Latest Steam announcements

  • Objective preview bugfixes (v12 / demo v19) - 22 September 2025

Only fixed 2 issues - one that was reported and another one that was found while fixing the first one: Fixed map being inaccessible when the mission is started with objective preview enabled. Fixed reflections sometimes disappearing in objective preview mode.

  • Interactables & menu background update (v10 / demo v17) - 29 March 2025

New menu background Interactable display UI v2 Added a new version of the interactable user interface - improving overall visibility, showing out-of-view targets and simplifying the appearance of light switches (the old version can be restored at "Options/Game/Interaction display version"). Fixed "same room" determination for interactable UI, affecting their visibility. Updated the main menu background. Added clarifying hints to NPC light/sound tool tutorials. Various minor visual tutorial tweaks.

  • Shadows update (v9 / demo v16) - 8 March 2025

Improved the quality of wall/door shadows from dynamic lights, avoiding dark spots in the corners. Added world shadow effects around pillars and inner corners. Fixed lighting/sound blocking for doors that are initially opened. Fixed a reflection rendering issue that appeared when supersampling is enabled. Optimized the rendering of small reflections. Adjusted the appearance of lighting on ceiling in one spot in the first location.

  • Reflections update (v8 / demo v15) - 13 February 2025

Just one thing added for this update but it's fairly big: Planar reflections These are more accurate reflections for windows, mirrors and glass doors. Can be turned on or off at "Options/Graphics/Planar reflections". There is also a "min. size" setting that determines the minimum on-screen size of the surface for the reflections to be visible. Those who enable planar reflections can reduce the "Env. map resolution" setting to substantially reduce video memory usage with minimal visual impact.

  • Door closing & graphics updates (v7 / demo v14) - 5 February 2025

Door quick-close (door control version 4) Activated by pressing the local interaction button ( / 🎮 by default) together with moving in the direction that the character should stay after the door is closed. Only available while the door is fully opened (at least nearly 90 degrees), this state is most easily reached by quick-opening the door. As before, can be disabled by setting "Options/Control/Door control version" to version 3 or earlier. Various Added the UI background blur effect (existing users need to opt in by enabling "Options/Graphics/Blurred scene UI backgrounds") Added adaptive exposure - increasing brightness if the image is too dark (can be disabled in "Options/Display/Adaptive exposure") Added increased camera vignette when zooming in (similar to how real cameras work) Fixed incomplete saving of player character’s door use state

  • v6 full / v13 demo - making things easier - 26 January 2025

This update is mainly focused on making various things (like replaying and seeing objectives) easier. Progress control Added a feature to allow resetting the unfinished missions to the initial state, which allows replaying the game without losing access to missions. It is possible to reset the unfinished missions including videos and tutorials (for the full experience) or only reset the missions (for speedrunning). It is also possible to restore the finished missions to everything that has been unlocked. The feature can be found at "Options/Game/Progress control". Please note that replaying missions currently not unlocked from other lists will still change the point count for the unlocked missions list! Various Added a "Show objectives" feature in mission preview. Slightly increased the visibility of a light switch in one of the first extraction missions. Added the ability to move while…

  • v5 update (meta-game) + demo is back (v12) - 16 January 2025

The latest update focuses on the meta-game aspects - mission names, progress updates - with an additional fix thrown in. Mission names Added names to all missions and locations The old ID-names can be viewed in mission lists by holding Left Ctrl or Y/Triangle on the controller. Progress update Created a new progress update popup The old popup can be restored by changing the "Options/Game/Progress update UI type" value to "original". Various Fixed a bug in the NPC tutorial where it was not possible to finish the light tool section (my apologies to the streamer who encountered the bug while playing the game). Raised the minimum point count for 2 initial missions to require playing either a tutorial or the easiest mission first. Additionally - the demo has finally returned to Steam! The easiest mission in the full version was recreated as a demo-exclusive mission in a different location fe…

  • v4 update (door controls v3 and various fixes) - 6 January 2025

Door controls v3 The version 3 of door controls has been added. The new controls are: Space / 🎮 - full end-to-end open (including unlock if needed), in hold mode: unlock door, quick open ( 45°) Left Ctrl / 🎮 - hold the door (or attach/detach in hold toggle mode) Left Shift / 🎮 - shove the door (enables moving the door when running into it) Running into the door without holding the above key will not move it (can only reduce door movement if moving against it or standing still). The door hold button can be used in toggle mode by turning on the "Options/Control/Door hold toggle" setting. The "Swap door interact/exit" setting in "Options/Input mapping" has no effect in version 3 and is therefore disabled when version 3 is selected. As before, the previous door control versions can be selected by changing the "Options/Control/Door control version" setting. Various Removed the "Door - go…

  • Small update (v3, Dec 26) - 26 December 2024

While considering how to best design and add easy mode and further door UI upgrades, here's a smaller update. Environment maps Added a high quality setting in graphics options that uses anti-aliasing to generate the environment maps (NOTE: If you experience crashes on older hardware, please report them and try disabling the feature in Options/Graphics by setting Env. map - high quality to Off!) Made some lamps visible in environment maps Fixed the appearance of the Z7R cubicle room wall in its environment map Various Moved the "Door - go through fast" tutorial to the end of the list Improved NPC door vision code to consider the visibility of the previous door position for state changes Fixed enemy placement while in chair during the mission failure screen Fixed enemy eye position while in chair Fixed a delay in player rotation update after loading a save point

  • Update (v2, Dec 17, door focus) - 16 December 2024

Focused mainly on making doors easier to use in most cases. Door quick-open Activated by pressing the local interaction button ( on a keyboard or on the controller by default). Only available while the door is opened below 45 degrees and while there are no active electronic locks on the door. Electronic locks take precedence but only as long as they're active (first interaction button press would deactivate the lock, the second one would open the door). Opens the door up to a nearly 90 degree angle. Any enemies standing in the way of the door will be hit. Can be disabled by setting Options/Control/Door control version to "original" Door move direction indicator Added arrows that show the available motion directions for the door while holding it. Translatability All previously untranslatable text (excluding full pages, decorative text and mission ID-names) has been connected to the trans…

  • Release date (Dec 13) / demo update (v9) - 26 November 2024

Release date: December 13, 2024 (in less than 3 weeks, wishlist to get notified when the game comes out) Another demo update (v9) has been pushed as well, among the changes you'll find: Light tool improvements - added a usage sound, added a reflection warning Added a timeout progress bar for general tool usage Visual tweaks of location R6Q (first one in the demo / purple carpet) Fixed some enemy navigation issues - particularly relevant for the knock-misdirect map, should open up more options there and make it less frustrating due to the enemy performing strange turns near the door The light indicator is now blinking while in light and can display a wider range of light values

  • Recent demo updates (up to v8) - 18 October 2024

On top of the usual work, this has been an interesting week (and it's not even over yet). Many fairly basic issues were found - and fixed. Hopefully if anything in the game was unclear or confusing before - the recent updates should address that. Main issues fixed in v8: Mission selection will now show directly below the unfinished missions how many points are needed to unlock more missions. This should help address any confusion regarding the scope of the demo (12 missions across 2 locations). Each mission in mission selection should now also show in various places (depending on relevance) how many points completing the mission would add to the total. This should motivate finishing the tutorial even if it seems unnecessary, especially since it's almost certainly going to be useful for understanding how parts of this game work. Removed local interaction prompt when unable to interact, s…
