- The mod we called 'the best Fallout game you'll play this year' back in 2018 just launched on GOG - 31 July 2026
Fallout 4 remaster, Fallout: New Vegas remaster, Fallout 5, Fallout 3 prequel for Fallout 76, Fallout (the TV series) Season 3, and whatever Fallout game Obsidian is now working on … there's a whoooooole lotta Fallout coming your way if you're a Fallout fan... Read more.
- Todd Howard checks his calendar, sighs quietly, and tells us all again that he doesn't have a grudge against Obsidian or Fallout: New Vegas - 17 July 2026
If there's one thing we know about Todd Howard, it's that he doesn't hate Obsidian. We know this because he keeps telling us. He keeps telling us because Fallout fans won't stop speculating that secretly, deep down in his heart of hearts, Todd Howard hates Obsidian ... Read more.
- Fallout: New Vegas director Josh Sawyer reveals his optimal outcome for the Mojave Wasteland - 13 July 2026
Fallout: New Vegas is a sprawling RPG filled with sketchy factions, greasy NPCs, rubbery morality, and tough decisions, all of which ultimately lead the player to one of four possible outcomes that share one thing in common: They're not great. Which isn't to say they're not satisfying, just that there's no optimal outcome where everybody's happy and nobody gets hurt. The wasteland is a pretty crappy place, after all, so outcomes tend to be crappy too... Read more.
- Obsidian still have "the same DNA" that went into New Vegas and KOTOR 2, The Outer Worlds 2 director insists, following chatter around layoffs - 13 July 2026
Last week, Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 developers Obsidian lost around quarter of their staff to Microsoft's mass layoffs. The studio were subsequently reported to be pivoting to start work on a new Fallout game helmed by New Vegas director Josh Sawyer, with a sequel to Avowed all but canned in the process. Cue, naturally, people like me discussing what sort of game the shift towards a new Fallout all these years after New Vegas could result in, and also some voices declaring that Obsidian just aren't as good as they used to be. Outer Worlds 2 director Brandon Adler, naturally, disagrees with the latter group of loudmouths. Read more
- Xbox's layoffs come with a push to focus on series like Fallout, so naturally New Vegas devs Obsidian have reportedly lost around a quarter of their staff - 7 July 2026
Xbox laid off around 1600 people yesterday , July 6th, as mass cuts accompanied by the decision to part ways with five studios were set in stone. This substantial upheaval's also had plenty of consequences for the studios staying under the Microsoft banner, including a more concerted push to get remaining staff working on Xbox's most lucrative series. Fallout, for example. That hasn't stopped the reportedly cuts including around a quarter of the staff at noted Fallout spin-off developers Obsidian. Read more
- Fallout: New Vegas director Josh Sawyer says Obsidian has 'Karma Police' who go through games making sure every skill gets enough cool stuff to do: 'We're not gonna leave you out to dry' - 28 June 2026
In a recent appearance on the Human Can Opener podcast , Obsidian design director Josh Sawyer talked about how the studio approached balance in Fallout: New Vegas, particularly with skill checks in dialogue and making sure different character builds got unique, cool reactivity throughout the game... - Josh Sawyer says the Fallout TV show is an 'amazing adaptation' of a videogame, and 'one of the best that I've seen' - 28 June 2026
There's one thing all videogame adaptations in film and TV have in common: they stink. Or at least, that's how it felt for a long time—personally, I stopped adding the caveat 'good for a videogame adaptation' after I watched the Fallout show and learned these things didn't have to be somewhere between middling and godawful. But what do Fallout's designers and developers think of the show?.. Read more.
- Fallout: New Vegas director Josh Sawyer says the NCR and Caesar's Legion feel so real because their members disagree and challenge each other: 'You have to wrestle with the fact that it contains multitudes' - 26 June 2026
Fallout: New Vegas is an incredible game, and its factions are its best part. The New California Republic (NCR), Caesar's Legion, and the Securitrons of Mr House are omnipresent in the Mojave, and there's barely an NPC in the game that doesn't shine light on some new aspect of each one... - Fallout co-creator wants to make one last game before he retires 'for the second time' - 28 April 2026
Fallout co-creator Tim Cain, who is known for… well, co-creating Fallout, has been a font of videogame wisdom on his own personal YouTube channel for the past three years: That time is fast approaching its end, though, as Cain feels like he's coming to the end of both the stories he wanted to share when he began the endeavour... In a recent interview with YouTuber TKs-Mantis , former Obsidian creative director Chris Avellone revealed that the studio got in a spot of minor trouble over its depiction of the Rorschach Test in Fallout: New Vegas... Read more.

In a recent interview with YouTuber TKs-Mantis , former Obsidian creative director Chris Avellone said that he dislikes how Fallout: New Vegas' Wild Wasteland trait was implemented, and thinks it should have been separate from character creation... Read more.
- A minor Fallout: New Vegas quest got its own ending slide because the team was transfixed by the choice where you make the NCR's worst soldiers take Psycho - 25 April 2026
In a new video on his YouTube channel , Obsidian studio design director and Fallout: New Vegas lead Josh Sawyer described the company's largely vibes-based approach to which quests make it to its RPGs' signature "where are they now" ending slide shows. Along the way, he dove into the decisionmaking around a fairly minor New Vegas quest that got the treatment... Read more.
- Fallout: New Vegas dev says it could've been set in New Orleans because 'the vibe was so cool, the flavor was cool, [it would've been] so sweet' - 22 April 2026
Fallout: New Vegas writer and former Obsidian creative officer, Chris Avellone, has given a new interview to Fallout content creator TKs-Mantis , and it's a hefty one. Perhaps the most eyebrow-raising assertion is that Bethesda doesn't have the source code for New Vegas (I've asked Bethesda about this, and haven't had a response yet), but there's plenty more: including one particular road not travelled for the series, alongside a healthy crank on the specul-a-tron about where Fallout might go next... - Fallout: New Vegas dev says Bethesda made the studio sit through 'a whole powerpoint about all the things Obsidian did wrong' - 22 April 2026
Fallout: New Vegas is one of those games that only seemed to rise in peoples' esteem as time's gone on—especially since it seems like a milestone marker for the last remnants of the series' more oldschool CRPG spirit before Fallout 4 saddled gamers with a voiced protagonist... Read more.
- After 15 years and 323 hours, I've finally beaten Fallout: New Vegas, and this game doesn't need mods as much as you think it does - 21 April 2026
I'm a lifelong RPG reroller: I'm obsessed with restarting these things over and over until I'm sure that my first time hitting the credits will be perfect . My white whale for the past 15 years? Fallout: New Vegas, one of my very favorite games, which I finally completed for the first time after 323 hours and I don't know how many characters... Read more.

- Fallout: New Vegas for the PS3 mod adds Fallout: New Vegas for the PS3 to Fallout: New Vegas for the PC - 4 April 2026
Some mods are utterly transformative: Tweaks to the baseline experience that feel like they were always there, or standalone campaigns worthy of their own retail release. I'm not talking about either of those today. I'm talking about Fallout: New Vegas for the PS3... Read more.
- Following a demo, DLC-sized New Vegas mod Fallout Chicago is aiming for a full release in 2027 - 20 March 2026
Earlier this week, the modders behind a Fallout: New Vegas expansion called Fallout Chicago released their first demo . With that milestone out of the way, they're certainly not resting on their laurels. They've put out a roadmap indicating that they're hoping to have all three acts of the mod's main story ready to go for a full release in the latter half of 2027. Read more
- The best Fallout game is 99 cents right now - 20 March 2026
Steam kicked off its Spring sale today and as usual, so much of my wishlist is on sale that I'm paralysed by choice. I probably won't buy anything. But I do know for certain that if I didn't already own Fallout: New Vegas I'd definitely be buying that, because it's going for a measly 99 cents ... Read more.
- Lost Fallout: New Vegas post-ending dialogue has been found and restored - 6 March 2026
One of many good ideas Obsidian had for Fallout: New Vegas that tragically had to be cut for time was that you'd be able to keep playing after the ending slideshow, sidequesting across a version of the Mojave Wasteland that reflected your decisions in the main campaign. And while modders restored a version of that vision a while back, now we've got a closer look at what Obsidian originally planned... Read more.
