- Puru's final push, new tribal gear & performance gains! - Dev Blog #36 is out! - 2 October 2026
K.Digi- Manager September was a busy month on the production side, with a lot of my focus going into keeping the team, our priorities and our roadmap aligned as development continues moving forward. One of our biggest focuses this month has been getting Purussaurus up to par with Eocarcharia and Ouranosaurus as we push through the final stretch towards its release. We've been working through the remaining combat animations and interactions, including grabs, pins, knockdowns and staggers, getting everything implemented and polished so Purussaurus is ready to join the roster. As we close out that work, we'll begin shifting more of our animation focus towards the next creatures in the pipeline. We also welcomed a new animator to the team this month, who is getting started on our Tribal animations. He's settling in well, and we're excited to see his work start making its way into the game.…
- New Pachy Model Completed and Combat Extended! - New Dev Blog #35 Is Out! - 1 September 2026
Monthly Development Update K.Digi- Manager August was one of those months where a lot was happening behind the scenes, at least from my end! We had a few changes in team availability, so quite a bit of my time went into reshuffling work and making sure nothing got stuck because of it. That meant going through outstanding tasks, checking in with the team about what they could realistically take on, and moving things around without creating new bottlenecks. Thankfully, we managed to keep our priority creatures moving. I also spent a fair amount of time on budgeting and planning. I updated our forecasts based on where production actually stands now and broke down more of our costs creature by creature. It's given us a much clearer idea of where the bigger expenses are and where we need to be smart with priorities as we work toward Early Access. We made some good progress with animation too…
- Puru's Big Month! - New Dev Blog #34 Is Out! - 1 August 2026
Monthly Development Update K.Digi- Manager July was a big month for us! The roadmap is sharper, our priorities are clearer, and we're more confident than ever in hitting our Early Access target. Purussaurus is heading into QA testing by the end of this month, with a public release following shortly after. This will be a very early release; there's still plenty more for us to build...but we didn't want to make our players wait any longer to start experiencing it. The animation team has made significant progress this month, with the audio team following closely behind. The tribal side of Echoes of Extinction has also seen strong progress, with equipment, structures, and resources coming together to advance the tribal gameplay loop. On that note, we're expanding our tribal human animations and are in the process of bringing on a dedicated human animator to support this work further…more de…

- Deadly Temperatures, a Volcanic World & New Skins! - Dev Blog #33 Is Out! - 1 July 2026
Monthly Development Update K.Digi- Manager This month has been an exciting one for the team as we continue laying the groundwork for the future of Echoes of Extinction. A major focus behind the scenes has been planning for Early Access and ensuring we have the right systems and foundations in place for the journey ahead. While much of this work isn't immediately visible, it's helping shape the next phase of development and bringing us one step closer to getting the game into your hands. We've also been making progress on our customisation system, which will allow players to manage their skins and cosmetic rewards that they acquire through our website and bring those customisations into the game. Many of these customisations are designed as rewards for the community members who have supported us through the years and continue to stand the test of time alongside us as development moves fo…
- Supporter Playtest Update - 11 June 2026
Playtest Update 0.3.13.45 — The World Gets Colder (and Hotter) Hey Extinctioneers! A new playtest build is live! This one's a big step for survival depth — every dino now has environmental tolerances, meaning temperature is no longer just a number on your HUD. Get too cold and you'll burn through hunger faster while healing slows. Overheat and you'll drain water and struggle to regain stamina. Find a sunny spot to warm up, take a dip to cool off (water now runs up to 20° cooler than the air), and keep an eye on your new tolerance range in the character tab. We've also made the world more physical — organs, meat chunks, and bugs are now grabbable pickup items with full ragdoll physics, rocks are harvestable for Tribals, and pill bugs have joined the diggable critter roster. Plus the ravine got a full glow-up with new rock work, a redone water sim, and a few... decorative corpses on spike…
- New PlayTest Build, Website & Dracovenator Progress! - New Dev-blog #32 Is Out! - 2 June 2026
Monthly Development Update 32 Islander- Owner This month I've been working on the website quite a bit. It's already starting to shape up very nicely and I'm quite happy with the outcome. I went back and forth with K.Digi a lot, thinking of ideas we'd like to implement so it isn't just a boring corporate landing page, but something more interactive, with a real reason to come back to it. I managed to add a lot of cool features, as well as give you guys a rundown and immerse you a little in the lore of Akura! I hope you'll get to play around with it soon, I'm aiming to bring it out alongside the new Supporter Public Build we're pushing to release. We've also been working hard on remaking the Patreon system. We felt the way it works now is too constrictive and not rewarding or interactive enough, so we're planning to change how the whole thing works through the website. We'll still use Pat…

Dev Blog 31New build on the way Islander- Project LeadHey Extinctioneers,This month has been focused heavily on cleaning up, stabilizing, and improving Echoes of Extinction after the Unreal Engine 5.7 upgrade. UE 5.7 Update Complete! Islander- Project Lead Hey Extinctioneers, welcome to another Dev-blog.This month has been a really important one for Echoes of Extinction. A lot of the work this month has gone into strengthening the foundation of the game, from upgrading the project to Unreal Engine 5.7, to pushing species research forward, improving UI, expanding tribal assets, and continuing work on upcoming creatures and mechanics. While some of this month’s progress has been more behind the scenes, it is all building toward faster and smoother development going forward, and helping us shape the game into something much bigger.Video: Soundrynx- Sound Designer This month I completed the Purussaurus adult sounds, giving it its final call, help, and also finishing its bite sounds. - Pachycephalosaurs and Dracovenator in the works! - New Dev-blog #29 is Out! - 1 March 2026
Full Steam Ahead | Echoes of Extinction Devblog Islander– Project Lead Hey Extinctioneers,This month has mostly been about transition and momentum. With the upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.7 underway, active development inside the engine slowed slightly while Chika handled the heavy lifting on the backend side. That pause gave us time to regroup, review systems, and make sure what comes next is structured properly rather than rushed. The Kickstarter success is still something we’re incredibly grateful for. Hitting 126% funded wasn’t just a milestone, it gave us breathing room and confidence in the direction of the project. It proved that people believe in Echoes of Extinction and what we’re building.Because of that support, we’re now slowly starting to shift certain roles toward more consistent, full-time focus. This won’t happen overnight, but step by step we’re creating the foundation to sp…

- When is the Public Tech Demo launching? - New Dev-blog #26 is Out! - 30 November 2025
Islander– Project LeadHey Extinctioneers, welcome to another Dev-blog. This month has been packed with a whole load of new content and information, from the beginning of the Tropeognathus to the Ouranosaurus gore and skeleton. So far, this month has mostly consisted of bug fixing and getting ready for the Tech Demo that we would like to bring out this December; that is the goal at least. We will also be hosting a pre-stress test for all our Patreons on the 7th of December for anyone who wants to come help us find any last-minute bugs and really push the server. This will be for the Sub-Adult Patreon tier and above, but the Tech Demo after that will still be free for everyone. Either way, it's been a good month, and I look forward to seeing you all on Akura soon! Video: FuriousSmaug– ProgrammerHey all! This month has had a plethora of new additions. We’ve heard your feedback and have rem…
- Another Semi-Aquatic Apex on the Horizon? - New Dev-blog #25 is Out! - 31 October 2025
Islander– Project Lead Hey Extinctioneers! Every month has just been getting better and more exciting, whether its new features being added to the Tech Demo or just progress wise, things have been looking promising. This month I put most of my focus on the map: designing several cave systems and an underground temple space as a future quest/lore hub for tribals. I also reworked stretches of coastline for better traversal and sightlines, and worked on the small island on the main lake. Furioussmaug and I also worked on adding more colours to the current creature skins to ensure more variety in colours. The rest of the team has been working super hard too and i couldn't be prouder of them. Map Work: Skins:Vittoria Leto– ArtistHi everyone! This month I’ve been diving into designing the new icon for the Ouranosaurus UI panel and I’ve been exploring some fresh concepts for the different Kick…
- A new Semi-Aquatic Apex has been completed! - New Dev-blog #24 is Out! - 1 October 2025
Islander– Project LeadHey Extinctioneers! This month was a test and we passed it. We rebuilt the entire map from scratch (keeping the same layout but correcting the scale that used to cause issues as well as getting rid of old bad references that were causing some crashes). The new size feels right in playtests and has improved performance, stability as well as making the game project file a lot smaller and less memory intensive (As well as the server) the map is already close to where we left off originally, missing only some of the human structures we need to copy back in and some rivers. We also had a scare when our main PC wiped all our work, but because we keep redundant backups, nothing was lost, just a brief pause of a day or two while we moved TBs of data and spun up a new work pc. On content: I built an ancient walled city in the desert with is own majestic bridge and a pond in…
- Our Spinosaurus Design Has Been Completed! - New Dev-blog #23 is Out! - 31 August 2025
Islander- Project Lead Hey Extinctioneers! We're back with yet another juicy Dev-Blog this month, as you know we're gearing up for the upcoming Tech Demo and Crowdfunding campaign, our team has been putting in extra time to make sure this Tech Demo come out in a state we're happy to have represent to the public as a taster to what's to come in the near future. As much as progress has been non stop and going amazingly we did run into some issues with the textures and had to re-do some Dino skins, but that has all be sorted, we also have cracked down on several fatal crashes we are now working on fixing, some already fixed. Optimisation has been priority too, making sure people can enjoy the game even on some lower-medium end machines. Things have been progressing amazingly otherwise and I'm excited to see you guys on the island with me soon! If you prefer a more summarised Dev-Blog video…
- Our new Dinosaur has entered the Island! - New Dev-blog #22 is Out! - 31 July 2025
Islander- Project Lead Hey Extinctioneers! This month is absolutely jampacked with progress from all departments, as you know we're gearing up to release the Tech Demo with our Indiegogo Campaign, so everyone is putting in extra time to make sure this Tech Demo is a good representation of the work we can do, even with limited to no funding. A lot of our time has also gone into bug fixing as we ran across some fatal errors on the build that needed our attention. I'm happy to say everything is still on schedule though so far, but we will keep you updated if anything changes! I've been hearing some concerns with the combat, some people hoping it doesn't become a tailriding competition, just wanted to share a gif to help ease your minds, but combat is going to be quite in-depth in EoE, the Tech Demo will be quite basic, but as we progress we have many ideas in mind to make combat fun. With…
