Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this. Based on feedback from some older reviews, I've decided to remove the demo from the store page and port it into the base game. This will prevent any further negative impressions before playing the game. The demo has not been updated in several months as the main focus has been on the base game. The demo isn't the only thing that's been added to the base game though, I've also added a very experimental forest survival minigame. Introduction Today a major update has been released - version 1.20. This may seem like a confusing version number as the previous build was version 0.0.1.9.7 and we've jumped into a completely different scale. The primary decision to change the version number is due to the release of the game and lack of time for development - the original plan did not quite fit the end result - we were also breaking Steam's agreement for a game release with the previous version number. Steam Deck & Gamepad Support We will not be verifying compatibility for the Steam deck any time soon, this would take far too long and would require large amounts of testing. Are you ready for the full release of Shrieking Darkness this Halloween? I've been working tirelessly for the past 3 years on Shrieking Darkness in my spare time and it's finally time to let the bird fly from its nest. The game will have minor bugs during release, no game is perfect but it will at least be beatable and an enjoyable, frightening experience. I've recently started a new full-time job, so working on the game is a lot harder now but updates will be coming. You will be able to purchase the game for free on the 31st of October 2023, it would mean a lot for you to try it out. Release Progress Update I have just received recent confirmation that Shrieking Darkness has been approved by Valve to be released on Steam. This was a large part in ensuring the game's release date would be the 31st of October as there are often many actions to be taken to get a game approved (and there were). On release day, there will be a 10% discount on the game making it possible for more players to join us in celebrating a long 3 years of development and making Halloween the official anniversary of the game's release. - The demo is now available! - 7 February 2023
We're pleased to finally announce the release of the Shrieking Darkness gameplay demo on Steam! You can download and play the demo by heading over to the store page and pressing "Download". The demo version of the game deviates from the main storyline of the base game, however the purpose of the demo is to simply showcase gameplay features and graphics. It's relatively short in duration, beaten in about 25 minutes. The demo includes two simple achievements and steam cloud saving, you can also link your Renovate Software account for additional cloud-saving functionality. Further development could have taken place on extending the gameplay of the demo and including more gameplay mechanics from the base game, however with the deadline of the full game releasing in just half a year, we have to change our priorities.

- Development Update - Infrastructure Improvements Delayed - 11 November 2022
Infrastructure Improvements Delay - Breakdown Due to a lack of communication from our local internet service provider, the test builds have been delayed for launch by at least 4 weeks. With incredibly slow upload speeds that compete with dial-up internet and the largest development projects we've ever worked with, backing up our work is currently not really an option (on site backups are now being considered). Also, this means that work has also been delayed in developing the game as we can't do this while uploading the development files.
