- v1.1.3 (9/28/25) - VSync update - 29 September 2025
- VSync is now available in the options and enabled by default. - Replaced some flawed code intended to smooth out the game's FPS, which was likely responsible for FPS drops after a few hours of play. Sorry if you were hoping for a real update - I just thought I'd backport these improvements I developed while working on my other game. - Studio Hexeye
- v1.1.2 (6/23/24) - 23 June 2024
- You will now be prompted to confirm your choice before exiting the game through the options menu during gameplay, or before resetting any options to default. The "Exit Game" option is also now a scary red color, so you definitely won't choose it by accident. - Updated help text in Options to inform the player that the game is saved at checkpoints. - Adjusted LASER ARMS so that the player will continue strafing while being hit, as with other strafing options. - HOMING can now do up to 25% more damage the straighter the missile flies. (This, and the buff to NAPALM direct damage a few patches back, is intended to ease the suffering of players who either forget about the main gun or refuse to use it; the main gun is still stronger.) - GRAVITY damage has been increased very slightly, but the Pursuit Phase damage boost is removed; it now has a much larger AOE during the Pursuit Phase instea…
- v1.1.1c (5/31/24) - 31 May 2024
- Fixed the player using a saved checkpoint's data in Free Play (causing them to spawn out of bounds, among other things). - Prevented the player sprite from continuing to flicker upon re-entering the game if it was exited during the death animation. - Fixed the volume not being reset if the game was exited inside an NPC room. - Fixed the Pursuit Phase checkpoint flag sometimes being displayed in File Select on a file without a Pursuit Phase checkpoint.
- v1.1.1b (5/30/24) - 30 May 2024
- Fixed a bug where player data would be reset to an outdated checkpoint upon loading a game and accessing the Weapon Select screen from a checkpoint in the same stage.
- v1.1.1a (5/25/24) - 25 May 2024
- Fixed the Stage 3 boss's final attack having the Heartless Rampage gimmick on all difficulties. I apologize for not properly testing the normal difficulties after the Heartless Rampage update. - Reduced the damage of many of the Stage 1 boss's bullets. - The GRAVITY ball now begins closer to you before expanding outwards to make it easier to destroy nearby tiles. - The Final Stage pursuit theme now loops a little less awkwardly (but still awkwardly), in case you take a really long time to beat it.
- v1.1.1 (5/19/24) - 19 May 2024
- The game is now saved at all checkpoints, including the pursuit phase boss checkpoint (if you earn it). Simply entering a screen with a checkpoint on it will automatically save the game. You also retain the option to restart the stage from the beginning without any checkpoints. Note: Your currently existing saves should work just fine and be able to make use of this functionality as soon as they reach a checkpoint. - Fixed the Stage 1 pursuit boss being able to use a Heartless Rampage gimmick on any difficulty. (Whoops!) - Toned down one of the Stage 6 pursuit boss Heartless Rampage gimmicks, and fixed the wrong palette being applied to it. - Fixed the cursor being positioned incorrectly after backing out of a submenu in the options screen. - The Visual C++ redistributable is now included with the Steam build, in case users don't have it installed for some reason.
- v1.1.0 (5/9/24) - The QoL Update - 10 May 2024
NOTE: Upon starting this version for the first time, your options will be reset to default. This will only happen once. (This is because I did not think far enough ahead to include version numbers in the save data. This has been corrected and future versions will be able to convert outdated files.) New options and features: - Upon completing the game, your save file will be marked with "CLEAR" on the file select screen. A "CLEAR" file can either replay the final stage, start New Game+, or choose Free Play. New Game+ allows you restart from the beginning of the game with everything you finished the game with. Free Play allows you to start from any stage and phase you like with the file's current equipment, without progress being saved. You can still access Free Play after beginning New Game+. - Added a new option to make the LANCE ARMS always aim forward during Pursuit phases. (Aiming it…
- v1.0.11 (4/26/24) - 26 April 2024
- Fixed an issue where the game state would not be reset after returning to title from the end credits. - Fixed the LANCE+ ARMS release being eaten on a frame that the player starts or stops moving. - Adjusted the channels of several ARMS sound effects to avoid conflicts.
- v1.0.10 (4/24/24) - 24 April 2024
- Almost all enemy bullets now have black borders for improved visibility, and are now drawn at a higher priority. - Partially restored the visual effect of WAVE ARMS in light of these adjustments. - The Stage 4 boss's arena now uses the pink sand tiles. - "Lawnmower" enemy sprite adjusted, adding a border around its rotors. - The room in Stage 4 with the new EC introduced in 1.0.9 now has a secret door. - Fixed a bug that allowed chaining LANCE+ charged attacks repeatedly in the pursuit phase. - The "timer" during the final sequence has been removed entirely. - The range of the SCATTERGUN upgrade's firing mode has been increased slightly, moreso in the pursuit phase. - The REPULSOR upgrade now causes the player to damage all enemies within about 2 tiles when hit, and has a new visual effect. - STATIC ARMS now only spends EN while hitting something. - SEEKER ARMS no longer spends EN mul…
- v1.0.9d (4/23/24) - 23 April 2024
From 1.0.9, hopefully minus the bugs: - Fixed an issue where if the player attempted to begin a THRUST on the same frame in which they'd been hit, the THRUST would be canceled and the meter spent. Now, the player will properly use THRUST while also taking the damage, unless they have the JET ROLL upgrade, in which case the damage will be canceled. - Using JET ROLL successfully now plays a different sound effect from a normal THRUST. - Slightly changed the Stage 5 pursuit phase midboss's attack pattern to make it spread out its bullets more on Normal and Challenging. - Certain midbosses in pursuit phases now delete certain bullets upon death. - EMERGENCY SHIELD is now replenished upon touching a checkpoint. - Stage 4 has had an EC added to a previously dialogue-only room (no, not that one) to normalize the number of ECs per stage. New in 1.0.9d: - The delayed white damage shown in the HP…
- Reverted to 1.0.8b - 23 April 2024
I deeply apologize for the inconvenience while I work out the myriad bugs introduced in 1.0.9.
- v1.0.9c Hotfix Hotfix (4/23/24) - 23 April 2024
- Fixed an issue introduced in 1.0.9 where the player was not invulnerable during the damage animation. - Embarrassing.
- v1.0.9b Hotfix (4/23/24) - 23 April 2024
- Fixed an issue where cancelling repeated damage animations with THRUST would cause the damage animation to replay upon ending the THRUST.
- v1.0.9 (4/23/24) - 23 April 2024
- Fixed an issue where if the player attempted to begin a THRUST on the same frame in which they'd been hit, the THRUST would be canceled and the meter spent.
- v1.0.8b hotfix (4/22/24) - 22 April 2024
- Reverted change from 1.0.5 preventing strafing with GRAVITY when any ARMS are used in Retro Control mode. The only ARMS affected are now ASSAULT and WAVE.
- v1.0.8 (4/22/24) - 22 April 2024
- Tweaked several Stage 1 boss attack patterns, making it significantly (but not strictly) easier overall. - Fixed some game state elements not being properly reset upon quitting from the in-game options menu to title. - While paused, the name of the selected ARMS is now displayed above the ARMS selection window.
- v1.0.7b Hotfix (4/22/24) - 22 April 2024
- Removed a debug feature that could softlock the game if used in the wrong places
- v1.0.7 (4/21/2024) - 21 April 2024
- Fixed a bug that could cause the second Stage 6 midboss to freeze the game. - Slowed down a certain "timer" during the ending sequence to discourage speeding through the text. (To clarify, the "timer" is for dramatic effect only and you are able to read everything even if it runs out.)
- v1.0.6 (4/21/24) - 21 April 2024
- Fixed missing wall tiles in two places that would allow the player to get out of bounds in Stage 5 - Adjusted Stage 4 pursuit phase background for visibility - Fixed an issue causing the LANCE ARMS to cost twice as much EN as it should - In pursuit phases, the player can now move while using LANCE ARMS, making it more practical to use
- v1.0.5 - 20 April 2024
- Fixed a crash when entering a sub-menu in options during gameplay when dialogue is onscreen - Fixed a floor gap in Stage 5 - Added new hitspark to fully-charged Buster shot - Fixed unintended behavior of Buster; Buster shots now properly lose power when destroying and passing through an enemy, and the bullet's visual appearance will downgrade to show the remaining amount of power. (Previously, the Buster shot would not lose power and only stop upon hitting an enemy that could fully deplete it.) - Removed unintended behavior of ARMS able to strafe while Gravity is selected - Added a sound effect when switching between Main/Alt Weapon - Added a sound and visual effect when THRUST METER finishes charging - Reduced volume of sound and added visual effect when LANCE+ ARMS charge-up attack is ready - Reduced WAVE ARMS fire rate and adjusted bullet sprite to improve visibility (no change to…
