  • Progress Report & Demo News - October 2025 - 14 October 2025

Hey everyone, Linx here! Things have been progressing well, and on top of Gamescom Asia 2025 being on the 17th of this very month (Which if you live in or are flying down to Bangkok, Thailand, you should totally check it out - we are at booth 46!!!) Without further ado, let's review the changes for the game up until and in the month of October, 2025.Harpy 'Culture' Exposed!Fig 1.0: An illustration of multiple harpy sub-species. Did you know? Not all harpies are made the same. Our expert sociologists have studied the structure of harpy society, and have noticed vast differences in wealth, status and even employment rate between the several harpy sub-species. For example, Pigeon Harpies tend to do minimum-wage manual labor as couriers and delivery birds. Despite making up a significant amount of the population, there exists strict laws governing against what is viewed as sympathy to these…

  • Gamescom Asia and Demo Release!! - 24 August 2025

Gamescom Asia 2025!Short announcement today, but nonetheless, packed with details! Clouds of Eternity (that's us!) will be showcasing Slime Squadron: Harpy Raiders at the inaugural Gamescom Asia 2025 trade show! That'll be held in Bangkok, Thailand from 16 to 19 October, 2025. So spare some time if you will and come down (or up) to the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center to try out the latest edition of Slime Squadron and meet really cool people (that's us too!) The Day of the DemoMeanwhile, the team has been working hard to get cool stuff to a computer near you. In light of our attendance at the trade show, we will also be releasing Slime Squadron's first formal Steam demo at around early October. After a long wait and a foil on itch, we are quite confident in being able to create something that is of quality enough to be showcased on this platform. The exact date is not confirmed…

  • An Update - June 2025 - 17 June 2025

I'm excited to share about the progress of Slime Squadron: Harpy Raiders, having been almost exactly two years since the last update post here! To say that we've come a long way is to make a gross understatement. Let's review everything! A New NamePreviously, Slime Squadron: Harpy Raiders was known just as Harpy Raiders.Throughout the years, as I have pitched the game to many, one question stood out: Why Harpy Raiders, if you play as a slime? And I would always answer about how the primary enemy in the games are harpies and you're out there trying to raid them. Of course, the answer never really stuck for me on a personal basis, so amongst other things and after some advice, I've decided to rename the game to: This way, there can absolutely be no ambiguity as to who you are, while also tying it back to the old title so that our good friend the search engine can do its pinky-mandated dut…

  • Life and Death in the Slime Army - 24 June 2023

As detailed in the previous post, the Slime Army is a vast machine consisting of billions of slimes, conscripted from birth to serve when duty calls. Each slime serves in their own way, either raising the faction's GDP through trade, labor and innovation, or more commonly, as soldiers on the front lines, wherever that is. Today, I want to cover the death of the slime. Slimes do not die of old age, although they are undoubtebly fragile creatures. Though individually capable of great feats, a vast majority never rise to enough prominence to warrant such extravagant things like healthcare and a proper diet. The common slime is expendable, and all good commanders know that. This fact of life is reflected in the game as well. Though far from a roguelike, Harpy Raiders features a 'permanent death' system in which the slime you control when killed is gone forever. In their stead, you will be a…

  • The Art of (Slime) War - 3 June 2023

A Slime soldier is loyal, loyal unto death. Hello again, it's me, Linx145! Apologies for the lack of update last week, as the team and I have been hard at work getting the demo ready. Today, I wanted to go through the principles of combat... as a Slime. Not many know this, but Slimes are completely capable of using weaponry like swords, guns and more! To reflect the Slimes' innate adaptability, you will be able to use a wide variety of weapons in Harpy Raiders, from swords, spears and hammers to twinblades and rifles. To spice up things in Harpy Raiders, I wanted to focus combat around several pillars. The first is multi-directionality - with many action platformers, you may strike in four cardinal directions, or sometimes maybe eight. But for Harpy Raiders, I wanted a full 360 degree freedom of attack. This would be in line with the game's many flying enemies, which may attack you from…

  • Demo Progress + The Slime Army! - 20 May 2023

A word from Nubuky This is Missioner Nubuky speaking. I wish to tell you a story. A long time ago, there lived a race of gelatinous creatures: The slimes, as they came to be known. They were weak, susceptible creatures whose lives were valued by absolutely no one. In fact, most humans cared more if they were dead. A dead Slime was one less monster in the wild, harassing travelers and getting things all slimy. Moreover, a Slime's gel is highly flammable: And as such, it was custom for those adventuring through the wild to slay a few slimes in order to use their corpse as fuel. For hundreds of years, the Slime kingdom was to be colonized and divided by humanity. When the royal line finally ended after decades of stagnant rule, the slimes were left even more vulnerable. Hungry and in need of a new leader. From out of the wilderness, salvation came. A pink slime who called herself Pinky, wh…

  • How It's Made: Somnium Engine - 13 May 2023

Pictured: An interface born out of an overwhelming spite for a certain other engine, also dear ImGui :flushed: ON today's episode of 'How it's made,' we take a look inside the strange and arcane machinery of the Harpy Raiders game engine. Content warning: Alot of technical information coming up, this one's for you, programmers! The Why But Linx, you may ask. Why do you need to make a game engine? Why not use Godot or Unity for this silly pixel art 2d platformer game?? In truth, I did use other engines. In particular, Unity, as that was what my school had been teaching us. Though from day one, using it to build anything large was out of the question due to the constant crashing and BSOD'ing I experienced. I also did not like the idea of relying on proprietary technology from a corporation I did not necessarily vibe with. Normally, this would make Godot a much preferred choice, but I've n…

  • An introduction - 6 May 2023

Pictured: The ultimate lifeform A long time ago, there was a boy named Linx145. He had a dream: To create one of the games of all time. And so, he got to work. At first, he fumbled with ideas. He had the idea of a game set high in the sky, but also one where you would take control of a slime. Combining them, the game known as Harpy Raiders was born. And now at age 18, I am entering the final year of my pre-university polytechnic education. I am now more confidant than ever in pushing ahead with my childhood dream and bringing it to life, having studied game programming for the past 2 years but also honing my pixel art skills on the side. My main inspiration for the game was a story I wrote when I was 9, titled The Legend of Pinky. It was fanfic of the game that would greatly inspire Harpy Raiders, and detailed the rising of the slimes against their human oppressors after the various sli…
