• March of the Eagles security update May 4th - 4 May 2020

  Hi! After discovering a minor potential securty problem we decided to patch the game to correct it. Patch notes: - Fixed additional Lua vulnerabilities This should not change anything noticeable for you in your game. But there is the small possibility that mods you are using may be utilizing the security flaw in a non-malicious way and may therefore stop working with this patch. If that's the case, you can revert your game version by right clicking the game in Steam -> properties -> BETAS and select the "1.02-no_security_fix..." version. Please note that you do that on your own risk! That version does contain a known security flaw! Enjoy!

• March of the Eagles Security Update - 17 February 2020

  Greetings! To resolve a security issue tied to the way LUA libraries were loaded for mods we released a minor update. This update will not change your version number or cheksum, and save files should be unaffected. The update has already been applied through Steam. To prevent IO or system/OS access in Lua (to prevent mods abusing it), we want to disable the `luaopen_io` and `luaopen_os` functions in the LUA library/dll. These are updated LUA libraries with that functionality disabled. This does not change behavior of the base game, or impact the multiplayer checksum. Some mods might use these libraries for benign purposes, but unfortunately they will not function after this fix.

  Paradox's March of the Eagles was released this week on PC, and if you've been at all swayed by my love of Crusader Kings II , the video above may have you thinking "wonderful, this is like that, only with muskets". Be warned, then, that this isn't the case. I've been playing the game since last year (I was part of the beta), and it's an interesting thing. It's basically an enormous board game. Risk with more pieces and more numbers. There's no real politics and no marriage or intrigue to speak of. Just loads of men in fancy uniforms being pushed around a map. To their deaths. The whole thing's a little dry, lacking in either the character of Crusader Kings or the depth of, say, Hearts of Iron , another Paradox game that's all about warfare. But it's (relatively) more accessible than the latter, and you've got much more control over your forces than the former, so it does have that goin…
