• The future of bugTDX - 19 July 2023

  I can say definitively that there will be no content updates for bugTDX, only bug fixing, balancing, and minor QoL improvements. bugTDX was always planned to be a small game so I could release it before/during the first uni semester. I'm really proud of this little game and where it's ended up. It's far from perfect, but it's made entirely by me (bar the awesome sountrack by @creeper4207) and so I excuse myself for the terrible art and questionable resolution decisions. With this gamedev knowledge, I want to challenge myself to make a better game in six months. This means, despite the end of content updates for bugTDX, I'm now going to be taking all criticisms of the game truly on board and addressing them for the next game! As well as this, I'm going to take everyone's tower suggestions and shape them into new potential builds and stuff for the sequel - planning to do something awesome…

If you have any more, put them in the discord and I'll add them to my next game! Unfortunately, bugTDX doesn't have a great way to add lots of towers without overfilling the pool, but I have plans for my next game to have lots and lots of towers unlockable through metaprogression, so I'll use all your suggestions there!   fixed crash of targeting enemies when there are none fixed a crash on leveling up a tower past max somehow added damage counters (click on the tower) made freeze a little more obvious changed sell tower button to show cancel sell during remove elite hp 4x -> 8x added prompt to change the UI before playing updated translations made sell a little more logical as to when the 'sell' function was activated - shouldn't change much for the user experience shotgun lvl 1: 1dmg -> 1.5dmg lvl 2: 1.6dmg -> 2.5dmg

• We broke even! - 16 July 2023

  It takes a bit of money for an indie dev to put their game up on Steam, and due to the absolutely phenomenal support of the YouTube roguelike community, we've broken even on that cost. A few weeks ago I wrote a 'post-mortem' going over the finances of the game and the things I learnt from making it. A lot of the stuff from that still remains true, and for any aspiring developers I recommend giving it a read because it's pretty interesting analytics. Feel free to check it out on GitHub! So thanks again for everyone for your support and as a thank you to everyone who's playing it, if you've read this and you have an idea for a tower that you'd like to be in the game, I'll add it into the game at difficulty level 4! Make it as over-powered or absurd as you like, and I'll check back here in a few days to see if there's any responses! Thanks guys :)
