- Patch Update - 24 January 2026
First things first. We've had a crash for some users on launch. It was a bear to track down as no one on the team could recreate it, but enough users complained about that we could not assume it was isolated. It ended up being some old code in the graphics engine we use, but it required lots of logs, back and forth, and time from one of our players. So a HUGE shout out to TimSta_03!! Thank you! We never would have been able to track it down without you. We've had some fixes in beta for a while now, but not everyone knows about or ever installs the beta version. We've promoted the beta with this release and now everyone will get the fixes/features. There was also a highscore recording bug that has been fixed for a while now in the beta. - Fixed Wavremap.png error - Added "Unsplit Unit" button which is shown whatever the formation the split unit is in - Fixed repeated scenarios bio portra…
- Scourge of War Engine Update - 26 September 2025
BUG CORRECTIONSBug correction is always on top of our “to do” list. I’m really proud of the community we have because of its constant suggestions and feedbacks. This helped us a lot in finding bugs which sometimes could be very difficult to find. The last effort we put in this area is the correction of the bug that make a Multiplayer battle to crash when a player leave the game: this should be fixed now UI IMPROVEMENTSA request that has been hanging there for so many years, is the possibility to invert the mouse wheel to zoom in and out in the 3D map. That was actually something you could already do but that means to go in a certain folder in another folder, search for a certain file, add a command line, etc. Now you can go in the Options screen, also in game, and tick the Invert mouse wheel option. Voilà!OTHER NEW FEATURESI think that the most exciting improvement here is the improved d…
- Bug Fix Patch - 26 May 2025
We completely redid the entire AI for dismounted cavalry, going back to the GB roots. Also fixed an issue with MP sandbox. Thanks to Nicolo, we also have a fix for the water not drawing sometimes. Have a great Memorial Day!
- New Release - 19 May 2025
Since Remastered and GB share the same engine, we posted an update for both tonight. We've been working hard on the GB release and found some issue that could affect both games. We've also worked on some of the sdk tools and other QOL issues.
- NorbSoftDev GitHub - 18 May 2025
We've decided that it makes more sense to post our sdk files on github rather than ship with the game. It's easier to find the files and you can use the source to modify the program to your needs. For the workshop tool there is a ./bin folder that contains the built program. You do have to have a steam_appid.txt file in order to run the program. That file contains the steam app id of the target file. So for GB, you put in one appid, for WL another. We've also included the two sample files, so it should be pretty easy. It's a very basic program and I think it's based on other examples we've seen. We also are putting our AI source and our other SDK tools here.
- Resolution - 6 May 2025
We just heard back from Steam and the GB DLC is no longer able to be purchased. We've addressed the issues and that they cannot be solved. The same content and remastered game is now available through the GB Standalone product. It really is exactly the same which is what caused so many issues. We promised we'd deliver it as a DLC and we promised that we'd deliver it as a standalone. We did, but we did not take into account how well Steam would handle what we were trying to do. Really, why should they? It was my crazy plan. We will have the stand alone on sale again if you missed the wargamer sale. But the good news is that you should be able to get a refund for the DLC now. So please do as soon as you can. Now that this is over we are working on moving forward and fixing any remastered issues. NOTE that both games use the same engine. They will both get the updates. All future plans to…
- That Didn't Work - 29 April 2025
The Gettysburg DLC did not go as planned. Our testing, our planning ignored one major area that is a no go. Can Steam support what we are trying to do. It cannot. I'm not blaming it on anyone but me and our team. We should have caught this and known before we released. Our plan was to put GB as DLC for WL and WL as DLC for GB. So no matter which path you choose, you can get what you want. We tried to be everything to everyone and it failed miserably. Soon after launch players pointed out these issues and research showed that there was no good solution. In our testing we were just trying to get everything working. We mostly tested the DLC, as the stand alone game would be the same engine. We got everything working at the last hour. But just did not spend enough time integration testing. Even with all that there are still bugs we missed and it sucks. But all we can do is own up to them an…
- Remastered GB DLC Ready! - 27 April 2025
Now ready for the soon to be released GB DLC.
- Almost There! - 14 April 2025
Last year we made some promises to our players. We said that there would be a big sale on the price of GB. We said that the same engine would run GB and WL. We said that even if you bought WL first, you'd be able to buy GB as DLC. I wish I could take all that back, but I can't so we did it. It would have been much easier to just have the two separate games, or just one game. But I have a big mouth and we all like to do what ever we can to say thanks to everyone for supporting Scourge Of War. We initially moved to Steam to take advantage of their MP and Lobby system. We did that. We also got both games out fairly quickly. This last step of completely moving GB to the new engine has been tough. We will be releasing it all towards the end of the month and it will be greatly discounted, as we promised. We only hope we don't miss too many issues. There will still be some tweaking involved in…
- Updates - 20 January 2025
Waterloo and DLC updates!! Added Spanish and Chinese Officially. Various bug fixes. See Readme because Flavio works hard on keeping them up to date :)
- Dev Update 20241026 - 26 October 2024
The two biggest projects in converting GB to the remastered engine are the screens and the AI. Looking back on how I did the AI dll, I'm not very happy with the work. It's very limiting and hard to understand. I am looking to redesign the interface as doing the same for GB is just building on a crumbling tower. The concept of the AI is to receive the information and then issue a series of commands. It should be simple. The first pass I just moved code from the main engine to a dll and it caused a ton of odd functionality. The forced checks should not happen in the AI. Meaning the forced fallback, retreat, and route are not AI routines. They are engine rules and therefore should not be moddable. But other items, such as the full strategic AI should be included in the DLL rather than the odd mix that is there. The design concept that I am striving towards is where machine learning, behavi…
- Remastered Waterloo DLCs - 9 October 2024
We forgot to update everyone when we released all the DLCs. So here is the late update in case you did not have the DLCs on wishlist. You may have noticed that the Wavre, and now Quatre Bras map graphics have been improved to the Remastered standard. "We are continually improving all aspects of the game etc etc" - NSD Team :) We had a big ugly on our last release. We had been working on the font sizes and screens, in doing that we found out (too late) that the first install of the game looked absolutely horrible! We apologize for that as that's not the quality for which we strive. It's fixed in this release. We are working on translating the store pages into all of our supported languages. Our latest releases also have the beta of the Chinese language translation. Thank you!

Scourge Of War Waterloo - Ligny is now available. More famous battles recreated in the SOW engine on remastered maps. His Excellency FeldMarschall Blucher promised to engage and hold the French army here for the time necessary. Your corps is in the front line: it is important to hold the line of river Ligne, in order to do this you have to defend the villages and buildings on the left bank of river. The French army must not break our right or we risk to be separated from the Dutch-British Army
- Dev Update 9/10/2024 - 10 September 2024
MP saves. That's been the bane of my existence (besides trolls) for the past few weeks. Made significant progress yesterday and was able to send the 33MB saved game across the wire during setup. A long time ago Mitra created a way to do MP saves. It was a hack, but it did work if you set it up correctly. Everyone can thank him that we're even doing this as it was never part of the original plans. I had to ask the rest of the team how it even worked. He created an ini file that had the name of a saved game. So the scenario loads, everyone picks their officer, then the same saved game is loaded by everyone at startup. The issue is that you have to get the saved game to everyone and they have to have the scenario and setup the ini file correctly. I've taken that and changed it a little. Now if you save MP games, it creates a saved game in the NetServ folder. That's the folder we use to lau…
