• Codemasters extends its F1 deal to 2025 - 31 October 2019

  Codemasters has just announced that it's extended its rights on the F1 licence to 2025 - with a further option for 2026 and 2027. Coming off the back of two outstanding entries in Codemasters' series, it's fantastic news for fans of the sport, and it marks the longest extension in the franchise's history. Codemasters first signed up in 2008, with the first entry being Sumo's stopgap Wii effort in 2009, with the fully-fledged F1 2010 following soon after. There have been lulls - F1 2014 marked a low-point for the series as the studio prepared for a new generation - but since then it's gone from strength to strength, with F1 2019 an enjoyable, detailed and passionate take on the sport that's bolstered by an esports offering now going into its third seasons that's become part and parcel of the sport itself. • Unlicensed Formula 1 mods ordered to be removed - 28 March 2016

  Mods for Automobilista, F1 2013 and F1 2014 are no longer available after legal claims from Formula 1 s commercial rights holder demanded they be removed. As rather angrily detailed over on Pretend Race Cars , the threat of legal action from Formula One World Championships Ltd has resulted in over 30 pages of mods being removed from the Race Department forum . The general reason behind the removal is because the mods infringe on Formula 1 s copyrights cars looking like the real cars, that sort of thing and it is something for which F1 has every right to demand things be taken down. That said, it s not exactly like the modders are making big bucks off the mods. They re getting nothing from it.   We're very proud to announce that the F1 team have been working with premier motion simulator manufacture SimXperience, and F1 2015 now officially supports the SimXperience AccuForce steering wheel. A spokesperson from SimXperience explained that the integration into F1 2015 meant a lot to them, saying: "Having AccuForce integration built into F1 2015 means a lot to us here at SimXperience and our customers. It was a pleasure to collaborate with the development team and we look forward to having a long term relationship with not only the Formula One dev team but the teams that develop the DiRT and Grid titles as well. You can find all the patch notes below: Game Added a Strict corner cutting rules option and made the strict rules even stricter than they were previously following community feedback. Added support for the Thrustmaster T-150. Added support for the SimXperience AccuForce steering wheel. Fixed RPM and flag information sent to UDP outgauge devices. Multiplayer Fixed an issue where host migration wouldn't work a session lobby. Fixed an issue where the host would be unable to see a client’s car after they selected the “return to garage” option. Fixed an issue where a session would fail to start if multiple players joined simultaneously. Fixed an issue where a player could be prevented from leaving their garage after another player selected the “return to garage” option. Fixed an issue where players could not change their tyres on the grid…
