• Bad News for Spellsphere, Good News for Other Games. - 14 June 2024

  Hi all, Got some more sad news about the release of Spellsphere's beta. Though Spellsphere is still my passion, I find it harder and harder to get the motivation to work on it. As such, I am announcing that Spellsphere's beta will take even more time to come out. Don't worry, as the game will still be worked on, it just won't be top priority. There is still an update coming out soon that will bring systems such as save/load, pausing, and a proper title screen. • Spellsphere's beta - 10 May 2024

  Hello everyone! The Beta for Spellsphere has a much bigger scope than I could've imagined, so I've opted for a segmented release, with the beta update slowly coming out over the span of 5 smaller updates. The release date for each update is currently unknown, but more details will come as each gets closer. System Update The first update will include better UI, menus, and a fully functional settings menu, as well as a proper save/load system. Area update The second update will refine the enemies and bosses of the already existing areas, and will add two new areas with their own enemies, mechanics, and boss: The Sewers and The Royal Gardens. Crystal update The third update will add crystals, a new way to level orbs mid-run, allowing for more run variety and builds. Shop update The fourth update will refine the shop areas, and include more items, boosting and adding to the characters moves…

• Spellsphere v0.2 - 22 December 2023

  Hi all, this is not the beta, but one last quick bug fix before the beta. Fixes Optimization Clutter and unnecessary objects have been removed to provide a smoother gameplay experience. A big cause of lag, which was that afterimages would not be removed after going invisible, has been fixed. Visuals Some shading issues that will take longer to fix are still present, but bugs such as props appearing on roofs in the village have been cleared. New feature There is a new feature; critical hits. Once every 2 seconds, you have a rare chance to get a critical strike, which creates a large circle around the hit enemy, also hitting nearby enemies. In the future, there are planned ways to increase the chance of critical strikes and the radius of the circle created by a successful critical hit.

• Spellsphere Alpha v0.1.9 is here! - 17 December 2023

  Hello all! The new update for Spellsphere is here, bringing a lot of new features to the game. This is the last update before the Beta update, which will include a lot of new features. (More information on that below) New Features Orbs There are two new orbs included in this patch, the tunnel orb and the reverse orb. Tunnel Orb The tunnel orb acts as a normal orb, but it digs through walls upon contact, not returning. While it's inside a wall, its movement speed and gravity are halved, though they are returned to normal upon exiting the wall. This orb can be reclaimed either after it goes out of bounds, or if the player clicks. It will be instantly returned. This can be useful as you can hit enemies through walls with it if used well. Reverse Orb The reverse orb acts as a normal orb, but upon contacting anything, its movement direction will completely reverse, and it will go the way it…

  Hi all, the new update for Spellsphere is out! Bug Fixes Clipping into walls with speedshift is fixed. Village loading screen not properly showing up is fixed. Balance Changes Number of bats spawned slightly increased Sorcerer first encounter health reduced Gravedigger's fight now spawns enemies based on the Gravedigger's attack, adding to difficulty and making the fight chaotic. Additions Arrow Bats Arrow bats are a variant of the regular bats that have a 33% chance of spawning instead of the regular bats. They look like normal bats, but they are redder in color, have longer ears, and have arrow-shaped teeth, hence the name. They approach the player the same as regular bats, and upon getting within a certain distance, will dive at the player until either a certain amount of time passes, or until hitting an object. They have 1 hp and will die upon contact with an orb, a damaging ability…

• Spellsphere v0.1.5 - Bug fixes and more - 19 October 2023

  Hi all! In this patch, some bugs were fixed, some things were balanced, and a new ability was added. The new ability is Speedshift, which allows you to change your momentum direction in 8 directions. Right now, the game still has all 10 orbs and 5 abilities unlocked and randomized, as the systems for them aren't finished yet. There are also no saves still. The next patch will include any more bug fixes/balance changes, a working save system, and maybe a new orb or ability. See you then!
