- Scrumping Patch - 26 April 2026
Back with more bug fixes! The barber is open for business, you can now dye and style your hair with the finest in Plantagenet era cosmetics. New games will show the Character being born just a year after the conquest, instead of about 18 years earlier, not quite sure how I didn't catch that before. Animals bought at market will no longer be functionally immortal due to being born on a 0 day (1 in 30ish chance before). The game will now actually assign the text to a pregnancy announcement rather than just throwing it away when the event is generated (quite annoyed about this one). Journeys to town will now take the requisite time instead of 3 times faster (oversight from breaking days into 3 parts). Issues with the orchard not growing fruit should now also be fixed but keep an eye on it, the big V2 patch made the house absurdly complicated on the back-end. Probably a few more little bits…
- Stability Fix - 3 November 2025
Hi all, a quick update today to address an issue in V2 with animals that was causing people's games to crash whenever an animal dies. This should now be fixed, so for anyone having an issue where your game was crashing on the turn of a month/year, this update will most likely address that issue. Big thanks to elineaestelle for their help tracking down the issue!
- Bees to Trees - 14 October 2025
A small patch today that addresses some issues people are having with the garden. This update should make production on furniture units visible, cease people building already built furniture and improve things like the Skep and Orchard.
- Stability Update - 27 September 2025
A quick update to address a few issues people have been having around stability towards the start of Spring.
- Under The Yoke V2 - 24 September 2025
The long awaited V2 update is here!Let's launch into the new features:The Scheduling SystemWhen developing the patch for V2 I wanted to include as much feedback as possible, one of the consistent themes I saw was around micro-management. The scheduling system is meant to address a lot of that feedback. Each day is now split into 3 parts which can be filled with jobs, activities and opportunities to socialise. While there will be some micro in changing jobs around as the seasons change, you can both save and load schedules. Any time a job is not able to be fufilled, the character will default back to resting but that scheduled job will remain. You will also see characters moving around the map to their assigned workspace so you can keep an eye on what's going on.I have also done some work on reducing the micro from all the jobs, for instance there is no longer a requirement to 'collect'…

Greeting Villeins! As some of you may have seen hinted at, I've been working on a pretty significant patch for Under The Yoke since the launch of Silk Roads II: Paths of Fortune. While there is still some work to be done on it, I hope to have it in a playable state this month, as such, I think it's time we start showing off some of the new features. Here you'll see some pretty dramatic changes to one of the systems in the game, and an entirely new system along with some long requested features. The more eagle eyed among you may also note some hints to additional new mechanics, and those of you with X-ray vision would be able to see some upgrades to the UI that I've stolen wholesale from Silk Roads II (is it stealing when it's from your own project?).I don't want to spoil it all for you just now so I'll leave you all to discuss. However, I will say, this is REALLY going to shake up the way…

I don't want to spoil too much now, but the planned changes will rework the vast majority of mechanics in the game in some way or another, changing…

Happy Christmas!
- Social Update - 23 August 2024
Hey Ladies and Villeins! Afrer several requests from players, I have implemented a system for repeating social interactions with other characters. This should reduce the need to micro. Next to the confirm button you will now find two buttons and a number inbetween. Using these buttons you can decide how many times you want to repeat the same interaction with this character. If your relationship hits a maximum during this period then your character will pause interacting until you've decided what benefit you want from this new friend. This update should be save game compatible. There are also a few minor changes, including a massive decrease to the resources from slaughtered animals (this was primarily balanced around the previous, weekly meal system.) I hope you enjoy!
- Hotfix - 1 July 2024
Fixed a bug that caused animals to produce goods far quicker than desired.
- Feast Fix - 24 June 2024
Just a quick early morning patch to fix and issue where items of food wouldn't stack regardless of durability during feasts. This should make hosting a feast much easier.
- Quick Patch - 24 May 2024
Just a quick patch to address an issue that was causing animals to produce far more goods than intended.
- Quick Patch - 13 May 2024
Hey everyone, sorry for the delay with this patch, I've been away with poor signal and thus haven't been able to push it. I've been reading feedback and patching whilst away so this update should address a few issues, though I have not documented them all, most notably a bug that would cause the music to loop instead of go to the next track, and another that was allowing players to create jam or pickled vegetables when they only had those items in their inventory.
- Animal Update - 6 May 2024
Bet you didn't expect to hear from me so soon! Just polishing up some bits that didn't get addressed in the last update: Animals will now consistently increase their meat, fat and bone slaughter values each month that they are fed. Animals will generate with a random amount of meat, fat and bone when they are purchased, rather than always being set at near 0. Some UI improvements to the Animal Sheet and a description generates for each item the Animal Produces. Horses will now provide Hides and Fat when slaughtered rather than nothing. The Animal Sheet should stop behaving weirdly in general. Bones can now be burned in the Kiln to produce Lime. Rebalanced Tallow Candles due to the quantity of fat one animal is able to yield. There are a few more upgrades to Animals I'd like to do, I don't love the Sheet as is, the trade is also pretty ugly and not as descriptive as it could be and I'd l…
- The Magna Update - 6 May 2024
Greetings Ladies and Villeins! Today Under The Yoke has received a major update featuring a massive quality of life overhaul as well as some rebalances and some bug fixes. If you're a new Serf joining us from the Steam Farming Fest sale or you're an experienced player who wants to dive back in, this is the update for you! Info Boxes A lot of feedback around the game has been on the difficulty of understanding its mechanics. While that is somewhat intentional, I can see how for some jobs there is simply no clear way to understand what a job will do for you before you've committed resources to it or what purchasing this or that good will do for you. No more! The game now features a detailed description that will popup whenever you hover over any job, item, piece of furniture and some UI elements. The game should be much clearer to new and returning players from now on, but I will continue…
- Animals and Weddings - 30 April 2024
Welcome all new villeins and returning freemen! A little patch here with a pretty big impact, let's get to it: Improvements across the animal sheets, animal sheets should now update more often and more accurately. Animals should no longer stay in the pen after they've been sold. Character Sheets will now hide when selecting a special social interaction such as marriage or improving skills. This is a stop gap solution until Character Sheets follow the z index. I think there are some other improvements in here since it's been a while since I've uploaded a build (dealing with personal issues) so let me know if you run into anything. I'm also aiming to massively expand the descriptions in the game, adding descriptions for jobs, items and menus but that's going to take some time so if it's a while before the next patch, you know what to expect.
- Quick Patch - 22 April 2024
Patch to fix an issue with loading furniture caused by the latest patch. Parents will no longer be pleased when their offspring die. Players can now access the Mill directly from the Cooking menu.
- Patching the patch - 21 April 2024
A quick post patch, patch to fix a couple of issues caused by the update and some other fixes and to announce a new (to me) subreddit! Changed the reddit social link to: https://www.reddit.com/r/undertheyoke/ a fan run subreddit. Go and check it out! Fix for an issue with the villager sheet and animal sheet that would cause them to be clipped by their container, related to the changes made to character sheet to make it not dominate the mouse whenever visible. Fix for an issue related to negative prestige which would cause a player to be unable to continue the hallmote even if they weren't running for office. Other fixes to elections which should make them run a little smoother. Furniture should no longer duplicate after a house upgrade. This should also fix the problem of furniture carrying over across saves. Fixed some code around achievements that was causing them not to fire, if you'…
