  • January 15 Update - 15 January 2025

Hello! I am still trying to balance out the late game but have made lots of improvements in the meantime that I wish to provide in this update. Quality of Life UI Implemented button for automatic work slot reassignment, automatically reassigns units with the best skills paired to their best job, starting with mineral skills, agricultural skills then to buildings that skills have no effect (Locked work slots will not be affected by pressing automatic sort). Implemented search function for production options Implemented toggle for showing all building status in bars floating above them. Updated battle panel to show more info on top of units (toggle). Updated overworld resource icons to be more visible. Added toggle for overworld icons. • August 22 Hotfix - 23 August 2024

Fixed errors that would occur when a building had a building entrance that was not possible to pathfind to. This would cause major lag and make the building unavailable to be destroyed. This was not in the previous version but I did not take this into account when trying to improve pathfinding and just bumped into it. I will continue to hotfix any game breaking bugs I come across as I test.

  • August Major Update - 19 August 2024

Hello! I have been working on this update for more than half a year and there's a lot new with the game! Below is a general changelog with basic overview for new and updated features. Overworld Overworld is now randomly generated at the start of the game Variety of capturable resources Upgrades to resource generation Includes enemy group spawners 15 enemy types in 21 possible group arrangements Enemy groups will wander the over world to different connected nodes in the same sector. Enemies have a higher chance of approaching a player unit than going to a random connected node. Added node defenses The player may build node defenses to gain a bonus to defense if they are attacked at that node Added victory condition: capture the tower on the overworld. May be accomplished by moving an army to capture the node Fight System Upon colliding with each other a fight will be generated and will p…

  • April Update on Current Progress - 25 April 2024

Hello! It has been a long time since I gave any updates so i would like to just post a little about my current progress. A while ago, I completed the general design for the Overworld and am currently working on updating other components to allow players to progress on it and subsequentially beat the game by capturing the tower at the end. Below is a post of what the Overworld used to look like: This was static and how it looked in every new game. In comparison these are examples of the one I am currently working with: Zoomed out: which is now randomly generated at the start of every game with a few consistent parameters applied. Combat has also been updated and given a GUI that the player can see, though it is still in a rough state. A lot of progress had to be made in other parts of the game as well to make the Overworld useful. The version I am working on has around 90 items and 45 bu…

  • Early Access Release and Future Plans - 16 September 2023

Hello! Thank you for your interest in Frontera! As of now the game has been released in Early Access and I would like to address plans leading up to a full release as well as plans for the next patch. For the long term - the plan is to release a update every month that contains at least one new feature or building material as a priority, then updating sprite looks, and smaller changes to existing features. Occasionally the new feature will be replaced by several improvements to already implemented features. If I miss any major bugs I will try to patch them in the interim but any minor bugs will probably just be included in the content patch. For the next patch I am planning on releasing the following: New Material - Stone - Method to gather and at least two ways to use will be implemented Player Logistics Control UI - A way for the player to view and modify logistics orders Currently an…
