  • 2026: A Letter From Furikyu Island - 2 January 2026

2026: A Letter From Furikyu Island What’s good? I know you haven’t heard from me in a while, but I’ve been busy working on the memoir. I’m finally ready to start showing more of it. I’ll soon be issuing a fresh cut of the demo, and the most important part is the story. I lied about Genyu because I didn’t think people would wanna know what he was really like, but I realize now it’s not a story worth telling if it isn’t honest.I’m gonna be posting my stuff all over the place, so keep an eye out. In the meantime, here’s a sneak preview of some later parts: A work-in-progress of one of Damien’s clubs in Hikariyo. I can’t lie, they had some cool spots, kinda wish I’d had the chance to hang out at one of ‘em instead of blowin’ ‘em up every time. Wenya, one of the great samurai and the greatest of my opponents - and the most interesting of Genyu's old friends. After the governor died, she led…

  • One Last Demo Update - 3 August 2025

Hello friends,I've released one last awesome update for the demo before proceeding with work on the full version of Sick Samurai. This will be the last major update for the demo until we participate in Next Fest in many months from now. Stay tuned for updates on full version progress coming very soon!Update notes below:The Katsuryoku Sake upgrade (reduced attack/dodge cooldowns) has been replaced with the Zenshin Sake upgrade. This upgrade will cause time to slow down when you dodge, making the dodge significantly more powerful and giving you ample time to set up sick plays. The slowmo slowly fades, and will be cancelled instantly when you attack, use an item, or press the dodge button again. The Stun Bomb is now called the Whistle Bomb and is significantly more powerful. It will kill all enemies in a small radius around the blast while stunning remaining enemies that are a bit further a…

Hey everyone,First, a big thank you to everyone who's played and wishlisted the game so far! • THE DEMO IS OUT NOW! - 29 May 2025

I'm excited to announce that Sick Samurai's demo has officially been released! I did everything I could to make this demo as polished, fully-featured, and replayable as possible, and I think everyone is in for a real treat. I hope you all enjoy it! • Ever closer to a demo... - 11 February 2025

Hey everyone, Here's where Sick Samurai's at at the beginning of February. Everything is about getting the demo done and released as soon as possible. I've got about a week of visual polish work left to do, and all that's left after that is the audio - a handful of music tracks and sound fx, the recording of the voice lines, and the final mixing of it all. I expect it'll take me just over a month to get that all done. Finally, we'll do a week or two of private playtesting, and the public release will follow immediately after that - so you can expect to be playing no later than April! In the meantime, we've finished designing all of the enemies and characters for the game's second act. This act features a style inspired by Western and Japanese hip hop cultures, mid 20th-century jazz culture, yakuza and island-wear influences, and a touch of the 1970s. This act also features two samurai b…

  • 2025: Getting closer to a demo release... - 5 January 2025

Hello everyone! As we enter 2025, I'm still aiming for a February or March at the latest release of the public demo for Sick Samurai. Check out our first enemy type for the game's second act: I'll be revealing the remaining enemy and boss designs for this act in the coming weeks. For more info on what's new, you can also watch this week's YouTube vid: Until next time! Solideo

  • Sick Samurai's Development Plans! - 5 November 2024

Hello everyone, I'm Solideo, a solo developer from Montreal, and I wanted to give you a big thank you for all the interest you've shown in my upcoming game, Sick Samurai. In just two weeks of being on Steam, we've already gotten 2000 wishlists! For this project, I'm collaborating with a few people: Artist Amanda Rey (https://amandarey.art/) Animator Maria Rincon (https://mariarinconnav.com/) Sound Designer Lorenzo Morselli (https://lorenzomorselli.webflow.io/) The next step in development is to get a demo out there, and I expect to release that in about 3 months. The game's story is told in 3 acts, and the demo will contain the first half of the first act (4 gameplay levels and a few narrative scenes). I hope to make it as excellent of an experience for you as I can! Outside of that, I will be posting regular updates on the game's development both here and on various other platforms (ht…
