• Planet #2 Sneak Peek: hut on stilts - 5 September 2025

  Greetings, clay adventurers! Today we want to share the modelling/sculpting process of an alien hut and a sneak peek at our second planet (WIP). It’s still early days, but hopefully you’ll catch some of the vibes we’re aiming for on this new world.

• Claymation Impact Effects - 30 August 2025

  Instead of the traditional particle system approach, we’re building our impact effects like stop-motion animations. It may seem like a small detail, but we think it makes every strike feel more physical and tactile. Here’s how it works:We start with 2D frame-by-frame doodles of the effect to nail the motion and timing.Each of those frames is then modelled in Blender as a 3D mesh.In Unity, when you land a hit, the game pulls from a pool of custom flipbook components that cycle through those meshes one after another.We’re happy with the results and plan to use this technique for most of the VFX in the game going forward.

• New Ability Showcase – Area Targeting & Explosive Impact - 16 August 2025

  This week, we’ve begun expanding our abilities toolkit, including explosive projectiles and backpack animations.One of the highlights is a new mid-range ability that lets players target a specific area and fire an explosive projectile. Upon impact, the projectile detonates, dealing area-of-effect damage. I am sure you will have fun exploding enemies from afar or not.

• Master the timing of your weapon - 9 August 2025

  When you equip a weapon, you’ll now gain access to a new ability that’s tied to a quick-time challenge. A timing bar will appear next to your character, and if you press the ability button again within the highlighted window, you’ll flow into the next stage of your combo. Each weapon has its own unique combo chain, so a hammer might lead from a heavy opening swing into a crushing follow-up, while a sword could flow into a rapid flurry. The final hit in a combo is especially potent — delivering not just more damage, but also potentially a unique special effect, like inflicting a status ailment or knocking enemies off their feet.Timing your inputs well won’t just look and feel great, but also will be the key to unlocking your weapon’s true potential.

• Clayverse Update – New Ship Repairs & Upgrades! - 1 August 2025

  Hey everyone! It’s been a little while since our last update, but we’ve been busy working on some cool new stuff for the game, and we’re excited to share it with you.When you first start your journey, the spaceship is going to be in rough conditions. You’ll now need to use some of the clay you collect during your missions to repair and upgrade the ship. This will open up many new gameplay possibilities, like:Crafting: Craft powerful gear to help you survive tougher situations.Customisation: Personalise your appearance.Talent Trees: Unlock new skills and abilities as you level up.New Locations: As you progress, you’ll get to explore farther planets.And this is just the start – we’ve got a lot more ideas in the works to keep expanding and improving this feature going forward.
