Short description
A combat-free metroidvania with puzzles, stealth and genetically modified kittens. Help a cat mom rescue her abducted children by doing typical, not-so-typical and definitely atypical cat things: run walls up and down, turn to liquid and rearrange parts of the alien ship like pieces of a puzzle.
About this game
A Simple Expurriment is a exploration-based platformer where stealth and puzzle solving are key elements. Progress is made both by the acquisition of new abilities and by direct manipulation of parts of the map, and a critical choice on the game’s second half will lead to one of two possible outcomes. What happens when a cat family ends up in an alien spaceship that works as a giant puzzle? Here you’ll find no enemies to defeat, but plenty of dangers to avoid with agility and stealth - easy thing for cats, especially the three kittens who received genetic upgrades and got superfeline abilities. And when not even those mutations can help, you can always count on a human brain to do what sharp claws can’t: find your way by combining parts of the ship, bring all the cats together… and them things will start to get weird. The alien who abducted the cats wants to understand how such fur balls can make humans so docile and, in the future, use this information in an eventual… expansion towards Earth. Perhaps even get a promotion and stop cleaning toilets, who knows? The cat mom, on the other hand, just want to get her children back and go home. Cats don’t have big ambitions… or do they? Use the kittens’ genetic upgrades to jump higher, turn to liquid, and other typical (or not so typical) cat things. Use the ship’s transport system to move between the four main areas and manipulate their sectors to open new ways. Make a crucial choice that will take the game to one of two possible conclusions. Each path has different obstacles and a final challenge. Both are chaotic. After getting to one of the endings, it’s possible to return directly to the decision point and follow the other route. The developer takes full responsibility for any 6-fingered paws eventually found in this game.
