The past few months have seen some major updates and improvements, and the team at Attack Dog Studios wanted to drop an update for the community to follow along with development! While the following is not an all encompassing list, theses were some of the biggest highlights;- Incorporation and implementation of Steam audio for better directional and vertical audio in game. - Addition of more polished in game and menu UI to replace the v.1 placeholders currently in game.- Fixed/reworked several weapon blocking distances for better QOL when moving around.- MAP FIXES! • Devlog Update: Major Lighting Overhaul, Performance Gains, and Next Steps - 28 August 2026

Greetings Operators,First off, a huge thank you to everyone who downloaded our Technical Alpha Demo, ran through the training grounds, and shared detailed feedback over the past couple of months. Seeing the response and crossing over 10,000 wishlists was a massive milestone for our team, and we are incredibly grateful for your continued support. While the team took some well deserved summer downtime to recharge with family, we have also been quietly grinding away behind the scenes to get Method of Entry looking and running at its absolute best. One of the biggest talking points from community feedback was balancing visual fidelity with rock solid competitive performance. To address this, we took a deep dive under the hood and completely overhauled our lighting pipeline. We just released a brand new devlog breaking down the technical journey, explaining why we moved away from baked lighting…

  • New Lighting Solution - 12 July 2026

Good evening operators!Over the past few weeks, the team at Attack Dog Studios has been sifting through all of the feedback you guys gave regarding the initial launch of our technical test demo! We've already implemented and tweaked several things, but the team is very excited to get the communities thoughts regarding one very specific (and fairly monumental) change. Our initial build revolved around Unreal Engines dynamic lighting solution, Lumen. While this solution looks nice and gives a ton of realistic light bounce and fill, it is very computationally heave to say the least. In an effort to try and bring everyone's experience up to what we feel is a must in a competitive shooter, we have overhauled the build to use a different lighting solution that is substantially less heavy and thus, should yield better performance for all systems, although the exact benefits will be unique to yo…

  • Method of Entry passes 10,000 wishlists! - 22 June 2026

Hey everyone, We’ve officially crossed 10,000 wishlists alongside the release of our Technical Alpha Demo. This is a huge milestone for the team. When we started Method of Entry, the goal was simple: build a grounded slow paced 5v5 tactical shooter inspired by the golden age of FPS games. Seeing over 10,000 of you connect with that vision genuinely means a lot to us. A Massive Thank You A big thank you to everyone who has downloaded the demo, spent time in the shooting range, and shared feedback over the past week. We’re reading everything and working through fixes and improvements as quickly as we can. Community Challenges Update A special shout-out to everyone grinding the community challenges. The times on the time trial course have been insane, and it’s been great seeing people break into the locked dev area during the codebreaker challenge. Remember, you’ve got exactly one week lef…

  • Demo Patch Feedback - 22 June 2026

Good evening Operators! Now that we've had a couple days of feedback under our belt the dev team is leaning into implementing some of the suggestions we've gotten. One point in particular that kept coming up was the fish eye lens on the player camera that was making some players feel queasy or disoriented. We will be pushing out a new build shortly that removes that fish eye effect and are curious to see what everyone thinks. This build also contains some other tweaks and bug fixes with more information to be found in patch-notes-and-updates official discord! Thank you guys again for a truly awesome week. We've got a lot more coming soon.Stay tuned! -JOMO

  • Lights Out: Headshots That Remove Information - 6 February 2026

Lights Out is one of the core gameplay features in Method of Entry, and it’s built around a simple idea: How you die has consequences beyond losing a teammate. In Lights Out, headshots and body shots lead to different outcomes. If you’re killed by a body shot, you briefly retain sight and audio as the screen fades. This gives you a narrow window to pass comms to your team. In these final moments, your operator can still hear footsteps, gunshots, and track enemy positioning.A fatal headshot however, cuts everything instantly. No sound. No vision. No callout. That moment doesn’t just remove a player — it removes information entirely. With no comms to rely on, teammates are forced to re-clear that space blind, shifting the round’s momentum and rewarding smart positioning and precision. This feature exists for two reasons:Competitive integrity — information is power in a 5v5 tactical shooterReal…

  • Method of Entry: Starting out 2026 - 4 February 2026

Hello Operators! The team at Attack Dog Studios wanted to touch base as we begin 2026 to keep you up to speed on the work done already and where we'd like to go from here! There has been a lot of pivotal work done in the past several weeks and we're very excited for what this means moving forward. I'll touch on some of the bigger wins below, but be sure to check out the work in progress and updates pages on the Discord for the latest on Method of Entry development.Performance:The first, and most promising progress made recently was some MAJOR improvements in performance across the board. This has been the result of a mixture of lighting optimizations and back end work to try and eek every possible frame out of Method of Entry which, after all, is a competitive shooter where every frame matters. Of course, we also don't want to sacrifice visual fidelity to get those frames, and with the l…

  • Year End Development Update - 22 December 2025

Hello operators! As we reach the end of the year, the team at Attack Dog Studios is wrapping up an extremely productive stretch of development — and getting ready for a bit of well-earned downtime with friends and family, but before we step away for the holiday season, we wanted to share a quick update on what’s been happening behind the scenes: Performance Optimizations Over the past few weeks, we’ve put a major focus on performance improvements across the project. Several systems have been refined and optimized to reduce overhead, improve frame pacing, and create a smoother overall game play experience. These gains are already noticeable in our internal builds, and performance will remain one of our key targets moving into the new year. Weapon Balancing/Custom Sounds We've also implemented the remainder of our initial weapon attachments as well as our initial system for their balancin…

  • Community Update: Optimization, Dedicated Servers, & The Road to Public Testing! - 15 November 2025

Hello Operators! As we close out the year, we have some exciting news and a clear outline of the next steps in development for Method of Entry. Let's dive into the progress! Performance & Lighting Deep Dive Over the last few weeks, our focus has been on deep optimization work across the entire game, specifically around lighting solutions. We aimed to find the perfect balance between performance and visual fidelity—solutions that are both attractive and performant. Testing: We rigorously explored both Lumen (as a global lighting solution) and various iterations of baked lighting. The Winner: Baked Lighting showed extremely promising results, delivering significant performance increases while maintaining high visual fidelity. The Results You'll See: Dramatically smoother framerates. Faster load times. Far more stable gameplay overall. We’re incredibly proud of this progress. For the initi…

Good evening operators! Over the past 12 months, development on Method of Entry has seriously ramped up. Our team has been pushing hard behind the scenes, and we’re finally ready to share a clearer picture of where things are going. The pace of development has never been higher, and with the road map we’re sharing today, you’ll be able to see exactly what we’re building toward in the months ahead. With the road map, we wanted to briefly show where we've been but obviously we also want to shine the most light on where we're going. The core game play loop has been implemented and is working. Now comes the time for the addition of all the "flavor" that will make Method of Entry the tactical experience we're aiming for and ensure that we stand out in the genre. The team has been hard at work with implementations all across the board including our unique sounds effects, animations, game play…

  • Method of Entry - Feature Showcase - 'Lights Out' - 8 April 2025

In this showcase, we focus on the ‘Lights Out’ feature, a newly implemented game mechanic introduced to add uniqueness to the tactical shooter genre. Hitting the enemy with a fatal headshot displays an instant black screen for the player hit with no sounds or vision, which incentivises accurate headshots. Lights out removes the ability to communicate accurately to your teammates, drastically changing the game rounds' dynamic. This feature showcase explains the difference in first-person death animations depending on where the fatal shot hits. All footage is taken from the Pre-Alpha build, which is subject to change.

  • Development Announcement 3/28/25 - 28 March 2025

Hello Operators! The team at Attack Dog Studios wanted to thank everyone for their support so far as well as give some insight into current development on the project! Our dev team continues to work on taking our proof of concept project and migrating/updating it to the newest version of the Unreal Engine. This upgrade brings with it a host of performance improvements and tools that will let us deliver a better looking final product without taking a massive hit to performance. As a competitive game we know that frames matter, and we want to maximize the end users experience while providing the best looking visuals and environments possible. On that note, we successfully held our latest play test on the newest finished map, The Museum. Final tweaks are in the works now but this marks another milestone towards getting the project into the players hands. Damon continues to plug away on the…
