- Playtest Patch Notes (0.0.1.2103.1.2552) - 11 July 2026
Salutations, Colonisers! The new patch is ready for playtesters. Servers are reset and progress is wiped after fixing major issues and introducing some new features. Please check it out:Upgraded Oath systemWe've mentioned before how we introduced the Objective (Oath) system that will give you options to claim and complete quests based on your playstyle. We've reworked it and expanded it with:- New Oath Board model (Now called Altar of Guidance)- Refactoring the system for improved stability and future expansion- Added different categories of Oaths to accommodate different play styles.- Added cancellation condition for Oaths. Abandoning the Oath will give you half of the resources you invested for triggering it. The same logic is applied to failing the oath. Here is the current types of available Oaths: Protection Oaths (focused on protection, endurance and stability)Kinship Oaths (focuse…
- New Map - 12 June 2026
Salutations, colonisers! If you've played Coloniser, you've probably explored a map that looks like this:This is Summit of Spears, a massive map that supports up to 30 players. It's large, sprawling, and has served us well throughout development. But after spending enough time on it, it can start to feel a little familiar. If you've been following our development blogs, you probably know that we're working on a map editor. To make that possible, we're first building the underlying rules and systems that will eventually power it. It's been a process of experimentation, iteration, and learning. When designing maps, we have to consider a lot of factors: elevation, water placement, player spawns, resource distribution, NPC locations, and much more.Using the tools and knowledge we've gained so far, we've created a new map: River CrossingRiver Crossing is a smaller-scale map designed for up to 1…
- Oath System - 5 June 2026
Salutations, colonisers!Let's talk about objectives. We've recently introduced Tenets and Oaths to the game, and playtesters have already started experimenting with them.Tenets act as guided objectives that help introduce players to the game's core mechanics and systems.Oaths provide smaller goals that encourage activities beyond simply attacking other players. You might be tasked with destroying raider camps, recruiting a certain number of units, or defeating specific enemies. Complete an Oath and you'll receive a reward, with a new one becoming available the following day.The system was... fine. But we felt it could be much better.Every player has a different playstyle and preferred pace of progression. With additional tribes currently in development, those differences will only become more pronounced. That's why we're already changing how the Oaths work. They will be available in the n…

- Defense Fortification - 24 April 2026
Salutations, Colonisers! Are you enjoying the latest version of the game available through the public demo? It has changed significantly since the last release. The previous version was in a good state, but it showed some issues during long-running playthroughs. You can see this in a 7-day run by one of our team members:Simply put, being offline, especially when playing with certain types of players, can result in your colony being destroyed quickly. Being online is a huge advantage, and we don’t want the game to turn into a “wait until someone logs off and then attack” experience. We’ll talk more about how we plan to address this, but for now, we want to reduce the anxiety of being offline. That’s why we’re introducing a new feature: garrisoning (name still work in progress). Garrisoning allows units to occupy defensive buildings, increasing their effectiveness in defense and adding mor…
- Patch Notes (0.0.1.1582.1.1954) - 23 April 2026
Salutations, Colonisers! We had to do servers reset to fix the issue where some players experienced major lag. In addition to that, here are other things we did:Balance changesIf you've just joined us recently, units and buildings are now cheaper throughout, but tech costs are the same as before. The only changes that aren't purely numbers being up or down is that Stockades don't require Valor so you can get them very early, and Bowman require ore now.,If you've been playing the game during the PvP fest - techs are a lot more expensive. Also, we've fixed the horse animation. In case you missed it, be sure to check the previous log as it talks about a bunch of new features and bug fixes we did. We’ve received some great insights so far and will be using them to shape the next demo. And join our Discord server for the additional feedback, opportunity to talk other players, and a chance to t…

Let’s push the capacity of players and persistence! Salutations, Colonisers! Servers are reset and progress is wiped after fixing a major issue some of you reported, where progress could be lost after returning to the Main Menu or forfeiting a game. In addition to that, here are other things we did: Quality of Life Improvements:You will now be getting notification for High Table happenings ( like when someone tries to ally with you).Ranged units attack range has been readjusted - now those units will target nearest point of the building and not the center.Selecting unit will now show their attack range instead of line of sight in the UI.Balanced siege weapons and defensive structures.Added Wishlist button in the Main Menu. - Diplomacy Evolution - 15 February 2026
Salutations, Colonisers! If you are playing the Coloniser demo right now, by pressing the V button on your keyboard you will trigger the appearance of the High Table window on your screen. It will show you what type of game mode you are playing, how many people are on the current server and how much accumulated valor they have.It has come a long way since the original leaderboard introduction, but there is still much more to do. Right now the only thing you can do here is announce war (on by default), offer alliance or peace to other players. Peace - This is a formal non-aggression pact. Must be offered and accepted by both players before it takes effect. Right now this means that a player that accepts this state will not attack you if they encounter you, but you will not see their units and buildings under the fog of war. War - Open hostilities. Can be declared unilaterally by either pl…

- Optimizing Endeavors - Part 2 - 1 February 2026
Salutations, Colonisers! In the last dev diary, we talked about teaching Coloniser what information to send to each player and just as importantly, what not to send. But there’s another side to that problem. Before the game can decide who should know something, it first has to answer a much simpler question: What’s actually nearby? RTS games constantly ask questions like:“Which enemies are within attack range?”“What resources are close to this villager?”“Who should this tower shoot at?”Without any optimization, the only way to answer those questions is by checking every entity against every other entity. With large matches, that quickly turns into tens of thousands of distance checks every tick, even when most of those entities are nowhere near each other. That kind of work adds up fast - especially once AI, combat, and abilities all start asking the same questions at the same time. To…
- Optimizing Endeavors - Part 1 - 25 January 2026
Salutations, Colonisers!Let’s talk about the issue a lot of you experienced during the demo and playtest sessions. Let's talk optimization and some of the things we are doing! As Coloniser keeps growing into a large-scale multiplayer RTS, we ran into a familiar problem: the game knew too much. Every player was receiving updates about every unit on the map - even units hidden by Fog of War or fighting battles on the other side of the map. That’s fine early on, but once matches get big, it becomes a serious performance bottleneck. Some of the players reported those issues during our demo. Here is how it tended to behave: While the game improved performance-wise since the early days, there is still much to do about it. So instead of trying to push all that data faster, we stopped and asked a simpler question: Why are we sending it at all? That question led us to a system called Interest Man…

- New Demo coming soon! - 25 November 2025
Salutations, Colonisers! We're happy to report that the public demo for the game will go live on Thursday, 27th November, and will remain available for 7 to 10 days, depending on player count, reception, and overall stability. Once the demo ends, we'll lock both public and private servers for a couple of months. This will give us enough time to go through your feedback and implement several meaningful changes we’ve been planning for a while. The last time the demo was public was during Steam 4X Fest, and since then, we’ve improved a lot of things:Fixed numerous backend issues related to server joining and overall stability.Resources now regenerate over time, along with NPCs, making persistent servers actually functional.NPC buildings, camps, and outposts can now be destroyed, rewarding you with resources.New biomes added across the map to create more distinct regions.Defensive banks intr…
- Keepers: Era III - 12 November 2025
Salutations, Colonisers!Last time, we talked about the Keepers’ Era II buildings and the units that come with them. But after some time playing and gathering enough resources, you’ll be able to transition to the final era (for now) - the Era of Dominion. This stage unlocks new units, new buildings, and upgrades for your existing forces. Let’s take a closer look:The Lorekeep is an essential late-game building, offering the ability to research a variety of upgrades. As gameplay speeds up during this phase, the order in which you choose your research can significantly impact your strategy and outcome. The Sanctuary allows you to train support units that heal allies, boost morale, and help turn the tide in prolonged battles. The Cleric and Holy Mason are the key representatives of these support roles. With the Cleric, you finally gain the ability to heal your troops. It takes time to reach th…
