  • Still alive and major changes - 26 February 2026

We’ve made several major changes recently, focused on improving clarity, reducing frustration, and strengthening the core gameplay experience.Economy SimplificationFirst, we significantly simplified the economy system by reducing the number of resources. There are still multiple resources in the game — just far fewer than when we originally started. The main reason for this change is focus. We want the game to be primarily about combat, not economic micromanagement. There was nothing inherently wrong with the economy system, but managing both deep combat and heavy economic complexity at the same time proved increasingly difficult. With the previous setup, it was very easy to get soft-locked if a key production building was destroyed. That led to frustrating situations that happened more often than they should have. There may have been a solution to that problem — I just couldn’t find one…

  • Dev Blog 4 - 30 January 2025

Hey everyone, Sorry for the lack of updates. The game is not dead, and we are still working on it, but being a pet project, it’s not always easy to find time to work on. Over the last couple of months, we’ve been working on refactoring a few systems and addressing some design decisions that we weren’t happy with. One of the systems we’re currently reworking is the enemy AI, which is probably one of the hardest things in any RTS. I’m not going to pretend that we’ve found a way to create an amazing AI that revolutionizes the genre; instead, we want to focus on challenge and fun. Sometimes, keeping it simple is the best approach. In our case, we knew from the start that we didn’t want the AI to follow the same set of rules and goals as the player. A good example of this is the zombies in They Are Billions. They don’t use resources, don’t need to build buildings, or expand their territory—a…

  • Dev Blog 3 - New Visuals, Gameplay changes - 4 September 2024

Hey everyone, As we gradually improve our current prototype, we've spent some time upgrading the visuals. Almost every building has been reworked, receiving a more detailed look with added animations and visual effects. While it’s still a work-in-progress, and the look of the game will likely evolve throughout development, we're finally happy with the overall direction. Here are some of the new buildings. Another big change has occurred on the gameplay front. At first glance, it might not seem like much, but in reality, it drastically changes the dynamics of the game. Now, instead of playing an entire hand to get new biome cards, each time you play a card, you receive a new one. This creates more interesting options and combinations that can play out in a single moment. https://i.imgur.com/2YakBXN.gif We’ve also added the option to discard cards for double their price. It’s a bit punish…

  • Dev Blog 2 - a GIF-heavy progress update - 6 June 2024

Hey everyone, A long overdue update is finally here. A lot has changed since the last update. In short, the game is evolving and gradually turning into something exciting. The Devoted First of all, we've added our first Hero Unit - a powerful character with unique active abilities, significantly more health, and greater damage output than any standard military unit. The hero unit will have a big impact on your playstyle and moment-to-moment decisions. If this sounds reminiscent of Warcraft 3, you're not wrong. W3 is one of our inspirations. https://i.imgur.com/J5xS2xS.gif In the lore, our heroes are called the Devoted - the strongest and most loyal champions of the Everlord they worship. Bestowed with unique powers, they have become key elements in the wars of men and the cosmic powers. https://i.imgur.com/yWYRTpy.gif Thorns, Biomes, and the Fog of War The fog of war is finally working…

  • Intro - 5 March 2024

Hey all and thank you for tuning in, I want to use this first entry to explain the format of the blog and give a little bit more context on what we’re trying to do with Everlords. First of all, the format of the blog. I’m going to try and share the entire process from ideation to first implementation of every feature. I think it will give a better understanding of how games are made (at least in our team) and also provide an opportunity for you to share your feedback and thoughts with us as early as possible. Our plans for Everlords. As you can tell from the screenshots it’s still very early days and we’re figuring out the direction as we go. However the core mechanic that makes Everlords unique is there and working great. In Everlords each run is going to be unique. You as a player will be creating the level map as you go from the biome and events cards at your disposal. It’s up to you…
