• Demo Update 0.5.0 - 24 April 2025

  The Demo has been Updated with brand new features and new Better functionality. Bugfixes; Accidentally starting a new game has been removed Te-Ra's Fire Vortex attack should now be more visable Features; Maui can now transform into four different animals, each with their own ability: Rupe (Pigeon) is now temporary and allows for quicker movement over terrain. Ngarara (Dragonfly) gives Maui a brief period of invulnerability. Hake (Hawk) Maui quickly dive bombs to deal moderate amount of damage Mangopare (Hammerhead Shark) attacks with large amount of damage and knocks back with large amount of force Upon death Whiro will now rise out of the ground before the death window appears Updates Visual updates Optimization updates

  Another character update. say kia ora to the goddess Taranga Maui's mother. After finding her you'll be able to visit her in her Kainga (village), where she will tell you of the goings on in the world of Aotearoa Mana.

  A small update on another primary character. Say Kia Ora to Tama, Maui's uncle. He is playable for the first level before you play as Maui.

• Model Updates - Maui - 2 December 2024

  Recently to take a small break from level design I have been working on making the central characters stand out a bit more from the generic NPCs. First to receive this treatment is Maui; The model has been updated to align more with the splash art. Other characters will be receiving this treatment soon. : these changes will not be seen in the Demo a sometime, I will update when the changes have been made

• Demo 0.4.1 Update - 8 September 2024

  Kia Ora Finally a major update to the Demo brings us to v0.4.1 This is huge as you will see a shift in game play to a more linear style level that still leaves plenty of room for exploration. For Now you will only get to experience one level which at the end will lead you to a fight with Te-Ra, the sun. Another major update is to the combat system. Time your attacks to link combos, In the demo you will also get to try out using a transformation combo, demonstrating Maui's ability to turn the tides of battle. Don't worry you can still turn into Rupe at will and fly around. Finally you'll see the terrifying Maero. Thank you all for your patience as I continue to work on LoM and can't wait to show some of the new things as I progress.

• Major Update and Rework of Demo - 22 August 2024

  I hope you all have had some fun with the the The Legends of Maui demo. After doing some thinking and talking to other I am having to a major rework of the game and a new version of the demo will be coming out. On a scale of how f'ed am I out of 10 I am looking at a 6. However I feel this is the right direction. Here's hoping these changes improve the game and QoL The controls should feel more in line with similar games Attacks are now to be chained in combos Scaling back the RPG elements to be more simple and less of a cluster bomb Utilization of Maui's ability to transform should make the combat more interesting, this will tie into attack combos Levels should streamline the story more, this may shorten the games overall length but will open to the door to adding FLC (no that isn't a typo) easier in the future.   Friday June 28 2024, New Zealand celebrates Matariki, or the Maori New Year. Matariki, or Nga mata o te arikii o Tawhirmatea (the eyes of Tawhirimatea), is the Maori name for the Pleiades and the celebration occurs as the star cluster rises for the first time (after the first month of the cluster not being visible in New Zealand), marking the beginning of the new lunar calendar. In celebration of this mark in the calendar The Legends of Maui demo is to be released. So get ready to try your hand at being Maui. You'll also be able to file bug reports if you discover anything.
