So, sit back and enjoy part 3 of the more unusual beings you can encounter in Bylina. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2461440/BylinaMilyuta the Mutant Milyuta the Mutant is a transformed version of the bandit leader Big-Head Milyuta. - The Bylina Compendium: Part 2 - 9 April 2026
The world of Bylina is not only shaped by those who pass through it, but by those bound to it. Guardians, beasts, and broken things inhabit its forests, ruins, and dark, long-forgotten places. Some protect what remains, others act on instinct alone, and some are simply the result of forces that have twisted them into something else entirely. Each of them reflects a different side of the world, from preservation to decay. So, sit back and enjoy part 2 of the more unusual beings you can encounter in Bylina. Grimwood Grimwood is an ancient forest creature that looks like a tree-like monster and acts as the guardian of an old cave in the Village of House Spirits. Massive, slow, and imposing, it moves as if the forest itself has come alive. It does not speak, but communicates through low, threatening growls that every living creature instinctively understands. Despite its appearance, Grimwoo…

- The Bylina Compendium: Part 1 - 7 April 2026
The world of Bylina is not only shaped by heroes, bandits, and ancient rulers, but by the strange beings that exist alongside them. Spirits, guardians, and creatures of unknown origin roam the land, each tied to its own place, purpose, or story. Some live quietly, either alone or with humanity, others disrupt everything around them, but all of them leave a mark on the world. Here are some of the more unusual beings you can encounter in Bylina. Kuzya Kuzya is a domovoi, a household spirit and quiet guardian of the home. He appears as a small, bearded old man, kind, slightly naive, and endlessly talkative. He has a habit of calling everyone “Kuzya,” firmly believing that anyone he meets must surely share his name. He loves warmth, order, and simple comforts, and speaks with a sincerity that makes him both endearing and just a little strange, especially in the world of Bylina. Despite his…
- Kestrel, Not Chosen, Just Willing - 6 April 2026
Heroes in fairy tales are usually pointed out early on, someone points at them, someone names them, or something simply waits for them to grow up. In Bylina, nothing was waiting for Kestrel. The world did not stop for him, and it would have gone on just fine without him. He is someone who was simply born into a difficult place, trying to live honestly, and discovering that doing so is often harder than having a grand mission. Kestrel wants something simple: to become a real bogatyr, like his father was. The problem is that bogatyrs aren’t trained, they’re born, and as far as anyone can tell, he has not inherited the strength that made his family a legend. He’s kind, straightforward, and a little naïve. By no means is he weak; he is just painfully human in a world that doesn’t reward that very often. What defines him isn’t power, but his stubbornness and refusal to give in. His favorite…
- Bylina, A Fairy Tale That Stopped Trying to be Serious! - 31 March 2026
So you’ve returned, then, let us tell you more of Bylina! Most fantasy stories ask you to learn their rules before they let you in. Bylina does the opposite, it assumes the world - and its inhabitants already know how it works and expects those that (for some reason) do not, so just catch up on their own. For example, in the Land of Towns, enormous giants are known to sometimes fall from the sky and bury villages beneath them, talking fungi form networks and argue about riddles, house spirits quietly decide whether your home will prosper or rot, and to top it all off, none of this is framed as shocking; the world simply works like this. As for the characters, they react the way people do in fairy tales: with resignation, superstition, or a shrug, not with disbelief. The Shroomie is a fun example; you encounter it, but as for what exactly it is, or why it is, one just has to shrug one's…
