added and finished Islynor, Rocca, Amelie and Marla Geraldine • Added new buildings ◦ Black Market (includes generally better rates when trading), Vineyard, Bathhouse and a Town Hall (which reduces the number of months before you can lower taxes) ◦ Added all of the other buildings as well! • Added particle effects to unbuilt lots so that they are easier to spot when you aren’t interacting with them • Added particle effects to all sorts of buildings in the to…
- Full Game Progress Update #2 - 28 July 2023
Hello, everyone! It’s been a very long time, but we’re back with more information about the progress on the full game! Since it’s been so long, we have had time to add multiple characters, buildings and features, as well as implement a bunch of quality-of-life-improvements. First off, we’ll take a look at a long list summarizing the work that has been done since Full Game Progress Update 1 in March. Since we've added a lot of things, we can only go into detail on a few of them. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to leave a comment and we’ll answer it as soon as we can. Since the last post, we’ve done the following in the full version of the game: • Expanded the character creator ◦ 2 new body types ◦ 1 new head shape ◦ 1 new face (eyes + mouth) ◦ Lip color options ◦ Eyeshadow color options ◦ Added the ability to randomize names and appearance • Added new characters ◦ Finished Doug…
