  • Checkpoints Update - 12 February 2025

Hello Everyone! In today's update I am adding checkpoints to the Adventure Mode! What does this mean? If you enable checkpoints, once you get to a new section, a button will appear at the start of the level allowing you to get back to that section whenever you want. Passing through a section checkpoint will take your fastest time for that section and save it. Once you hit the button you will be spawned to that section and the time will start playing when ready. You will also notice a new number displayed in the bottom left of your screen. This is for keeping track of how many moves you have made in your current run. This move count will be used for certain achievements when the main game releases! Other Fixes: Fixed a small bug with the locks on the boards displaying when in the incorrect section. Added a prevention for Stockfish bugs where each Stockfish instance was being set with the…

  • New Animations and Performance Update - 24 January 2025

Hi Everyone! Today I have added some animations to the piece movements so that it is easier to see Stockfish's moves. You can adjust the speed of these animations in the Settings -> Gameplay options. I have also added the following optimizations: Faster piece loading Faster board loading Decreased number of player loop calls when falling increasing FPS Fixed a bug in the distance based board loading for increased FPS As always, don't forget to join the discord for the latest! -- Doug

  • Small Bug Fixes - 13 January 2025

Hello everyone! Here are the fixes in today's patch: Attempting to move chess pieces from a section that you are not currently standing in will no long result in a Stockfish error. You can no longer softlock yourself by trying to move pieces in a different section and getting checked. Standing on a square where Stockfish decides to move it's piece will no longer clip you through multiple pieces. It will instead put you at the closest adjacent empty tile. In the Famous Stacks level you can now move pieces on top of yourself as intended. Changing controls in the middle of game play now updates the controls immediately instead of having to restart. Some localization updates have been made to better contextualize the translations.

  • Big Update: Improved Tutorial, New Features, and Bug Fixes! - 6 January 2025

Hello Everyone! Firstly, thank you to every one of you who has taken the time to play the demo and provide feedback—it means a great deal to me and has been very helpful! I read every comment and consider the community's input as much as I can. With that said, let's dive into what’s changing in this update: The Tutorial Based on your feedback, I noticed that the tutorial didn’t explain the movement mechanics well enough, which caused some confusion and frustration. To address this, I’ve added a Movement Tutorial that will pop up before the main tutorial. This new tutorial is designed to better demonstrate the spacing needed for certain jumps and provide more clarity on how jump failures work. If you’ve already mastered the mechanics, you can skip the movement tutorial, and it can also be revisited from within the main tutorial level for additional practice. Separating the movement mecha…

  • Gameplay Update - 6 August 2024

After some feedback and internal review the bounce factor has been removed completely from the players fall mechanic. What does this mean? When the character pawn is falling and hits a flat surface it will no longer bounce off at high velocity. Instead, the pawn will have a significant reduction in ricochet value upon landing (0.44 to 0). The landing will also have a 3% friction increase to slow down any slide that may occur. It is important to note that the pawn can still bounce off the side of chess board pieces and walls! Also, depending on the speed and angle that the pawn is falling at upon impact with the flat surface the pawn will still continue to fall downward but to a lesser extent than before.

  • Small Bug Fixes - 29 July 2024

Player jumps no longer get negated when standing on the very edge of a tile. There was a small bug where, on the top board in the tutorial level. Players movement was getting slowed. This is no longer the case. The highscores lists have been fixed to display scores always, even if you do not have a time on that level. A description has been added to the stacks screen to be more explicit about the rules

  • Demo Update 0.0.2 - 27 July 2024

The last board on the tutorial level had a small bug that would prevent the player from making moves on the board. This has now been fixed.
