- Play Online — Open Beta - 6 July 2026
Shinobi has always been a couch game. Not anymore. Online multiplayer is live on the beta branch. Grab your friends and play together over the internet, no couch required—same stealth, same suspicion, same chaos, now from wherever you are. This is an early beta. Things are playable, but I'm still fixing bugs and polishing rough edges in the background, and updates may go out to the beta branch without notice. If you want the most stable experience, stick with the default branch for now—if you're up for testing something new (and don't mind the occasional hiccup), opt into beta and jump online. How to play online: select Online from the Network menu—you're now hosting. Invite a friend through the Steam overlay, or, if they already have Steam open, they'll see a Join Game button next to your name. Found a bug or something feels off? Let me know—that's exactly what this beta is for. Patch…
- QoL: Pause Menu & Polish - 7 April 2026
I've smoothed out a few rough edges for a more comfortable experience. You can now hit Start mid-round to catch your breath—then resume where you left off, restart fresh, or head back to the lobby.I've also polished the menus and made things more stable.---Patch NotesAdded pause menu with Resume, Restart, and Quit to Lobby optionsPause time excluded from round durationUI and controller improvementsStability fixes
- v1.1 Update — Watch Your Step - 17 March 2026
A new mechanic has arrived in Free-for-All and Team Deathmatch: jars.As the round heats up, jars begin appearing across the map — and they keep coming. Watch carefully. NPCs will bump off them. Players will smash straight through. That's your tell.In a game where everyone looks the same, the longer the round goes, the harder it gets to hide. Build your mental map. Track the movement. Figure out who's navigating around obstacles they shouldn't know are there. And if you do break one — there's a chance it's carrying a shuriken or smoke bomb. So sometimes the loot is worth blowing your cover.---What's new in v1.1:Jars spawn dynamically in FFA and Team Deathmatch, starting ~18 seconds in, with new batches every 18 secondsNPCs bump off jars; players break them on contactJars have a chance to drop a shuriken or smoke bomb on break

- Shinobi Launches in 2 Weeks - 20 January 2026
Shinobi is officially two weeks away from its 1.0 launch on February 3!Right now I'm in the final stretch: squashing last-minute bugs, tightening up UI, and polishing the overall experience to make sure Shinobi launches as the sharp, chaotic party game it's meant to be.Thank you to everyone who's wishlisted, playtested, and shared feedback so far — it’s had a huge impact on getting the game to this point.— Michael
