• The Story Mode & Leaderboards Rework - 8 June 2026

  Story Mode Rework Levels are now treated as isolated stages with Game Over resetting progress on the current level rather than resetting all progress. With this change comes a full rework of the lives system. Rather than starting with a large number of lives that persist through the levels you now start each stage with a small number of lives and are awarded bonus points for any remaining lives at the end of the stage. Along with this lives are now substantially easier to earn and there is a new on screen indicator of progress towards next life. The result of this rework is a substantially more offensive rather than defensive experience, which has always been the most enjoyable way to play Retaliate.
