It's been a while! It's been a (very!) long time coming, but I have finally decided to update Ultionus. This new version overhauls the original game in almost every way imaginable, short of making it an entirely new thing. Not that it makes Ultionus a good game or anything - it's still terrible, but this RC6 release drags it, kicking and screaming into a new decade. So, what's new? Ported the game to GameMaker Studio 2, so Windows scheduler shouldn't be an issue anymore. 60fps gameplay (30fps option still exists if you want to run it on a piece of moldy bread). Larger play window. Where the original game's resolution was 320x200, it is now 426x240. Sped up the gameplay by 25%. This can be disabled from Advanced options. Optional 4:3 mode. Extended intro. User-definable controls. Support for modern gamepads. End-of-level cutscenes. Most boss fights have been re-balanced, with added teleg…

Back when I first released Ultionus on Steam, I've been virtually platform-illiterate, and couldn't see much point in having Steam trading cards, as they seemed like a lot of extra work. But things change, and we all grow wiser, and so, as of today I'm adding a set of Steam trading cards to the game. Have fun with those!ːbalzacːːufloppyːːumelonːːserenasːːspassː Cheers.

Ultionus: A Tale of Petty Revenge is Now Available on Steam! Galactic hero Serena S has been trolled on Spacebook. This is obviously a cause to embark on an epic quest to punish the troll in question, who just happens to be The Space Prince. Guide Serena through 7 stages of shmup action, jumping, shooting, and yet decidedly more jumping and shooting to her ultimate goal of total testicular annihilation of her foe. Ultionus is a love-letter to the home computer arcade games of the late 80s and early 90s, particularly Halloween Harry, Astro Marine Corps, Duke Nukem 2 and especially Phantis/Game Over II. The game features tons of lovingly crafted pixel art, and a rockin' chiptune soundtrack by the legendary Jake 'Virt' Kaufman.
