- 1 year anniversary - 26 October 2025
Wooooh! Freja has been on Steam for a whole year! ːReeneOKː Freja was our first attempt at something larger, and our first attempt at a full game we worked on together. It has been a difficult but fun journey and we learned a lot along the way. It's crazy to us that a whole year has passed already. We appreciate the feedback, reviews and media coverage of the game. It has been especially interesting to see youtube and twitch videos/streams of Freja and seeing what worked with the game and what could be better next time. We hope another game of ours will come out someday and hope you will stick around until then. ːchocolaː Freja will participate in steam scream as well and we hope to see some more feedback and videos during the event. Thanks for reading!
- V.4, something something update - 16 March 2025
Hey there horror enthusiasts, this is the version 4 notes. We improved some things What's new: - We tried playing Freja with controllers. Turns out it works with controllers, but not perfectly. Navigating menus is a slight inconvenience, for example. But it works fine for the most part. Read more about which controllers it support on the store page Patch notes: - Minor fixes to certain objects, like adding proper collision to an object you could previously walk through and fixing some visual glitches - The flashlight is on when you pick it up in the first night scene now. It felt immersion breaking to pick up a flashlight that's clearly on, and then see it's off when you use it - Fixed an issue with a door having poor soundmixing (being way louder than other sounds if you lowered the in-game volume) - Fixed an object not moving with the rest of the room at the end of the Altered state c…
- Movement Update - 28 October 2024
Several players mentioned sluggish mouse movement in the school scenes. It has now been increased a lot and feels much smoother. You should hopefully not have to adjust it at all, but I did add a sensitivity slider in the pause menu of each school scene just in case. However, there was an issue getting it to properly save, so if you want to lower the sensitivity, then you have to do so in each new scene. This will hopefully not be an issue in the future. I wanted to push this out now as I'd rather have a tiny inconvenience than the game being near unplayable for some. Your feedback is much appreciated and more improvements will hopefully come in the future. Thank you, and stay spooked. ːdefiledskullː
- Upcoming release - 16 September 2024
Hey there horror enthusiasts! Freja is coming out soon! Progress on Freja has moved forward at a steady pace the past weeks and we are finally approaching the finish line! The final adjustments are being made to the final minigame and all the maps are being tested to find and fix bugs. We are looking at a Halloween release for the game sometime in October. We want to thank everyone that played the demo and showed up at the creative coast festival and gave us feedback. It has been a big help for us during development! Stay tuned!
- Progress update and future release - 30 July 2024
Hello horror enthusiasts! Progress update: We are currently working on the last minigames in Freja right now and the ending to the story. Freja has been opted in to a Halloween event so our goal is to release the game in October. At this stage, the game is near completion but needs a lot of fixes for bugs and the final parts to be implemented. How long this will take is uncertain. It will hopefully be all done before Halloween. Worst case scenario, early access. We'd rather just release the game in a finished state right away though if possible. Stay tuned!
- We attended Creative coast festival - 17 May 2024
Hello horror enthusiasts! We attended Creative coast festival, a festival for game developers to show off their creations. Freja could be playtested and a decent amount of people gave it a shot. We appreciate all the feedback we got! Some things were very well done according to the testers, and some minor things should be tweaked. It's easy to go blind in your own game and getting a different perspective is definitely refreshing. We will continue to work on the game usual moving forward, but also see if some of the most common feedback we got can be tweaked and implemented later on. ːcozyjunimogreenː
- May update - 10 May 2024
Hey horror enthusiasts! We are now one week away from participating in a local game festival where we will showcase Freja to visitors and let people playtest it. As such, a big priority lately has been polishing what we already have to make an interesting playslice. The updated playslice might also be used for curators later on depending on how it goes at the festival. One part of the polishing has been improving the minigame "Mazerunner" to better integrate it into the story and make it look more unique with our own character and overall better environment design. In other words, it looks less like a bunch of placeholders and more like an actual minigame. What has been done since last update - Improved Mazerunner - Polished a lot of the levels in the game - Worked on the final levels of the game - Implemented steam achievements What to do moving forward We are hopefully looking at a su…
- April update - 3 April 2024
Hey horror enthusiasts! Hope you had a good easter. Here are the latest news about Freja. What has been done since last update - Worked further with the story and one of the minigames - Designed the final area before the epilogue sequence will begin - Fixed a sound related issue with one of the enemies - Fixed the reported mouse cursor not getting locked on the game window issue - Created more events around the levels - New soundtracks and more soundeffects added One thing we noticed in some of the gameplay videos was the effectiveness of soundeffects playing in the levels, so that is something we are definitely keeping! What to do moving forward Apart from finishing the last bits of the game, we also need to see what we can do to improve performance in each level. We know of a few ways to do this already, but we are doing that last since each level is still getting updated every now an…

Hey horror enthusiasts! Here are the latest news about Freja. Steam next fest Steam next fest brought in a significant amount of new wishlists for the game as well as demo let's plays. This was mentioned in demo playthrough videos. I use just one monitor so I missed that - Keep working on the last remaining storyrelated minigames to implement, work on the last puzzles and epilogue Stay tuned!

- How Freja came to be - 15 October 2023
Some backstory We have talked about trauma and if we think facing it head on or living in ignorance is better. The discussion came from another game we played that delves into this exact topic. On one hand, dealing with bad memories can be tough and sad, but you can also learn and grow from it. On the other hand, pretending it never happened can save you from a lot of sorrow. Well, at least until the hidden memories manifests itself. A coping mechanism for the main character was engulfing herself in different video games and we figured it would make Freja more unique if we used this as a mechanic somehow. In Freja, you will play some games from the protagonist's past, and each game will represent a memory. As of now, this seem to have worked, as the resounding consensus from testers so far have all been the same, which is to say surprise and curiosity as to how arcade games fit into a p…
