- Patch 1.2.9 - 8 August 2025
Little bug fixes. Little changes. Changed the controller glyphs for Xbox and PlayStation control layouts. Enemies that require multiple button presses to shoot now show LB and RB on Xbox, and L1 and R1 on PlayStation. These used to say L and R for all layouts. Fixed a bug with the options button glyph not showing up properly in the tutorial when selecting languages other than english. Fixed a bug where the mouse cursor would remain on screen even if you were playing with gamepad controls. This was especially annoying on Steam Deck, imo.
- TYPECAST is Steam Deck Verified! - 7 August 2025
Good news! TYPECAST is now Steam Deck verified! You can finally play this game, which has TYPE in the title, which was originally designed to be played with a full keyboard, with full gamepad support and exactly 0 typing! Wow! To celebrate this mild achievement I have discounted the game by 75% for the next week. Please enjoy. Please make several purchases for yourself, your friends, and your enemies.
- Patch 1.2.8 - 30 July 2025
Hello. It has been a while since the last patch. Time flies when you get a new job and a new baby, so forgive me for the delay. Or don't. Just do whatever you feel is right. Here are the changes. Bugs Fixed gamepad display for the tutorial to show the correct options button icon. Fixed bugs with some of the enemies incorrectly displaying keyboard keys instead of gamepad buttons when playing with a gamepad. Fixed bugs with some enemies not getting shot with the correct button press. Balance Changed how the spawn rate difficulty option works. It should be much more noticeable when you change the spawn rate, and the game can generally be made much easier for new players by setting this to slower speeds. Reduced the possible number of keys that could appear over the head of some enemies for both gamepad and keyboard input modes.OtherChanged the Discord link to my new Discord url.
- Lil Patcha - 1.2.7 - 16 December 2024
Hey sorry I was gone so long. Life sucked for a little bit, not that it's an excuse to not update (or even really look at) the game you fine folks have purchased (or considered purchasing (purchase it (now))). Here are some bug fixes. - Fixed Steam leaderboards. These work again. Sorry about that. - Fixed some bugs with text being drawn on top of other text in some option menus. - Fixed some bugs with text not being drawn at all on the leaderboards page. There are still some bugs with localization text that I'm getting ironed out. Stay tuned.
- TYPECAST Localized! - 26 August 2024
TYPECAST has been localized to the following languages, along with the Steam page itself. Spanish (latam) Portuguese (Brazil) German French Simplified Chinese Traditional Chinese Japanese Korean One thing to note is that the glyphs the player has to type while playing are still displayed with the English alphabet.
- Update 1.2.4 - 1 February 2024
Small update. Nothing to write home about, really. You can if you want to though. Not sure your mom will care but tell her I said hi anyway. Added 5x and 6x scaling options in the menu. Fixed bug with UI scaling not matching the game scaling. Added a gamepad focused tutorial if your input method is set to gamepad. Added links to the main menu for my Discord, and shamelessly asking you to leave a review.
- Patch version 1.2.3 - 21 January 2024
Hello. I took some time off for the holidays and then I lost all motivation to do anything then I kept getting sick and my wife got sick and my son was sick and everyone was sick for like two weeks and it sucked. Anyway, here is a little update. Fixes Fixed bug with some enemies having incorrect shoot buttons assigned to them when using gamepad. Fixed goofy menu behaviors when changing screen scale and screen mode. Changes Changed screen scaling method to prevent stretching, and to make TYPECAST more compatible with Steam Deck. Added some checks to see if you're playing on Steam Deck, and if so, default to gamepad input. Added a little hand cursor, awww. Still to come Gamepad specific tutorial. Left handed KB/M options.
- Pad Support! - 3 December 2023
I added pad support. It's pretty fun. Harder and easier in its own way. I THINK that KBM players will still outclass pad players by a lot, but I'm not totally sure. If that is the case I will implement a gamepad only leaderboard. I didn't add a tutorial that covers pad controls, but I will. Until then y'all will figure it out, I'm sure. Or not. Whatever. Added a new control settings menu to the options menu. Added gamepad support. Includes support for Michaelsoft, Sunny, and Pretendo button layouts. Added an option to lock the mouse to the game window. Defaults to off. Fixed audio bug on the Leaderboards and Credits screen. I think I fixed some other stuff, but I took a week off and forgot everything. I don't recognize any of this code.
- Beta Branch Now Available - 23 November 2023
Howdy, I added pad support, and a beta branch that is available to anyone, so you can check it out. It's not totally finished yet, and some things don't work, but I've called that out below. Feedback is greatly appreciated. Additions Added a new control settings menu to the options menu. Added gamepad support. Includes support for Michaelsoft, Sunny, and Pretendo button layouts. Added an option to lock the mouse to the game window. Defaults to off. Stuff That Doesn't Work Right Now Gamepad input doesn't work on the pause menu. Control settings can't be changed from the pause menu. Only the dpad can be used to navigate menus at the moment. Button prompts in menus is still showing PC controls. The tutorial isn't set up to go over gamepad controls. When dying, the orb appears at the mouse position. God knows what else is broken. Stuff That Is Coming Soon Gamepad only leaderboard. I have a…

The soundtrack is out. Its free. Download it. Cherish it. Buy 157,000 copies of TYPECAST for your friends.
- 1.1.6 Hot Fix - 17 November 2023
Fixed a bug with the "Gay Paris" achievement. It was resetting your parry count every run, but now its not. Yay. Started working on gamepad / steam deck support. Nothing is in game but I wanted you all to know.
- Why the HELL can you go behind the UI?? - 15 November 2023
A few people have asked why I allow you to go behind the UI. Sometimes people think its a bug. Most of the time people have a negative response to it, which I always find surprising. Personally I feel that this is a non issue, and is actually pretty cool. I could be convinced otherwise, so let's talk about it. WHY can you go behind the UI? There are a few reasons, all of which come down to game feel. In this game your mouse IS your character, and your movement is extremely precise because of that. So precise, in fact, that you can whip the mouse across the screen and your character will "teleport" to the new mouse position, skipping over enemies, and moving faster than the camera. There are times where you can whip the mouse, and the camera view (which the UI follows) would lag behind. Imagine if you bumped the UI during this movement, and stopped dead. It would feel awful. I know this…
- 1.1.5 Hot Fix - 13 November 2023
Fixed a bug where the game would CRASH if you happened to die while a particular enemy was on screen. So dumb. Fixed a bug where, when looping, one of the newly spawned enemies in the new loop wouldn't be able to be shot. Also so dumb. Fixed a bug where, when pausing, the enemy spawn timers would COMPLETELY RESET. Maybe the dumbest thing. I'm going to bed. Please leave a review if you haven't already, and make it a good one.
- Stealth Hotfix - 11 November 2023
I'm not telling what I did in this patch.
- Oh my God... - 10 November 2023
I broke the music with the last update... I fixed it with this update... Not having QA sucks so bad you guys...
- I added Pause. - 10 November 2023
After getting a few requests I decided to add a pause menu. You may be thinking "what kind of moron would make a game without a pause menu?". I'm that moron, but let me explain. I wanted to avoid situations where players could pause the game, and see all of the letters on screen, and effectively cheat, and I thought the runs would be short enough for most players to not really need a pause function. Turns out I was wrong. But hey, whatever, I've been wrong before and I will be wrong again. My solution is... fine? I don't love it but it gets the job done. When pausing the screen goes black so you can't see the enemies. The dumb part is that to unpause its a two step process. You have to click "unpause" then click your Orb. The clicking of the orb is necessary otherwise you would instantly teleport to wherever your mouse position is, and the chances of you taking damage from that is like…
- Version Update 1.1.1 - 10 November 2023
Fixed bug where you could take damage as soon as the run started. Fixed bug with hovering enemies where their z position would get messed up during slowmo. Fixed bug where Steam screenshots didn't work. Added version number to main menu. Yelled at God for not putting TYPECAST on the New and Trending section of the Steam front page. God remains silent, per usual. Added COLEMAK keyboard layout support.
- Added QWERTZ Support - 8 November 2023
Someone in the Steam forum asked for QWERTZ, which was a great request. I added it. God, I hope it didn't break anything. I need to go to sleep.
- 1.0.5 Hotfix - 8 November 2023
Shout out to everyone reporting bugs. You are all absolute heroes. Making this game without real QA support was tough. Fixed bugs with various achievements. Whoever invented achievements is a jerk. Fixed screenshake toggle not working in the options menu. Fixed an issue where you couldn't loop after killing the final boss in certain circumstances. Fixed a bug where the Power Meter was still being displayed even if you had both slowmo and bombs turned off.
- 1.0.4 Hotfix - 7 November 2023
Fixed a bug where Bomb Rats explosions couldn't kill you. Fixed bugs with various achievements. Fixed bug where gems couldn't reach the player if the player was too close to the edge of the screen. Fixed bug where, when parrying the projectile of a dead enemy, the game would crash.
