- Achievements Are Live - 6 October 2026
Achievements Fifteen achievements are now in the game, tracking your career from your first steps in the gym through your first knockout to a tournament title. They unlock on Steam as you earn them, and you can check your progress on every one — locked and unlocked — from the Achievements tab in the pause menu. Fixes - Fixed an error that could break the in-game store when item definitions hadn't finished loading - Tournament walkovers now display the notice and place you in your corner correctly when an opponent doesn't show - Fixed whiteboard buttons disappearing until you walked right up to the bag switcher - Fixed the calorie tracker shrinking your listed weight when switching to metric - Removed four decorative rings that had broken references
- Multiplayer & Crossplay Now Live! - 3 September 2026
The ring opens on Steam. Multiplayer is live on Steam PCVR for the first time — lobbies, open sessions, and full bouts against real opponents. Better still, you're not fighting alone in a new gym. Crossplay is on from day one, so Steam fighters step through the ropes against the entire Meta Quest community. Same lobbies, same sessions, same ring. Browse the new Open Sessions directory to see who's throwing hands right now and drop straight in. Valve Index support is dialled in with native bindings and per-hardware glove alignment, the Steam store is open for cosmetics. Rounding out the card: a handful of minor bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements throughout.

It's about time for another update! The biggest thing we bring to you is a new minigame called 'Mitt Invaders.' It is accessible via the arcade cabinet in the Engine Room gym. - Small Update (4/10/24): USA Boxing Gym Mural - 10 April 2024
This update is to show off a mural done by the artist Gabe Gault depicting a qualified Olympian boxer, Morelle McCane. On either side of the mural, you can see the artist's bio as well as a list of boxers from the US that have qualified for the Olympics. (This mural is only in the USA Boxing Gym.) To accomodate this mural, the leaderboards, gym selection whiteboard, and bout whiteboard have been moved. The bout whiteboard is more to the right of where it was before and the leaderboard and gym selection whiteboards are on the wall to the right of the mural (the wall with the garage doors).
- Update 4/4/24: Sparring Mode - 4 April 2024
Another month, another update is finally here- and we're happy to tell you that one of our more requested features, sparring mode, is now in the game! In this mode, you can fight the AI boxer without worrying about being knocked down, so you can work on your boxing technique. (Damage indicators still exist in this mode, to tell you when you might need to work on defending!) To turn on sparring mode, simply navigate to the custom bout settings on the bout selection whiteboard and continue until you see the 'Sparring Mode' toggle. Things have been pretty quiet here at Engine Room VR lately, so this patch does not have any major changes. It does contain a few minor bug fixes (such as fixing left-handed mode in Fists of Fury) and a few polishes (such as moving the gym selection UI onto a whiteboard). Here is a list of things that changed: Fists of Fury can now be played in any of the fight venues that currently exist Blocks have been added to Fists of Fury- play the tutorial to practice! A custom speed slider has been added- bump up the speed for a challenge or slow it down to take it easy! Option to turn off burnout rounds has been added etc... It's been a while since we've had a major update, but the wait is over! New Gen 2 AI! We have been hard at work on this for a long while and we are super excited to roll it out! We are also happy to hear comments from our players- if you have any feedback on our Gen 2 AI, feel free to mention it in our Discord server: https://discord.gg/t8NsuFfWSm Boxers will now show visible damage the more they are punched! This also comes with a new setting to toggle injury effects on/off in the pause menu (under the Game section).* When you are at extremely low health, your environment will turn gray to warn you. In addition, to keep our players informed, we would like to share that in a future build, we will begin using Unity Analytics within the project. The data we will collect is purely to see where our users are spending their time in the game and to make improvements based on that. - Update 11/20: Customizable AI, New Boxers, and more! - 20 November 2023
With this build, we have a few new features that we're excited to roll out! Customizable AI is in the game! Some of the features you can customize include damage, health, block chance, and more. More customizability will be added in the future. Two new boxers, Miguel and Cassie, have been added to the roster! A new venue, the Street venue, has been added! We have replaced the gym bout UI with an interactable whiteboard- and more will come in the future! We are celebrating Thanksgiving by adding some holiday cheer to Fists of Fury! To see these additions, go into the pause menu and select 'Enable Holiday Assets' underneath the Game settings. Commentary is off by default now Plus some bug fixes... Enjoy!

It's almost time for the spookiest day of the year, and we here at Golden Gloves VR are celebrating it as well! We've released an update full of new content, just in time for Halloween! Changes include: We now have a setting to enable holiday assets! This means that during holidays (Halloween, Christmas, etc), if the setting is on, you may see holiday-themed textures, models, etc. This setting can be found under the 'Game' section of the pause menu. Halloween assets are now in the game! These will be visible from Oct. 20th-Nov. 1st (if 'enable holiday assets' is switched on). Some things to look out for include mask-wearing boxers and special objects in the Fists of Fury minigame. Today, we're bringing you an update for the Fists of Fury minigame! Here's what we changed: A tutorial to show you how to play the game has been added. It can be turned on and off with a toggle on the control panel for the game "R" and "L" characters on the mitts so that players can learn which hands they need to punch with. Difficulty slider with options for Novice, Open, Pro, and Endless modes! The first version of the minigame was the Novice setting! Streaks! The higher your streak gets the more points you'll get per punch! Streaks can be lost by missing a mitt or taking damage. We will also save your highest streak score now too. The high score that is saved is the highest out of all of the modes now. Leaderboard integration for high score and highest streak score!
